Most mainstream rappers are wanna-be thugs who are the bad people, we need rappers like (the ones I listed below) in the mainstream so they can get thier message out and the world would be a better place.
Generalizers, fucking ignorant. How about you listen to Nas, some Eminem songs, The Roots, KRS-One, Immortal Technique, etc. before you say that Hip Hop is a bad influence. Mainstream Hip Hop is a different story.
@ScrewMainstream69 nas? isnt that the same brother who made the song called"made you look" which includes violent lyrics....eminem same brother who made the song "will the real slim shady stand up" which includes dirty lyrics
@gentileman23 dude there is a difference between an artist who occasoinally makes gangster rap songs becuase of how they grew up, and an artist who straight makes music for the sole purpose of inspiring people to kill... and Eminem makes those songs for fun.. and vise versa Nas isn't that the same brother who made the song life's a B?
@StreamerVideo brother i disagree with u, gangster rap music is responsible for gloifying gang and gun culture, gangster rap is the reason why there are so many gangs, hip hip is bad, it was ceated to demoralize african american youth
@gentileman23 that is true, I'm just saying there is a difference between having fun making some gangster rap songs and promoting constant degrading material..
@gentileman23 Gangsters were around LONG before gangsta rap started. Most people joined gangs not to be cool but because they "didn't have a choice," they needed to make decent money or for the protection.
@ScrewMainstream69 of course gangs were arounds long before gangster rap, but thats not the point, gangster rap promoted gang culture, materialism and immoral values....and it does encourage more gangs.....gangs are evrywhere now thanks to hip hop
Overgeneralizations about anything - including hiphop - is a bad influence. Like most things in life, there is good hiphop and there is bad hiphop (however you define those terms). To alltogether dismiss such a gorgeous artform is ridiculous.
now, if these same "thugs" were REALLY rebels? They'd stop being "thugs," they'd pick up a book and read *omg shock, I actually said it.* Who do you think wants u to go around in gangs and shooting ppl up? "Da man" who u like to complain about, it means more minorities in the morgue or in prison. This coming from a "white" man. Ask yourself why there are liquor stores and gun stores on almost every corner in the hood.
You know, as much as "thugs" wanna act like they think theyr rebels or something, theyr trained pitt bulls for the status quo. The moment someone has an unpopular opinion, or something that doesn't fit into the mainstream set of beliefs, the thug has already labeled them as "weird." As do ppl throughout society period, but "thugs" try to socially police conformity. Only scene in the world where you';; get ragged on for not smoking the same brand of cigs as everyone else (continued)
whenever one person has something smart to say, they get labeled as "dorky" or "acting white," (which speaks volumes of self-racism itself, b/c it's basically saying to "act black" you have to dumb yourself down-- there really is no way to act like a skin color, no more than a hair color or an eye color). Not only does rap promote deliberate lack of self respect and deliberate stupidity and ignorance, it promotes blatant lack of morals, and mindless conformity.
Any "style" or fashion or music trend, that can convince millions of ppl to degrade themselves and to purposely be dumb and ignorant, and live self destructive lifestyles, is bad. I mean who, with any since, wakes up and says to themselves "Damn, I am proud to be stupid. I wanna be the dumbest person alive."? Yet, rap clearly promotes this shit, if this were not the case then how come when one person out of the group has something intelligent to say, (continued)
FIRST OFF, Mainstream Hip-Hop is and HAS always been ran by the JEWS. They're the ones that continue to pump out RAPPERS who fit a certain ARCHETYPE. Their's so many other artists in the world, but they always shoot for the "street" archetype.
THEY POISON BLACKS WITH MUSIC AND OTHER LOWER INTELLECT INDIVUALS OF ANY RACE.
Some rap songs are negative some are not. You can't stereotype rap as the same subject matter, it all depends on the song/rapper.
Can't blame music for anything, everyone has their own minds and it's up to the parents/guardians to teach their kids not to be dumb enough to let any song influence them into doing crazy things. You can't blame rap for that.
@100pjp001 Shut the fuck up! Dumb-ass, ape. You sound just like Cam'ron's ignorant ass when he was talking to Bill O'Reilly.
Everyone on this planet is programmed. EVERYONE! Thru the media, religion, college, high-school, etc. Rappers talk that life, show that life in their videos and once the people see that these rappers are living waaay better than them, they'll want to emulate them just to live the same.
I see you like Timbaland and you know what he does in some of his songs? RAP XD who's dumb now then saying "FUCK RAP MUSIC" contradicting yourself, you've got issues bruv!
This is my last comment I've got better things to do than to speak to shit people like you, good day!
@100pjp001 You're a fucking, moronic-internet-TROLL who just wants to gain ATTENTION IN ANY FORM POSSIBLE. Get off my SACK!
I STATED TIMBALAND, FOR HIS BEATS, NOT FOR HIS RAPPING, IDIOT. ALSO, TIMBALAND ISN'T EVEN REFERRED TO AS "RAP" HIS MUSIC HAS IT'S OWN FEEL, JIT-BAG. YES HE RAPS, BUT THAT'S NOT WHERE I WAS GETTING @.
RAP MUSIC IS A GOVT. CREATED SYMBIOTE TO HELP STUPIFY AND IRRADICATE THE "MINORITIES", PERIOD.
