  • Comment removed

  • The 80's just ruled, enough said!

  • Please Google, WB, EMI, or any music corporation do not remove this video. It's so awesome, puts me in a good mood when I hear it remembering the good times of the 80s and super early 90s.

  • I remember being a little kid in the basement when I heard this song!! I was roller skating in my basement singing it as it played on the radio.

  • this is one of my al time favs!!!!!!!!!!! lovvvvvveeeeeeee the 80s

  • I remember this song back in the 80s, but now that I've heard it as an adult I understand.

  • I just realized- I've been mishearing the line "Throw off your mental chains" as "Grow up, you're meant to change" for going on almost thirty years now.

  • brings back all the childhood memories, god i missed 80s

  • Bravo Howard!!

  • I like this video its like an urban version of the 'Safety Dance' video by Men Without Hats.

  • Roland Jupiter-8 :)

  • happy sound

  • is it just me or does this sound alarmingly like a synthed out version of solsbury hill?

  • @adikshlemarc It kind of has that same rhythm to it.

  • @adikshlemarc This came out long before solsbury hill did, so it's the other way around.

  • @oldVideoGamesChannel Sorry, that's false. Solsbury Hill was recorded in 76, released in 77. Way to correct people.

  • @torgocalgon you looking to go for a swim?

  • @oldVideoGamesChannel ...? Nah, I think I'm gonna go do something else. Good journey.

  • @oldVideoGamesChannel oh alright, thanks

  • A glorious song with a positive message.

  • I'm in love with his hair!

  • John Howard hit #27 in Billboard, 3-31-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • Was this used on a Police Academy film or am I just imagining it?

  • If a tv show or movie brings you to a video, you must be under the age of 25

  • @dr23rdbuchanmd I am under the age of 25, but I wasn't brought here because of a tv show or movie. I just adore the 80s music. Oh and after all, Howard Jones was born in my home town, Southampton!

  • fuck Skins. Breaking Bad ftw !

  • I brought myself here

  • Supergirl

  • skinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnns do i get a thumbs up for saying that lol or skins brought me here how do these people even get thumbs up

  • The 1980s already brought me here in the real 80s.

  • hows it not got 1 million views

  • @robertcarr123

hows howard jones not get to #1 in billboard charts. He's awesome!

  • jupiter 8 ftw

  • Im with Zoth77, we or most of us americans of that era miss reagan.

  • The blonde at 2.48? I don't care about your 'preconceived ideas' concerning her age- she's HOT!

  • 1984 a time when white kids acted white and black kids acted black. Init star

  • The video is 'mazin! 1) Like the old guy in the Rolls, you think he's THE MAN come to subjugate Howard and the girls in the pickle factory, and it turns out he's just the cleaner! Mind blowin'! 2) He runs down the stairs playing a synth solo on his shoulder Moog! 3) He comes into class where some old fool teacher is boring the kidz, and everyone starts bopping, even the old fool! Then like school is out forever!

  • i LOVE Howard Jones. I Wonder what he's up to now ?

  • @NICKY752 Still recording and touring. Going to see him this fall. Can't wait!

  • @luckyday333 EXACTLY!!!

  • Outstanding song. One of the best keyboard solos ever! Howard Jones helped make the 80s music awesome. I can remember when this song first hit the airwaves. Back in 2000-2003 we used to go clubbing at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minneasota. The top floor used to be a bunch of clubs and one of them was "Flashbaxx".....I used to request this song. Where did all the good music go??

Thank you for posting this gem!

  • awsome song. love the message

  • Ah, this sure brings back memories of the good old 80s, though for years, I never knew why he didn't want to be a hip bamboo...

  • I just love this song so very much. It makes me so happy every time I hear it. Indeed, songs like this only were around in the 80's. Nothing like this around anymore. Love the keyboard solo by Howard. Howard was a very talented musician. One of the more underrated artists of the 80's.

  • that guy under the chains is lucky he didnt get his head kicked in by some unsuspecting person....

  • Where are the good riffs these days? And where did that synth magically appear from in that video? Good song though

  • @ThisNamesClass It was stored in the Gents...LOL

  • Listening to this on a good sound system in a bar is marvelous. beautiful synth sounds and drum machines. It's the pinnacle of pop from that era. It sounded so happy even for the eighties. Say what you like, but a lot of good melodic music came out of that decade.

  • @martybop Amen to that my friend

  • It's a really eighties song... what is it about?... no protest because in the 80's we didn't protest anymore really.

For today's standards is shit in the pants

  • @1hairbear

That says a lot for the music we have now - so elloquently put

  • music has lost its nostaligia, because we have just been listening to it so long, if you look just before this you had the 70's 60's, thats when music took off, so this was new for its time, now we are just bored with music, well most of us are, and i find it all sounds like it comes from the same melting pot, been there heard it sort of thing. we are musiced out

  • A hit in The UK September 1983

  • Just as well the song fades out.

If it suddenly stopped, In front of all his new eager followers Howard Jones would be like "well, I mean that's the end of my record" scratches his arse "I'm gonna go home and play Tekken"
