is the sound of this video really low for some stupid reason, or the band designed it to be such, so that it kinda creates this feeling of distantness? you know, you get into outer space, and your voice disappears, or fades away.

@whatsthatthing yes, yes. but the 64 use an FM generator chip, MIDI was only just emerging in the professional market. so you are correct in saying it sounds like the 64, but wrongly assuming this has anything to do with MIDI.

@whatsthatthing MIDI is "just" an interface standard to synchronize musical instruments and send notes, keys, etc. through a cable. MIDI samples are sound files that a MIDI synthesizer uses to actually play those data. They are digital samples; this distinctive sound however comes from analogue (FM) synthesis.