well, if black kids watches 2pac,it, n jmt, then its really good fro them but if they watch lil wayne n drake, that is just going to ruin their future.
Jaylove is very knowledgable and intelligent. We need more blacks to find themselves and seperate how much stereotype will influence them and what they want the world to see.
Very well done nothing but truth but NO ONE will stand up to this billion dollar cash cow. After the De la soul, jungle brother tribe called quest era came this self degrading nonsense, and Jessie jackson ,Rev al and all these fakes wont march against that, march about that black church no guts huh???
hip hop is not and never was a bad influence but gangster rap and rap in egenral is complety different from hip hop its rap that retarded and draggin down both teh black and white and every otehr community out there.
@soulesseye Gangsta rap opened people's eyes for reality. I wouldn't call Gucci Mane or Lil Wayne gangsta rappers, cause they're neither gangstas or real rappers. NWA, Nas, Public Enemy, Dead Prez, 2pac, they spit the pain of the block that has to be heard. The kids of america need better schools, a father that's there for them and a safe surrounding. Gangsta rap isn't the cause for any of this.
@200damary apart from the fact that he shot 2 police officers, lived in the hood almost all his life, got into trouble and jail all the time, spat the pain of the block, how is he not a gangsta rapper? Enlighten me
No matter what you do, you can't suppress the voice of the people. Humans naturally strive to fight social ills and pursue personal freedom. Hip Hop will never die so long as evil and suffering exists in this world and someone is willing to stand up to it.
Hip Hop is the voice of the people. It a representation of what is going on in society. You believe that the genre is a bad influence because you've never made an attempt to understand it. One is quick to judge when they take little effort to understand it. Take Lil Wayne for example, a product of the industry, who brags about money, sex, and drugs. He is a commercial image, then take Nas, 2Pac, or Biggie. They spoke the truth about the people in lower classes. Hip Hop lacks meaning these days.
@QBisbest Once mainstream America pretty much took control of Hip Hop, it lost it's soul, it's emotion, it's story telling effect, and everything that once made it a great form of music, spoken word poetry over musical productions See, it takes a good eye to recognize the difference between Lil Wayne and Lupe Fiasco. Artists in the same genre, yet artists with two very different sounding materials. A real person can see through the bitterness of Lil Wayne and the honesty of an authentic emcee.
I really liked "The Fat Boys", they had fun lyrics and some of them even had a positive message in them. Not like today when its all about "Ima shoot you with my gat" an N-word this and N-word that.
Even Will Smith has raps without foul language and the N-word and guns and killing.
this guy's cool, has some truths in him & has got the balls to say it!. he's black and he's stating out the negativities about hip hop (ie. black culture).
True hip hop is based on knowledge and wisdom. "hip hop" as we see as a marketing scheme by white record label owners is not true to the definition. example: KRS one=hip hop, Lil wayne-Pop Saigon=hip hop Young Buck=gimmick pop
typical backwards thinking..what you hear today is not hip hop it is a perversion twisted by the music companies that put it out. it is no longer a true reflection of the people who created it because selling out is no longer considered a bad thing, if one person wont sell out another coon will...the money has diluted the message and the will of the messenger.
I understand what you mean by Hip Hop has a bad influence on black children. Some they don't know what their artist are saying and they try to act all bad and tough. Which to me is very stupid and dumb that also can get them kill. And they trying to act tough around me and thinking that will scare me. Mostly some of those children are born from mother and father who don't give a damn about them. And they roam in the street.
I'm all for freedom of speech for artists... but like... having words censored, but not the image of killing someone censored is inconsistent and it doesn't make sense.
I think there is something within people that causes us to seek out destruction; that of ourselves and others. We must realise there are a lot of hateful sources being hurled at us human beings on a daily basis whether it comes through the television, internet or people we meet. You have to know who you are and be strong. A weak person becomes a stereotype. It takes and courage to reject when society tells you that you should be and take the long, hard journey to discover who you really are.
what you are talking about is called subliminal mesages and hip hop is not the only music that carys them metal has a lot of bad mesages so dose pop, rock and r&b but hip hop mesages are just the moste obvieost to notice but most music in away influences bad behaveor
You have to separate the difference between mainstream hip hop and underground. Underground artist ie fiasco, common, mos def promote black empowerment, getting an education, social issues etc. Mainstream promotes stupidity.
man, fuck that shit. Stop blaming hip hop for everything. hip hop is poetry and it's part of black culture whether u like it or not. Have u ever thought of hip hop as an art form and a release?? parents should raise their children to be strong black people who think for themselves and not get so easily influenced by what is on TV or the radio.
