@RedSoxNation92 -- Base cards are the simplest type of cards and are the most commonly collected by set builders. You will get the most of this type of card in every pack of cards. They are usually numbered into the 1-1000 number range and have a relatively plain style to the card. These can now be more easily confused with the many parallel sets that are made using the same photos, but changing simple things like the colors of the border, or other colors on the card.
@nitrousinhalement -- Because everyone that still has them for sale overpaid for them, and now they have to sell them that high, or they lose money. Another result of overpricing cards.
@nitrousinhalement -- Series 2 wasn't out in January, so no one knew how much the price would drop. S1 was the first set of the year, everyone was excited to get the newest cards and bought a bunch, so the sellers increase the prices, which carries over to the next buyer. Eventually, it has to stop somewhere, and when it does, whoever has the boxes will never sell them for profit. That is why I do single cards at dirt cheap prices. I CAN resist the greed for more and more money.
@krisbenham thats why we all love you kris. lol ill just wait then until the price goes down. by the way i was going to make a vid of me opening 32 packs of 1988 topps but i opened them with my dad
@ripleysdude -- You can find a list of the current SP's for any set of cards by doing a simple search on Google. The card company makes the decisions on who appears on Short Prints. I have 1 Wal-Mart Blue Back right now, Pujols.
@mrtapeguy1 -- The only way to know if a card is not a usual card is to study the sets for hours and hours. I have opened and sorted baseball cards for 21 years now, so I know what to look for while opening packs of cards. I know how the companies package things. When I spot something quickly in a pack of cards, it is only because I have seen so many of the common cards that uncommon cards stick out to me like they were painted bright orange. It is just something that happens over time.
@krisbenham well i got two do u want toi buy them i also got a steve carlton orignal back and a justin verlander rookie card and its also orignal are u itnerrested in any of those
@mrtapeguy1 -- You did see that I already replied to your first offer on my channel page, right? I replied well before you asked this same question a second time. Please understand that this makes me think that you are just using my YouTube account to put sell offers in the open, hoping that someone will offer to buy your cards.
@mccormickryan75 -- What I think are the best are not necessarily the best. I like Series 1 Topps because it is the most affordable, you get the most cards for your money, and it is easy to complete the set. You can get a hobby box online for around $82 online. I still won't get them because they used to be $52 a box, and jumbos were $100. Now they are both way out of control. I know that Topps didn't raise the cost of the cases, so these stores are doing the price increasing just for profit.
Hey Kris. I enjoy your videos a lot; very informative.
I wanted to let you know that there have been Cubs SP's with Abe Lincoln in the background, like in the Ryan Dempster base card. I think I saw you pass by it in the third-to-last pack of this video. I'm not too sure, but you should check just in case. That would be awesome.
And it seems the blaster boxes contain the SPs as well. (I was able to get the Granderson Yankee SP from Wal-Mart's box.)
@SungRok -- Daniel, that is huge. I was not aware of that SP until I read your post this morning. Anyone that bought a Dempster card from me may have gotten the SP. I am guessing the umpire in the background is only object that could be made into Honest Abe. Everything else is too blurry or faint. Thank you for telling me about it. Beckett already knew about it as well. For anyone that wants to check their Dempster's, it is card #135 in 2010 Topps. I would love to see a scan of the SP version.
@SungRok -- I don't think I had an SP for the Dempster card. I watched the video again, and you were right, there was a Dempster 3rd pack from the end, but you couldn't tell if it was an SP or not.
@SungRok -- I just wrote 2010 Finest on my list for the next hobby box order, but it will be 2-3 weeks before my next order. I just spent $300 on a card order 2 days ago. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of it so I can shoot the videos for them, and get the cards into the site for the people that need the singles to finish their sets.
@SungRok -- From the time you first posted the info, and I replied, I have learned that there are, at least, 4 Cubs cards in Series 1 that have Lincoln in the photo somewhere.
Have fun paying the shipping on the topps giveaway, idk if yourve read the fine print but you have to pay $2.49 for the first card and .58 for each additional card you want to redeem, so make sure to only redeem the good ones
