  • Now Toyota says they're coming back with a Hybrid in 2012 and Porsche is coming back in 2014. So, 2014, assuming Toyota doesn't drop out, will be the most exciting race since the 90's.

  • bmw in lmp1, petrol engines, lots of competition... in that time i was kid who didn't knew what le mans is.. and now i have to watch stupid diesel racing... :(

  • Nice. He refers to the straight after the Mulsanne as the Mercedes flying strip.

  • Mercedes come back to lemans i hate audi! and peugeot!

  • Porsche needs to build a modern day 962 to show these new diesels what's what. I mean, look at the 1994 Le Mans, where the updated Dauer 962 won overall despite basically being a 4 year old car based on a 14 year old design.

  • 日本のチカラもすごい!

  • Well eventhough in '99, I was just 5 years old. Ten years already, and yet, the best 24 Hours of Le Mans race ever that I know. Hopefully in 2010, it would be much better. I miss those cars like BMW please, make a return to LMP. But whatever, I'm happy to see them racing in the GT2 class =)

  • It was such a shame Ukyo Katayama had that tyre burst. Otherwise his Toyota would have caught the leading BMW on the last lap, and it would have been 1969 all over again.

  • @jdb47games A shame indeed, Toyota was so close, damn that tire!

  • the rules favours the diesel cars. porsche policy is only build petrol cars not diesels so we have to wait many years to see porsche teachs a lesson again in le mans

  • The aerial view of the cars is just amazing. Look at the speed of those cars, my god.

  • few more laps and that TOYOTA would have raped the BMW

  • Haha. But they didn't. BMW won.

  • Good vid. Did you see those Porsche's spin out, that's what happens when your riding rear wheel drive with rear mounted engines, all that weight and friction on those tires. Alright BMW and VIPER!

  • I remember when they won that race. I nearly cried. I have been waiting for BMW to win at Lemans for a long time! Congrads BMW!

  • WOW Loved that race. Thnx for uploading. i was hoping GT-ONE would win but anyway he is still 2nd. mercedes CLR was good on the way but he went on flying. Damn so when is the next LeMans race?

  • There is one every year...2010 will be 12th and 13th of June.

  • This was the race of the century without a doubt, but I think that Le Mans 2011 will be as good as This, as many car makers showed interest is participating.

  • Panoz!!!! Beautifull!!

  • "and the Audi Team can hardly believe their luck..!!!" first poduim finish.. it was what pushed Audi to improve their car and win 8 LeMans in the following 10 years..

well they could hardly believe their luck at LeMans 2009... they finally lost to Peugeot ..

but LeMans 1999 is REALLY the race of the century.. all the dramas, last year Henri Pescorolo raced at age 56.. brilliant, just brilliant

    thanks for uploading..!

  • well said..this was the last le mans i sat down and actually watched. this is the greatest of all in my time..it's been 10 years.

  • I love that BMW

this was an exciting race. Thanks for the upload

  • Bemiden with hot girl at 5:09!!!

  • thanks again for taking me back into automotive history.

  • Yup . I read article about it a year ago but I not remembered where . It about Nissan preparation GT-R LM for participate Le Mans .

  • yea a GT-R is already running in the GT1 class in the Le Mans Series for this year

  • I heard Nissan will participate in Le Mans with new GT-R in the future in GT class .

  • the viper´s were the best cars in gts class during years...i love the vipers

  • Funny that Audi was happy with a 3rd place finish. That'd be horrifying now!

  • hopefully a TS030 equipped with a hybrid engine will soon compete at Le mans

  • Porsche already return but in America Le Mans Series......and i hope Nissan will come back someday.

  • It´s very boring to see Audi winning every year.... Please Toyota, Porsche and BMW come back!!!!

  • Theres been talk of Toyota returning to Le Mans in 2010 with a hybrid engine.

  • I hope it would be true... I heard about a new rule where the "open prototypes" will be replaced by "closed prototypes" in 2010. If Maserati MC12 improve a little it would race in the new LMP class.(new LMP class = current LMP class With no more open prototypes).

  • Yes there will be no more open prototypes when the rules come into effect in 2010. I still doubt whether the ACO would let the MC12 compete. The car wasn't built for any Le Mans competition, its too wide and long.

  • This year audi won by luck.

  • Are you talking about this year 2008? I respect your opinion and agree in parts. For me, the most important factor in Audi win is what I call "Kristenssen Factor".

Peugeot has the best cars, faster than the Audis R10.

Audi has the best endurance pilots (if you look, kristenssen has a lot of experience, and won Le Mans 8 times).

  • Yes, I am taking about this year.

It is all about experience. Hopefully Audi can get more out of the the cars.

  • @Mvc2player Definately, the French Peugeot should not have being fighting the Audi alone, though they did win in 2009 by 908 HDI FAP.

  • FEEL THE BMW POWER...FOREVER...

  • You guys know if it wasnt for the Rear Tire problems which was probably because of the power put out by the Toyota GT-ONE they would've finished probably 1-2-3 but defiently would've won.

  • el Ferrari 333 SP es sin duda el mejor y mas bonito auto auto en pasar en ese certamen, mejor sonido V12 no lo duden

  • BMW PRIDE!!!!!

  • To all drift fans: The Drift King is there on the podium. Keiichi Tsuchiya is part of the 2nd placed Toyota.

  • But, at the podium, who's Tsuchiya?

  • which year Toyota GT-One win at this circuit?

  • lets just say Toyota never won at Le Mans in any car.

  • But they won their class... being the only car who finished on their class. Shame that they didn't won that race. Toyota should own BMW asses that day........

  • even so, i doubt that was much consolation for them. tons of money and time invested in the project, came close on both occassions but not quite there.

  • Oh, yeah. I wonder if the top dogs at Köln are looking back to what they did in the past at Le Mans and the WRC, and their present on F1 and NASCAR, and thinking "What we did wrong? We're near to win Le Mans and we're king of WRC, and now, we are putting a lot of money just to finish 6th in F1 Constructors Championship and only one driver in the Top 35 at the Nextel Cup"

  • Awesome race damn I wanted the GT-One TS020 to win :/...

  • I've watched all 6 parts.

    Great upload thanks.

    Le Mans Rulez!!!

  • Mercedes had only accidents at LM or unrealible cars. Plus mercedes head hates racing, but he can never pull the plug out of DTM, but LM, takes a wonder i am afraid... Pity he stopped the SLR-GT1 production in 2004, b*st*rd :p

  • If a SLR-GT1 had been produced and it had been good, it would have whooped the a**es of Corvette, Saleen and Aston Martin.

  • Mercedes should make a return

  • toyota should have won, all three of them

  • All the P1 cars will be closed top in 2010, and factory teams only. P2 cars can be current open or closed topped, for 2010. There will be a few other closed top cars this year at Le Mans, think creation was going to be one of them. I just hope they look better then the 908's.

  • weren't the cars incredibly expensive? lola is going to build a new B08/70 LMP1 coupe for 2008.

  • Thanks for uploading these. 99 saw the end of all the amazing GT1 coupes, a shame really. I hope that class makes a return someday. Having Bently and now Peugeot is nice, but it's not as good.