man, fuck that shit. Stop blaming hip hop for everything. hip hop is poetry and it's part of black culture whether u like it or not. Have u ever thought of hip hop as an art form and a release?? parents should raise their children to be strong black people who think for themselves and not get so easily influenced by what
in problematic white neightborhoods in Hungary, hiphop also have a great influence. we listen to hiphop because we live in housing projects and identify with the lifestyle. so hiphops influence doesn't stop at the ethnical barrier.
once started to tell the truth now they misuse great Hip Hop to dumb down the masses and keep em ignorant.. thats NOT the real Hip Hop.. these young dudes aint no MCs they are not even real artists.. they in it to make money for big record companies like Sony or Def Jam.. that has nothing to do with the movement.. of course Hip Hop got commercialised but thats the new age.. the roots of Hip Hop remain precious and inspiring.. its all about the choice of the MC.. try Canibus - Channel Zero
man its sad you dont see the whole picture.. first of all Hip Hop is eternal.. The Temple of Hip Hop will ensure this.. this kind of youth culture created by black people was most important especially for black youth.. the poor became graphic and heared plus started to get paid for it.. big step forward.. remember real MCs kick knowledge and money is secondary.. today the whole world changed so they try to change Hip Hop too.. but into a direction thats contrary to its original goal
I don't think hip hop can MAKE you become a criminal but it does certainly have an influence. They are selling an unattainable and unsustainable lifestyle. And it's not not crime, it's the arrogant mentality that the world owes you something, degrading women and spending huge amounts of money on material things, when you could be saving and investing to provide future generationswith a better life
I think the majority of current hip hop is embarassing. Half naked women girating on some ugly fat man who is bragging about his money or cars. It makes Black people look ignorant. The rappers who talk about intelligent things do not sell as many recors, I wonder why? Because somebody somewhere wants Black people to look like fools and the rappers are accomodating this view. It is a joke.
Im glad you agree with me; Music DOES have an influence over what ppl do if there is no major family, or for kids, adults. We are not marrying each other also and back when motown was strong, blacks married a lot
Jaylove47...if hip-hop was to finally disappear out of the blue someday, do you think black children would suddenly prosper and become good/non-criminal children?
My love affair with Rap faded away by 2002 into 2003. I realized I was wasting my allowence money on music that did not make me feel good about myself or my life. At least when I started watching the music videos around 1994-1995, the music and artists still had some quality to there material. For me, Rap music was a phase I began to grow out of beginning at 19 years ago. I can relate to those who rebel against Rap music because what has it really done for me? Nothing good at all!
@suavehinrg THIS A GREAT TOPIC ! I'M GLAD TO SEE A BLACK PERSON WITH THE COURAGE THIS PERSON IS SHOWING! NOT JUST BLACK CHILDREN ARE AFFECTED ALL KID'S, HIP HOP DOES NOT READ BETWEEN THE LINES! IT IS PERVERSE! 2002 2003 OH! YEA! IT'S OVER! THE BLACK FAD IS OVER! IT REALLY FUCKED UP ALOT OF PEOPLE 1 ESPECIALLY THE FEMALES PF ALL RACES , FAD FRONTING IS SOCIAL SUICIDE1 LOOK AROUND YOU ! VERY OBVIOUS!
@mrinformado YES HIP HOP IS BLACK AMERICAS GARBAGE MUSIC. NOT ALL OF IT. BUT MOST OF IT. THE COON LIKE BEHAVIOR, PROMOTION OF DRUGS, SEX AND VIOLENCE IS DISGUSTING.
but..hip hop is not as hardcore as rap.. ppl haved learned from hip hop..and rap ruins u.. rap is like 98 percent garbage..in hip hop u may learn to keep ya head up and keep lovin ya music .. ppl like ll cool j is true hip hop.. but that bullshit like nikki and wayne and bossie ect... they are great entertainers but they are feedin the fans garbage
true black kids who dont like hip hop are cool but ones who do are ass holes and that goes for all people not just black must hip hop fans i meet are ass holes
@MrJJ6640 but some ppl dont like rap.. its hip hop.. theres a difference cuz hip hop is not as hardcore.. hip hop can teach.. rap will ruin ur children
hip hop is the best that has happened to black people since we came to america. now we school the whole world thru hip hop. you cant stop it bro, no matter how much self hate you have
this is y i hate hip-hop ppl r not careful with what they listen 2 like 4 example if there is a song about raping women guys r gonna go out and do that! It's like y cant ppl b more careful y cant they? Just bcuz some song says go rape women or drink or smoke dosent mean u have 2 do it but ppl do it the other way around and they decide 2 do whatever they listen or watch to especially the kids! =[
Not all hip hop is bad. There is positive hip hop such as common, roots, talib kweili, mos def, jurrasic 5, and other conscious rappers that speak on positive and uplifting topics.. So be more direct on the type of hip hop or rap that is bad for the kids.. And yes all of that gun rap is bad for the kids.. But dont generalize on all hip hop.
I'm black and my favorite genres of music are heavy metal, classical and opera, punk, and grunge. The conscious hip hop is okay, but the rest is garbage.
