  • Jack is a little cutie pie

  • Aww I love those little maroon bellied monsters.. yours is sooooooo freakin cute !!!

  • Hey guys im in need for some advice ok so.. Today i went and got a hair cut and came back and went to go see my green cheek and he doesent no its me!! he keeps on biting me really hard! Please you guys this bird was like my best friend he was the joy in my life i dont no what to do any ideas?

  • how old did your green cheek start dancing at... mine is 4 months old, Buddy, and i can get him to bob his head....

  • I do notice sometimes Laura makes a different sound and I can't tell what she might be saying . It's very low sounding maybe she is starting to talk. I constantly am working with her to say Hello. Thanks for the info. BirdieWilson

  • Oh that is just too cute. My green cheek says, "Good boy, Kirby!" He talks more than my Grey does! ha ha. I believe your Jack is a maroon bellied conure?

  • I agree, he looks like a maroon belly to me :) Love conures!

  • I just bought one, and work from home so I've been trying to teach mine how to say HELLO . How long did it take you to get yours to say something.

  • For mine, it took him about 8 months. I couldn't even tell he was talking until I listened closely... His little mumbles sounded unlike the rest of his usual noises. Only you will be able to tell if it's a word or not!

  • He is such a cutie

  • He's unbelievable! Good video :)

  • Ohh Thats a hard one , mine she sometimes screeches and loud!!!

I found just talking to them , also try when they are loud to do a whisper I do that with my Umbrella cockatoo and she whispers back, or even sing gets there mind off the screeching!!

  • I wish that worked with my lovebirds.

  • will do i was just wondering because im not home for a long time but i do have someone staying with the parrot whats a good way to get them to exercise there vocals getting them to talk with out screeching hehe = )

  • no thanks i bought my parrot on saturday i got a Quacker hes only 4 months old but i love him so much

  • I have a Quaker too, Jack and her are best friends. Quakers are great!! They talk so well!! Let me know when you post some videos of your quaker .

  • in the Edmonton Alberta area

  • Oh thats far from me. look on the net for breeders in your area. Go on Yahoo groups abirdforsale that can help you . I can look to if you like ?

  • sorry about that earlier message obviously he does mimic your voice but what is the price range for this parrot ?

  • No Problem . I paid $200 for Jack 5 years ago. Pet stores sell them for much more , look for a breeder in your area.

  • haha 200 dollars for a green cheek, thats alot of money.

in danmark they cost 150 dkk, its like 20 dollars. green and blue cheecked are the cheapest ones, theres another also that is cheap, its called "bloodwinged conure" here in sweden/denmark. dont know what their english name is.

  • I see you are from Canada , I do know of some good breeders where in Canada are you?

  • is this a Green Cheek Conure?

  • No he is a maroon Bellied conure. They are very close to a green Cheek.

  • when he does speak does he seak clearly and mimic your sounds and your voice?

  • My green cheek has his ear to the speaker and just said, 'Hello Jack', except my green cheek is named Pancho! LOL

  • HA HA that is cute!!! Jack has a friend a blue quaker and she says Hi Jack. Her name is Bindi !!My birds love youtube, my grey love the other greys talking, maybe it will help to get them to talk more??

  • now that my green cheek is over a year old, i guess my sun conure said more lol... my green cheek is far more friendly & tame tho. he's also quieter (never does the "conure scream" he grew up around quakers & i swear he thinks he IS a quaker - always mocking their sounds

  • OK, the first part won't post. I give up and I'm not retyping it all again. Just take a look at my video. What you'll hear is only 1/2 her vocabulary.

  • Weirdly enough my green-cheek's favourite words are popsicle and poop

  • i have a janday conure and she dont want a talk at all

    how u do it

  • you say one word over and over and over and over and over again to it. I say night night when i put his blanket over his cage when it is bedtime. now he says it whenever he even sees the blanket

  • can u please tel me how long it takes usually to learn to say somthing liek "hello"

  • I am not sure how long it takes. I just brought him to a room , so it was quite and said hello to him. he watched . Then he came out with it. Keep working with him .

  • ok...thanks for the help. i wil go and try with cheekie lol

  • My Green cheeked conure, Seeds says my name so cute he goes " Britt-any " !! :D

  • That's a Maroon Bellied Conure, not a Green Cheek (to some of these other commenters).... He's SO cute! I love their little voices.

My Green Cheek says just as many things as my Amazon, he's just hard to understand if you don't know him!

  • my green cheeked conure is 6 months old... he's making noises like he's trying to talk but nothing yet..

conure88, suns aren't known as great talkers, but i had one who said a few words & did some tricks.

  • They will also make up words in place of a word they might have trouble with or just plain not like. One of the suns either can't say nite, nite or she just doesn't like the sound of it so in place of nite, nite she saids what sounds like, ship, ship. If you look under my videos, you'll see one titled "Sun Conure talking to the bird video" That's Autumn, the one who says ship, ship. Though she doesn't say it on this video.

  • OK, the whole first part of this comment disappeared...Now i have to retype it. Grrrr

  • Hi! GCs are very underestimated; ours taught herself to talk, very clearly and in context! She also follows our verbal instructions.

  • Jack is so cute! I can understand his speech perfectly, but maybe that's because I'm a conure mom (Charlie, green cheeked conure). I just love how fluffy he is. He looks like he's ready for some good-birdy scratches.

  • awh... I love to hear conures speak... it's so cute! Mine says "Duck duck goose" and he calls everyone in the household by name if he wants attention...It's so adorable

  • What a sweet little bird and beautiful colors.

  • Hi, I have a green checked conure she is about 6 years old and i was wondering if you knew a word that would be easier to teach then another would "Hi" be a good start? Your bird is very happy

  • do you guys know if the suns are good talkers? iv got a baby one now im starting 2 try and teach, iv never tough a bird how to talk b4 tho

  • I am sure they can . I just started slow with Jack.

First with Hello, but he watches me try to teach My Amazon, and he picks up from there. I took Jack to a perch away from his cage with no distractions.Just make it fun and start small,I feel with starting small and if your sun picks it up then you are on your way.

Good luck with baby,Does your sun have a name???

  • Suns are generally better talkers that green cheeks. But to us green cheek parents, we can hear perfectly what our birds are saying. Jack is a cutie pie! Our green cheek says "whats up, george" "goodnight mary/kristie" "pretty bird george" and some phrases in Japanese and Korean. lol I have no idea...his previous owner is responsible for that. :D

  • yeah my sun talks a little aswell,... its a little hard 2 understand tho. but when he wants 2 be picked up he says "step up" and twiches his wings @ the same time. he says no and dont alot lol... "kiss" "scratch" "down" "hello" and whats up but its more like "wusup" lol... besides that i cant really understand wot his trying 2 say lol

  • haha its so cute.sounds like a squeeze toy..i have a blue crown conure and im trying to teach him to talk, hes 3 months old so im in no hurry,,my cockatiel talks up a storm...he talks to everybody and everything..including potatoes!!

  • Thanks !!! We love him ! He does sound like a sqweeze toy.He also whistles for my dog and she comes running ,but she is not sure where to go. Poor thing !! LOL

  • What a cutie pie! And a good little talker for a Green Cheek!

  • Thanks Jack is a Marroon bellied Conure. He really picked up on the talking. He calls my kids by there names.
