i threw like him in high school in virginia in the late 70's. I had a lot of Japanese influence cuz I lived in Okinawa and played with Hideki and Johnsan. I left baseball because the coach at my high school was a fucking groper of high school girls. My mom knew and went to report his nasty ass to the superintendent. They called her a liar. I left baseball and my love for it only to return back 25 years later. I surround myself with the best baseball players in Northern Va now and I still throw!
Tim's also an incredible athlete, I wouldn't try to copy that delivery unless you had the ability he does. Great pitcher, if only the Giants could build an offense around him.
...Breve explanation, but it's true he's that good, his motion is the most violent and the most fluent of them all.
Actually: he's less 170pounds to his own words and from the team'S balance.
second he strides 123% of his body lenght (average)
He throws regulary over 96.
Last: don'T copy, take example. Don't drill, nor try long toss, simply pitch again and again to master your motion. Balance, fluency, timing. This is what makes the leg push whip your arm.
zayjah i love how u mentioned the fact about lincecum's hip rotation alot of tim lincecum fans watch his videos on youtube and say its all about his stride(Dick Mills fans), his stride isn't nearly as important as the fact the he rotates his hips well ahead of his shoulders. in my opinion, i believe his long stride benefits him by stealing time from the batter to react which adds to his deception but not much to his velocity
also, look at the speed of his delivery. what may be at 92 mph fastball looks like 96 because of how quickly it comes off his hand. makes it that much harder for batters to read
he is the best pitcher that i have ever seen pitch

his stride is crazily long. he strides 7 and 1/2 feet. which is 129% of his height. most pitchers go 77-87% of their height.

Good video of his mechanics but they have changed a little since then.
I have some info on tim lincecum's mechanics from Chris Linceum because he helped me with my mechanics.