word man there is a lot of negative influence in aLOT of hip hop music. can;t deny that there is good hip hop music tho. Ex. mos def, talib kweli. CONSCIOUS rappers, but sadly no kid wants to listen to that. yea im 16 and i love that real positive hip hop stuff but most kids my age just wanna hear gucci man yappin about slangin crack and "fuccin duh bitchez". it's pitiful, but it's true. one love.
i am not totally agree with you due to the fact that HipHop only affect black children! it affects on everybody! as a christian i definitely think we shall not remain on a race concept or thing like that...
But yeaaah hiphop affects on people that's right!! its alarming!
Hip hop is about control, its about dumming down culture, opressing people, a smoke screen. Instead of kids learning about the realities of history, the idealogies of communism/socialism. Realising the injustice and nonsense around them, instead they see 50 cent with his muscles out slurring about guns knives drugs bitches gangs materialist BS like big rims and maybachs. And in turn it makes charicatures of poor people as bad people, further division between black and white. Its all shit.
reggae makes black peeps hate those types of music??? u really think that?? but, i love ur use of "fatherfucking", tho! is that like "motherfucking" but on a grander scale?
that my friend is more of the mainstream bullshit that Hip Hop has turned into because of people like that. Hip Hop in my eyes still represents a culture that promotes unity, education and peace and dismisses racism and other negative things - it isnt just black people who do Hip Hop, there are many different races that spit lyrics or produce beats. I see your point completely but I love REAL Hip Hop. The kinda stuff that does make you feel good and talks about conscious things.
Im white and english, my itunes is full of hip hop but I recognise it as entertainment. I dont believe any of em are decent people. I doubt any of them have done half the things they yap about. I hate when they pretend that there some messiah and make a song with a message when they are buying diamond watches, and yapping about guns in their next song. It all BS. Its not just black kids that buy into the BS life style, here in the uk white kids stab each other because of the same wannabe BS
Although you like rap no doubt you have had other positive influences in your life. Many disadvantaged kids in the hood that's all they know. It doesn't compared to the well rounded upbringing you have had.
well you're white and english. Why don't you come to New York where I live and see what the so-called "entertainment" you listen to has done to people in the black communities, I learned that the hard way
That was the point I was making. Our black communities are the same, but it isnt just hip hop to blame. Its a whole load of things to blame but the importation of jamaican and carribean violent culture also played its part. Then there is the beef between africans, carribeans. Pakistanis, somalis, eastern europeans, whites etc. I lived in a black council estate (moss side manchester) as a kid, so I know all about gangs, drugs, guns, urban decay. We dont all live in castles and drink tea you know.
Yo Jay i do agree that mainstream hip hop is not stimulating the mind for the young black youth and the rest of the people who listen. That's what's great about the internet your not being filtered if you like Real Hip Hop you should check out 9th wonder and Buckshot! If they were on mainstream which they won't because its always about the money they would make a difference in how people think and most likely make them start doing things that are positive!
keepin it real tho, there are few artists worth lookin up to, sadly they're undergrown or overlooked...its commercial hip hop that fukin things up.
I think we're stuck...blk ppl wana get ahead in life, but "good shit" dont sell. if fifty went around talking about staying in school and gettin a good job...i highly doubt he'd be winning grammy's. so hes gunna say wat sells. it hurts us in 2 ways, either we manifest what he says, or continue the convey the message :s
That is so true Jaylove, people are imitatiing and especially in the black community what they hear and see in music. It's like being popular, this is what is cool to the society. Everybody is advertising some kind or form of swag and competing with others. haha
Yeah...It's sad, because even the younger kids have to deal with peer pressure with these issues.
its not really the artists its the label owners and ppl who own the radio stations who would ratha play fat joe or nelly rather than krs one or public enemy. now i LOVE hip hop but this mainsream rap is just the modern minstrel show they actually market it to the white suburbs not to back ppl. brothas gotta start suporing political hip hop(hip hop is right rap is wrong)
Man, this guy is the man. Your a very smart and intelligent person. At least I agree with your points of view.
Those children you talk about in your video, it is like where did they learn how to shoot like that with there hand. Unless they have a shooting range in their backyard, it is from TV, and movies, and rap videos. This is a great video.
Hip Hop is not a bad influence on kids; TV and radio are bad influences on kids. You can't judge an entire genre of music by how a bunch of young sheep respond to it. They have been conditioned by corporate media to emulate everything they see and hear in their medium to sell stuff. It is called programming for a reason. There is plenty of conscious Hip Hop that doesnt glorify this, why doesnt it get more play?
