Saludos.
Its funny how in the first book shows how Aubrey met Martin(forget the names) during a private concert of Boccherini, and at the end of the movie, play Boccherini
A fabulous film in which the music amplifies the era. I've read each book in the series and some of the companion books, and it's like nothing I've read before. This was a master work of cinema combined with classical music. What a shame there would be no sequels.
@dz1416 i guess you missed in the translation, same as the translator of that...according to the wikipedia; " Beating to Quarters, is called whenever the ship or crew may face danger beyond what is necessarily expected of them in a life at sea. Quarters are called during storms, battles, and random sightings in the fog", it implies anything more that battle action..
Not much, I imagine either the ship would be back under the control of the French if their captain really is still alive. Or The ship is probably running as normal under British control but they'll need to do a formal change of hands again in order to make the ship (and command) transfer official.
I.e. The ship will need to surrender and then be re-awarded so that it's officially british.
So did the Captain recognize the sword as fake or something and predict the captain of the opposition ship wasn't really dead - is that why they changed course to intercept the Acheron.
@johncharnley1 There was a log on the Acheron that noted that the surgeon, the doctor for the ship had died. Dr. Stephen had read this and mentioned in passing that the only medical help aboard the acheron would be one of their own medics who was subpar. Captain Jack was confused because someone calling himself the Acherons doctor said the captain was dead and presented the blade in accordance with tradition. Officers are valuable so this would allow for an escape.by the acherons Captain.
Theyre ghosting the instruments for sure. They didnt have to learn the music. Besides the violin part on this piee takes some serious skill with the 32nd note arpeggios at the end.
@ShaggyOtis if you watch the special features, they did learn the parts to make it look more realistic but it's not their actual playing that accompanies the film
ah but you are wrong, you see if you watch closely jack stops playing yet his part as far as the violin keeps going. also if you watch the fingerings they are out of sink with the song. they are acting with the instruments.
@SamezXD they really actually did have to learn their instruments for their roles. Not a stupid question, the stupid question is the one that isn't asked. Now you know my friend.

Why did the cello sound like a violin when he first played it?
Asianpersuasion3 1 week ago
@Asianpersuasion3
Just look how high up the neck he played. That shortens the vibrating portion of the string so it actually does play the very same notes.

I wonder if they have kept playing or if they fell out of practice.

Great film, and I love this bit! fantastic ending. Are they ever going to make the sequel that was promised?

This truly was a fantastic movie... surprisingly good pacing for a film that takes place on a single ship 90% of the time.

Love this part! Also, in case you didn't notice, starting around 2:07 you can see the Acheron off in the distance on the horizon.

That is the best part of the movie. "The Bird's Flightless?" "Yeah" "It's not going anywhere"
And then Dr. Stephen Just looks at him like: "Okay, good point"
I roll laughing every time I see that. XD
