Mars is a huge ball of Iron or Iron oxide.. also known as rust.

It has a volcanic past and a history of impacts.

If this is a peice of metal then it is likley it was produced and dropped their by a natural process.

The other "possibility" is that it could be a peice of one of the miriad of probes we have sent to Mars a number of peices are discarded during entry into the atmosphere or any number of lost probes.

It would be fantastic if they could send a rover to view other landing sites!

its a rock, the texture on the 'anomaly' is the same as the surrounding rocks, it's just angled different so it has a darker shade. look at the surrounding rocks and you will the the same erosion lines as well.