You are a very insightful, intelligent, and well spoken young man. Your message is very important. Music has always been a way into people's minds and too many let it direct living. Black role models are hard to find in daily contact. It is not education that needs extra funding, it is making sure that children have a chance to see there is so much more to life than killing eachother. Good video.
i think most rappers are just so stupid now i mean, they have no meaning in their music anymore, its all about swag, have a baby by me, or something wit ass shaking, and this is sad coming from a 17 year old but i'm tired of goin to school or out @ the mall and seeing indviduals acting like they in the hood or out in the streets. Or seeing girls bending over wearin things GROWN women wear thinkin its cute. Now hip-hop isnt to blame 4 everything in our communities but it does contribute...
i used to be a big fan of hip hop, but its been getting out of control lately and it really has a bad influence on black kids everywhere ..sad but true
i agree in full w/the hiphop negative energy. i don't let my daughter watch videos or listen to it i pick and chose what music she listens to. this is real talk here. good vid!
i agree with you ---- rappers/artists need to take this negative energy and turn it around and present positive lyrics that motivate our kids. unfortunately kids mimic the behavior of those in the public eye specifically entertainment. you made a comment about being smart and getting A's is geeky; i told my son that brains is an attractive feature to possess. intelligence/smart is SEXY. Looks mean nothing without this..it takes ones own experience to sometimes recognize it
Yeah you have some rappers today that are not talkin about shit. But not all rappers are the same so you can't lump them all together. And what about heavy metal music as sick as that shit is no one talks about that why just rap?
Like females get mad when rappers use the 'B" word. But lets be honest women use that word more than men do the first time I heard the word bitch it wasn't from a man it was from a woman. The first time I heard the word cunt used to white girls were calling each other that so ladies I really don't know why you act surprised when you hear this word when you use it more than rappers do be honest with yourselves.
Why is it hip hop gets blamed for eveything? The black community had problems long before hip hop and so do other neighborhoods. Why get mad when a rapper tells you something thats true the news does the same thing you don't get mad at them. When you go see a doctor about a problem you don't blame him for a problem you already had so don't blame rappers for telling about yourselves cause you had that problem before that rapper addressed it.
I am Asian and I grew up learning not to use the N word, both taught by my parents & teachers. But in school, the only N word that I have ever heard was from Blacks kids, using it on each other. And then also Black music artists using the N word. They don't seem to know that music is the number one influence on kids
@JAYLOVE47. Only thing that angers me about topics like this is that, there is a DIFFERENCE between rap and HIP-HOP. I blame RAP not HIP-HOP. Hip-Hop is not played on the radio no more or, is it displayed on B.E.T. Hip-Hop is all underground. All the B.S. on the surface is CRUNK-POP and, RAP-POP. I would call it rap before I call it Hip-Hop. People need to learn to distinguish the differences between the two. I wouldn't blame any music, Not even heavy metal. I blame the irresponsible parents. :)
@BoyBlaze2002 true in a way. a parent does have some influence over their kids but who do kids say they want to grow up as now a days? it's not mom or dad it's almost always eminem, lil wayne, or some other musician or famous person. its fucked up but it's true.
@D06DD No I do not understand that because blacks as a whole let white mainstream media tell them things that are not true at all. Rap is only used as the bad guy when folks want to blame their own short comings on the rap industry and that is not right at all.
hey j great point, ill write about this in 12th grade i have a paper due probably..make sure you don't OVERblame...pow pow pow pow g unit gunit..okayyyy?where did they get that from?brothas killin...source children learn..information.....COUGH..
bu we have to realize hip hop has a major influence its shaping and molding children...yeah bein a man is all about the ice and killins and pussies and numbers...jerey..all that diamonds and jerey.
plus i think thats why teens are having all these babies and having sex. other than tv they getting this stuff from bad music as well. yes im a christian and now im gonna wittness. to me bad music like that is of the devil. before the devil was sent to hell he use to be an angel and name was Lusifer. did you know he was a musician? when he use to live in heaven? so i truley believe the devil use this kind of music to get to our people specialy our young kids
well sorry people i already know ya'll gonna down me but im against hip hop. my church dont listen to it. its a man who preach about hip hop its call "TRUTH BEHIND HIP HOP" you guys truley need to look at this on youtube. it does get to our young people. did you know that ying yang twins have a video of a blade chopping of Jesus head. check out on youtube this is the truth
I agree with you except some young kids succumb to peer pressure despite having a positive male role model. Kids that are well grounded can draw the line and separate fantasy from reality. However, for those with low self esteem, the bling, sex, drugs and fantasy is far more attractive than anything a parent or a teacher can offer.

