  • Training on a traditional Classical instrument called a Veena/Vina. Bina.. take your pick. It is the ancient precursor to the Sitar- huge frets and extremely difficult to play well. It has an unbelievable sound, though deep deep deep.

  • Wow!!! You can really hear his Veena training in this solo. That is one of the most moving guitar solos I' have ever heard.

  • @uncasist

Yea, I have the box set at Montruex and listening to it clearly without the tape hiss I can clearly agree about that intro. But he started that training in the early 70's I think.

  • @triofdoom Okay, now, you have a cleaner/clearer audio version of this??? I would love to get a copy somehow. Bands that 'hit the ground running' sound best early in the race. Shakti is one. Mahavishnu is another. I am not sure 'Trio of Doom' ever realized it's potential. They probably needed Khalid Yasin (sp?)

  • @uncasist sorry to butt in, but whats Veena training?

  • Magic

  • we want the rest of the concert as well.

  • @fabianidhesona

So do I, I have it on CD the John Mclaughlin Complete Montreux Box Set , but not on video. Maybe someone can help us out in the future with it.

  • I always get excited to see John as well.

  • @triofdoom he's my favourite musican and artist in general!

  • @triofdoom by the way, where have you found this?

  • @keo774 yea he's my favorite as well. Oh I had this one in my vaults for about a decade, I just thought I transfer some of my stuff to digital.

  • i'm always very happy when I see new mclaughlin videos. and this is really beautyful!
