  • Thank You!

How beautiful to hear this music; just like home!

I know this song as "Merk, Seele, dir das grosse Wort" by Zinzendorf.

    Anybody know the English version?

  • Thank you for your kind comment. Somehow I didn't this song that you had mentioned in my bavarian music book. Let me know the english version if you have found it some way.

  • I'll keep looking...

BTW,it's supposed to be "Merk, Selle, dir dies grosse Wort."

    Sorry for the mistake.

  • I remember this as a Lutheran (whoops, Wesley) hymn: 'Alas! and did my Savior bleed'. The melody (New Britain) is found a second time in my hymn book. 'Thee is a safe and secret place'. [Sorry for the instinctive reaction to thinking that every hymn in Lutheran hymnbook is Lutheran.]

  • Hi, you are correct to say that this tune is actually for '! and did my Savior bleed'. But somehow since as a child, I had been singing this song "As pants the hart for cooling streams" with the tune:Martyrdom. It may be because we actually belong to lutheran church. Thank you for your information.

    God bless you