FUCK RAP MUSIC! FUCK ANY KIND OF NEGATIVE MUSIC!
iYEMTheGreatest 5 months ago
@iYEMTheGreatest
100pjp001 5 months ago
@100pjp001 Shut the fuck up! Dumb-ass, ape. You sound just like Cam'ron's ignorant ass when he was talking to Bill O'Reilly.
Everyone on this planet is programmed. EVERYONE! Thru the media, religion, college, high-school, etc. Rappers talk that life, show that life in their videos and once the people see that these rappers are living waaay better than them, they'll want to emulate them just to live the same.
MORON.

I see you like Timbaland and you know what he does in some of his songs? RAP XD who's dumb now then saying "FUCK RAP MUSIC" contradicting yourself, you've got issues bruv!
This is my last comment I've got better things to do than to speak to shit people like you, good day!
100pjp001 5 months ago

Anerd8 5 months ago
It's even worse for white children. They teach them self-hate and how to be pretentious and non-authentic.
But it's even worse for non-american african kids. It makes them admire negative (if put out of context) stereotypes they are not entitled too.

Jaylove is very knowledgable and intelligent. We need more blacks to find themselves and seperate how much stereotype will influence them and what they want the world to see.

soulesseye 9 months ago
@soulesseye Gangsta rap opened people's eyes for reality. I wouldn't call Gucci Mane or Lil Wayne gangsta rappers, cause they're neither gangstas or real rappers. NWA, Nas, Public Enemy, Dead Prez, 2pac, they spit the pain of the block that has to be heard. The kids of america need better schools, a father that's there for them and a safe surrounding. Gangsta rap isn't the cause for any of this.

