So, I started the download, and it's a zipped file, so I am going to unzip it with winrar, where do I unzip it to? Does it matter? And how do I find the .iso file in it, just look for it I suppose lol. So after I unzip it, find the .iso, and burn it to a blank cd/dvd? Am I right?
Thank you. I was tearing my hair out wondering what I was doing wrong. When I got to part asking for a "Mount Point" I ignored it. The only things I mount in life are nubile young women. One lousy little forward slash could cause so much heartache.
to burn the iso image on windows download a program called infra recorder its free and easy to download then run infra recorder and seclect the ubuntu iso oh and btw wen u open infra recorder u want select burn image then once u chose the iso and click burn after u put in a blank cd it shud burn it then u have a ubuntu cd

And my second question is: at 6:52 it's partitioning your drives. If I choose the right drive so my second drive will it only partitioning the second drive?
after install i click on ubuntu from boot up menu but before it even gets to the desktop my monitor goes black like my monitor is not cooperating with it can ya help??
Hey! I'm gonna move from this shitty Vista to Ubuntu, will there be an option for formatting the drive in the installer or do I need to do that before?
ubuntu will allow you to format the drive when you install, however, just realize that that will erase everything (including ur files) on the drive so make sure you have them somewhere else before you format it (flash drive, backup drive, another place pretty much)
i made a mistake on the downloading ubuntu couple times plus i did not made a partition. Now i need to know how to uninstall and the problem is i fucked the vista i had by trying to hack into xp that showed up on the dual boot. im stuck and i do nt have any video cause my memory is too low to download the flash player on the linux.post me instructions in here....

Guys, I've downloaded UltraISO and DeepBurner, none of them can burn Ubuntu's ISO image into my CD-RW, according to DeepBruner: "Writer error (Not ready (Cannot write medium - Incompatible Format))

Thanks man. But my cd is retarded. A box that says "Inst" with a lock on the left and a big box with an x covering the rest of the word install. How do I get rid of that?
installing programs on uubntu is very simple. no, you cannot install your standard windows applications, however you can install the open source programs by clicking on applications and then add-remove and you have thousands of free opensource apps and tools there
on start up just press F2 for a couple times.that should enter set up mode....usee up and down arrows and choose BIOS setting...set Cd/Rw to number one
When i installed it it didnt come with the sound driver i cant cant hear anything can someone give me a link to a download a also tell how to install anything because im new at linux ubuntu thanks
you cannot play games for windows on linux natively, and to emulate them is usually an epic fail. however you can dual boot to still run your windows games or play the open source games that are downloadable for linux

ummm...are you talking about when u install or when you are in the dual boot menu? cuz when you install you need to make sure it dosent overwrite your data, so probably go with the dual boot option...in the boot menu it is just asking what os you want to boot into
guys, to install on a PC, download a program called UltraISO, download the trial version, and once installed, run it and go to the top tabs and go to Tools>Burn CD/DVD Image, and then clik on the Ubuntu Iso Image then brun it to a CD/DVD at the lowest speed, which should be 4X
I downloaded the second option that it gives on the ubuntu website but it seems different
these are the two options:
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition - Supported to 2011 Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server Edition - Supported to 2013
I downloaded the second one but I don't know how to use it; it only gives me letters but I don't know how to get onto my computer I think I should have downloaded the first one....
hello? can anyone tell me how the heck I can use ubuntu as my main os, nope, not dual boot.. just the ubuntu... cuz all the instructions I see are about dual booting and stuff
hey man, i dont mean to be rude, but its not that hard to figure out. install everything the same way, just when you get to the partitioning, just say use the whole drive instead of creating new partiitons and such- then it will be just ubuntu (will distroy all data on drive! backup!)
i started it up the first time and it asked for my username and password. it said user login in 10. it counts down, the screen goes black and it happens all over again. what do i do?
really man, i am not rich at all, most of my equipment is 7 years old (both my monitors and my computer), since then i have replaced the insides of my computer to make it more modern, and that was about $300 - i finally replaed the white moniter about a month ago because it was about 10 years old
than just no desktop effects, but it said "desktop effects could not be enabled" i even tried it on one of my better comps but that didn't work either, any suggestions?
i am not sure, i would suggeust looking on intel's site, it should tell you, if you cant find out, you can always burn a 64 bit disk and if it dosent boot then go back to the 32/x86 disks... if you do mind a bit of wasted time and a disk
I installed ubutnu on a laptop that didn't have a installed OS... and now when i try to install Windows XP it doesn't work.. how do i install it on ubuntu..plz help
as far as i know, you have to install xp/vista, then install ubuntu and you cannot do it the other way around, however, i am sure if you look around the internet i am sure you can find something
Yeah, i looked around a bit and found a All in one boot program disc... so that i could open a partisioner on boot-remove linux-and install windows :P
There was no reason for you to do this and you did. Just want to say Thank you and am truly grateful to you. Your act of altruism is commendable. Peace be with you always.

guys, to install on a PC, download a program called UltraISO, download the trial version, and once installed, run it and go to the top tabs and go to Tools>Burn CD/DVD Image, and then clik on the Ubuntu Iso Image then brun it to a CD/DVD at the lowest speed, which should be 4X

ZeekBrien 3 years ago
hey man, i dont mean to be rude, but its not that hard to figure out. install everything the same way, just when you get to the partitioning, just say use the whole drive instead of creating new partiitons and such- then it will be just ubuntu (will distroy all data on drive! backup!)

There was no reason for you to do this and you did. Just want to say Thank you and am truly grateful to you. Your act of altruism is commendable. Peace be with you always.
