my set up: duncan loaded guitars out to boss ns-2 noisegate with ts808 and morley bad horsie 2 wah in ns-2 loop, from their into marshall.....tc electronics g major 2 in the loop....if you r playing high gain stuff run with noise gate on on g major 2 (boss ns-2 to quite ts808, g major noise gate to quite amp preamp on od1 orange and above).....another great demo of this amp check out: fearedse channel....bad ass.....
you can absolutely use this in your bedroom. each channel has its own volume and gain....plus their is 2 overall masters besides that...you can get this amp down to a whisper volumn with very good tone still.....i just bought mine 3 weeks ago....if you are going to be playing hardrock or metal i suggest a ibanez ts808 reissue running through the front.....
What kind of exercises do you recommend? I'm not a beginner but I'm not like a super shredder either. I'm kinda in between. I can play typically everything but super fast stuff like John Petrucci etc. I've taken a break from guitar for the past couple years because I've been playing bass in a band. I'm switching back to "guitar mode" soon and I want to hit practicing real hard. I'm super excited. I love guitar. Its been a while....

Hello, I notice you're using the OD2 channel but I can't ascertain what your settings are. I'd like an opinion from someone who shares the same amp.
Here's the deal: Is it just me, or does the OD2 channel sound scooped no matter what you do to it and only BEGINS to get some harmonic overtones on obscene volumes?
I'm using JVM, best amp I have ever tried, no doupt.
I'm mostly using OD2 - orange with gain around 4-5 so I don't have that scooping effect so much, either I have wooden ears or I don't recognize it.
When I want to play something more aggressive, I use OD2 - red with gain around 5-6, so it can be little scooped. Marshall introduced whole OD2 for metal, OD1 is for more crispy heavy. If you want OD2 feedback with less scoop, try OD1 - red with high gain and little presence, works for me.
Hello. Thanks for the reply. I have since been able to tame the beast and am now in tonal heaven in both OD1 and OD2 =) . I guess the speakers have broken in and I became more proficient with EQing the whole amp.

I know the amps. I just do not like modern Marshalls.
For example the clean channel is harsh, even with not bright settings, there is always a high peak. All this thanks to the low quality components, low quality out transformer and NO CHOKE WTF every amp needs a choke.
@timjatomnee You are an idiot that hates Marshall amps but still likes to listen to every clip you can find of one for some moronic reason unknown to me and proceed to share your unwanted opinion that you don't like the amp, i bet this isn't the first Marshall amp you haven't liked and i can guarantee it won't be the last Marshall you will go out of your way to listen to and dislike. Einstein said: "Only an idiot keeps doing the same thing and expecting different results". You're an idiot
I love (old) Marshall amps actually...was actually searching for avatar cabs, thats why i found this vid.
At the moment marshall uses cheap components like 5 dollar transformers to save money and they can do it because they have got the name and do not have to prove themselves. I have actually owned a marshall jcm2000dsl for some time, my brunetti's blow it away. I have copied a 1959slp in an old 1960s chassis with great transformers. I have also got an old 1960a with g12-65s
@JamesNiskyMusic I hate what marshall is doing and everybody still keeps buying it, just because it's a marshall even though you can buy much better amps for the money. They used to make awesome amps, now they use very cheap components like 5 dollar trafo's. I used to own a DSL50 (my brunetti's blow it away) and still got a 1960a with g12-65-s. Have also built a 1959slp in a 1960s chassis with great trafo's. So I do know what im talking about...you're are the idiot that has'nt tried other amps
Wow dude great sound. I really want a C-1, maybe next year. I played the JVM410 at guitar center two weeks ago and its amazing, so im sure your lovin it ha. Keep up the excellent playing and tone man.
stock tubes, but this amp is long gone. have a jvm 205 now with a complete set of tung sol power and preamp tubes properly biased with a cabinet full of greenbacks, mmmmmmmmmmmm
great sound. I've also got a JVM, and they kick ass despite of what people say. it sounds great, it's very versatil and cost less than other good tube amps.
Tasty clip there mate. Your setup sounds great. The JVM is a crackin amp, I love mine! Word of advice though....don't tune down else Nightmarelix will be after your blood!!!! He he!
Smokin' dude ! The Dio riff smacked me in the head ! What were the settings on the amp and what effects were you running? Do you get good tone at low volumes and how noisy is it (gated on your rig?) ?
thanks man, can't remember the settings but was channel 4 some delay in the loop no gate thats why the volume rollback at the end. have a decimator g string pedal that works excellent tho - very noisy amp that corresponds to the amount of available gain. very good tone at low volume but remember, no volume no speaker push
1250 around canadian way more american 2 yrs back from axe music in calgary. I notice on their web site they still stock them and sell for about 1100.

To be honest I think the overdrives on this amp suck. I always use distortion pedals on the clean channel.
Simplstixx16510 4 months ago
is this a better choise than using the JCM800 for a full stack?
pricewise is about the same, but not sure which one to get for my 1960a+b cabinets
anybody knows?

1. Is your delay on for this?
2. Is in the effects loop or in front of the amp?

Scope the Mesa Dual Rectifier or Egnater Tourmaster 4212. I personally liked them for their heavy gain