No matter what you do, you can't suppress the voice of the people. Humans naturally strive to fight social ills and pursue personal freedom. Hip Hop will never die so long as evil and suffering exists in this world and someone is willing to stand up to it.
DJRedMEDIA 10 months ago
Hip Hop is the voice of the people. It a representation of what is going on in society. You believe that the genre is a bad influence because you've never made an attempt to understand it. One is quick to judge when they take little effort to understand it. Take Lil Wayne for example, a product of the industry, who brags about money, sex, and drugs. He is a commercial image, then take Nas, 2Pac, or Biggie. They spoke the truth about the people in lower classes. Hip Hop lacks meaning these days.
DJRedMEDIA 10 months ago
Why does everyone keep saying Hip Hop is poetry? It really isn't, its message is garbage.
QBisbest 10 months ago
@QBisbest because your listening to the shit. listen to mcs such as (US) mos def, krs-one, dead prez etc
(UK) jehst, klashnekoff, braintax,
deadpaw 9 months ago
@QBisbest Once mainstream America pretty much took control of Hip Hop, it lost it's soul, it's emotion, it's story telling effect, and everything that once made it a great form of music, spoken word poetry over musical productions See, it takes a good eye to recognize the difference between Lil Wayne and Lupe Fiasco. Artists in the same genre, yet artists with two very different sounding materials. A real person can see through the bitterness of Lil Wayne and the honesty of an authentic emcee.

psidawg 1 year ago
True hip hop is based on knowledge and wisdom. "hip hop" as we see as a marketing scheme by white record label owners is not true to the definition. example: KRS one=hip hop, Lil wayne-Pop Saigon=hip hop Young Buck=gimmick pop
hedgetrimmah 1 year ago
typical backwards thinking..what you hear today is not hip hop it is a perversion twisted by the music companies that put it out. it is no longer a true reflection of the people who created it because selling out is no longer considered a bad thing, if one person wont sell out another coon will...the money has diluted the message and the will of the messenger.
osiris6364 1 year ago
I understand what you mean by Hip Hop has a bad influence on black children. Some they don't know what their artist are saying and they try to act all bad and tough. Which to me is very stupid and dumb that also can get them kill. And they trying to act tough around me and thinking that will scare me. Mostly some of those children are born from mother and father who don't give a damn about them. And they roam in the street.

