For those in the Southern California area, the Long Beach Opera will be staging this during their upcoming season (along with Cherubini's Medea, Glass' Akhnaten, and Lang's The Difficulty of Crossing a field) in May 2011.
I'm not affiliated with them except for the fact that I am an LBO season ticket holder. I love their work and I'm really looking forward to this operetta in particular.
I discorvered "Moscow Čerëmuški" on the radio when I was fourteen. Love at first listening. Someday I'll buy the entire work, but it'll be surely a suicide: the only CD available in Italy costs 39.90€!!! Aaargh!
I like the plot. I always was interested in operas but never got the chance to enjoy them just by music. I guess I only appreciate opera by its plots+music. And this is no exception to me; the plot seems so crazily interesting-I like that satirical Stalinism evil stuff. :) I hope I could appreciate it just by its music, though. But I really want to see this actually performed with a plot. Badly. :(
But still, nice interpretation by Rosdezvensky (???).
Thanks so much for posting....however it was my understanding that the role of Boris was scored for tenor.

Well done, imusiciki. I love this composition of Šostakovič, but it is so difficult to find people who know it...