When they get older, they'll see the true messages that Hip Hop sends and hopefully they'll be able to listen to it without them making trouble.
You can say that Hip Hop is evolving, but not too much in a way we want it to. Such as most rappers talking about Hoes, money, cars, and clothes.

once started to tell the truth now they misuse great Hip Hop to dumb down the masses and keep em ignorant.. thats NOT the real Hip Hop.. these young dudes aint no MCs they are not even real artists.. they in it to make money for big record companies like Sony or Def Jam.. that has nothing to do with the movement.. of course Hip Hop got commercialised but thats the new age.. the roots of Hip Hop remain precious and inspiring.. its all about the choice of the MC.. try Canibus - Channel Zero
RecklezzDJisback 1 year ago
man its sad you dont see the whole picture.. first of all Hip Hop is eternal..
RecklezzDJisback 1 year ago
I don't think hip hop can MAKE you become a criminal but it does certainly have an influence. They are selling an unattainable and unsustainable lifestyle. And it's not not crime, it's the arrogant mentality that the world owes you something, degrading women and spending huge amounts of money on material things, when you could be saving and investing to provide future generationswith a better life
preciousnunique 1 year ago
I think the majority of current hip hop is embarassing. Half naked women girating on some ugly fat man who is bragging about his money or cars. It makes Black people look ignorant. The rappers who talk about intelligent things do not sell as many recors, I wonder why? Because somebody somewhere wants Black people to look like fools and the rappers are accomodating this view. My love affair with Rap faded away by 2002 into 2003. I realized I was wasting my allowence money on music that did not make me feel good about myself or my life. At least when I started watching the music videos around 1994-1995, the music and artists still had some quality to there material. So be more direct on the type of hip hop or rap that is bad for the kids.. And yes all of that gun rap is bad for the kids.. But dont generalize on all hip hop.

Its all shit.

that my friend is more of the mainstream bullshit that Hip Hop has turned into because of people like that.

It all BS. Its not just black kids that buy into the BS life style, here in the uk white kids stab each other because of the same wannabe BS
cityflyguy 2 years ago 3

gatheringleaves 2 years ago
That was the point I was making. Our black communities are the same, but it isnt just hip hop to blame. Its a whole load of things to blame but the importation of jamaican and carribean violent culture also played its part. Then there is the beef between africans, carribeans. Pakistanis, somalis, eastern europeans, whites etc. I lived in a black council estate (moss side manchester) as a kid, so I know all about gangs, drugs, guns, urban decay. natedaug1 2 years ago

Like females get mad when rappers use the 'B" word. But lets be honest women use that word more than men do the first time I heard the word bitch it wasn't from a man it was from a woman. The first time I heard the word cunt used to white girls were calling each other that so ladies I really don't know why you act surprised when you hear this word when you use it more than rappers do be honest with yourselves.
MegaZeitgeist 2 years ago 4
Why is it hip hop gets blamed for eveything? The black community had problems long before hip hop and so do other neighborhoods. Why get mad when a rapper tells you something thats true the news does the same thing you don't get mad at them. When you go see a doctor about a problem you don't blame him for a problem you already had so don't blame rappers for telling about yourselves cause you had that problem before that rapper addressed it.

chingvang559 2 years ago 10

@MegaZeitgeist Bruh he prolly just tryin to say hip hop is adding fuel to the fire. I kno u at least understand that.

@D06DD No I do not understand that because blacks as a whole let white mainstream media tell them things that are not true at all. Rap is only used as the bad guy when folks want to blame their own short comings on the rap industry and that is not right at all.

plus i think thats why teens are having all these babies and having sex. other than tv they getting this stuff from bad music as well. yes im a christian and now im gonna wittness. to me bad music like that is of the devil. before the devil was sent to hell he use to be an angel and name was Lusifer. did you know he was a musician? when he use to live in heaven? so i truley believe the devil use this kind of music to get to our people specialy our young kids
