  • The real significant number I heard hear is 6% decline in reserves that is alarming. We consume 3 times more than the extra we find. This will describe the size of the coming crash. We will bounce back and crash to follow the long term trend of 2-3% decline.

Richard Heinberg also connects to permaculture. This is the only positive hope I can see along with understanding that reduction is unavoidable and this is not a conspiracy.

  • @redhat123456789 I recommend some philosophy (mostly epistemology), economics, and praxeology courses.

  • @redhat123456789 I can post this because I understand economics and the nature of wealth creation. It is clear that you do not.

  • @redhat123456789 I'm talking about economic growth not physical growth of anything in particular. Economic growth can continue on forever since it is fueled by human exchange and ingenuity. This is economics not mathematics. The mathematics is necessarily true but it's what it means for an economy that matters. Understanding what economic growth is by understanding what an economy is reveals that to you. Mathematics is useless without the context and understanding of what it's being applied.

  • @redhat123456789 Correction. Significant economic growth cannot take place without energy. Oil is one cheap abundant source. We have access to other energy sources which are not as cheap but still affordable. There was economic growth before the use of oil so I have no idea where you get that idea. Economic growth is fueled by people. Cheap energy enables faster growth. It is a catalyst not a necessity. I'm not in denial. I understand economics.

  • @redhat123456789 Individuals will have it tougher and economic growth will slow down but economic growth is driven by human beings not oil. Economic growth will continue and civilization will continue to make progress. People make out as if everything will halt to a screeching stop and there will be chaos, economic stagnation and instability to the point where we will revert back to the dark ages or something.

  • @redhat123456789 Cheap oil and therefore cheap energy has been a wonderful luxury and soon it will be gone but civilization will continue to thrive. That is my point.

  • its all a scam. first of all, the "elite" is not depended on oil. they use the false flag oil shortage in their favor to sell for a higher price.. the truth is oil is everywhere. the people who control oil extraction just want to leech the general population. trust me, look into it.

  • @vikingvic you are a fucking moran

  • @rea082151 of course .

  • It's just he end of cheap energy not the end of civilization.

  • What i want to know is where 90% of human of get the idea that they are clever. If i had my way, I would make every able bodied man Woman and child do their bit to build a renewable energy infrastructure reguardless of their f..king rights. We have had decades to sort this out.

  • woops.. i knew i had forgotten to do something over the last twenty years.. like prepare for the decline in industrial human civilisation.

  • We've been using 6 barrels for every 1 we find....that's not the kind of bank account I'd want to depend on....

  • @dieudutonnerre Your statement contradicts itself. Just like my dick inside your mom last night. I take it out but it goes back in again.

  • hm, last book i read by jean ziegler shows another perspective. in my opinion it´s doubtable if an "economist" reveals the truth about pollution and human rights. there are many bad examples....but anyway the question of energy efficienty in producing biological fuels is another big question. as i know, with today´s technology you need more energy from fossil fuels to produce biological fuel, as you can earn from it.

  • Brazil is investing heavily in renewable energy....as a result the country is facing a massive change: economic boost!

  • @Lima547 but this renewable energy causes elimination of natural rainforests, millions of ppl have nearly nothing to eat. it brings more profit for this so called "boost" then feeding the population...

  • @domdadon018 its interesting to know how mistaken is people's view about Brazilian agriculture.....The Economist published a clear picture of what was a very basic agriculture 40 years ago and today is Top Five Exporters, with constantly reducing cut in the forests.........Just Google "The Miracle of Cerrado" The Economist.

  • Its now 2010 and oil is 80 dollars a barrel, this is four times the price in 2002 and we are at the bottom of a recession.

  • Thanks for the good news James !!!LOL

  • I think unlike Y2K global oil production will peak and will actually happen.

  • @vanfarowe

Of course Peak oil will happen. It has happened in something like 54 nations already. It will happen in the remaining 14 or so nations that have yet to peak. The world will peak... The world is starting to face the export land model and nation after nation is facing energy descent... population die-off will be on the news all the time for the next decade with increasing violence and less ability to do anything about the unfolding crisis.

Is it too late to do anything already?

  • Wow, peak oil denialists, global climate change denialists are seemingly everywhere. I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves (at least for the time being LOL). Our species is on a high speed collision course with a massive WALL of reality. Good luck to each and every one of you.

  • @SCOTCHSOLACE screw them. your too nice, i dont anyone of these ignorant, hedonistic selfish people to survive. if you cannot see the problems that encompass bigger things other than the latest ipod etc then you deserve to go down with the party ship :-)

  • What film is this from does anyone know? Would love to see the rest..

  • I believe this is a clip from Oil Smoke and Mirrors which talks about peak oil but also about the questions remaining about the nine eleven events.

  • brilliant thanks!

  • this is all bullshit

  • Peak Oil is not bullshit. The UK, as well as many other nations, are in big trouble in the near future. The North Sea Oil Fields have been in depletion since 1999. Unfortunately for the UK, you have very little in regards to natural resources.

The IEA just recently sent out its annual energy report, and it said that world oil is depleting at 9% per year, while current demand is increasing around 1.5% per year.

    It is a huge problem.

  • another vote for the "finite resources will last forever" crew.

  • the part everyone forgets starts at 5:50

  • Ok, it's not like the governments and the people who run the world don't see this coming...And if they did see this coming, wouldn't they do something... If the general public knows about peak oil... the elite, government, and heads of industry knows 100 years into the future of oil production.

Trust me, they don't just let it slip their minds, that would be rediculous.

  • And what exactly would they do about it? Fess up? That'd be political suicide. if you think about what's needed. No, much easier to start a war or divert attention to the now acknowledged climate crisis and so forth. To admit that economic growth is over forever is simply not an option to the elites.

  • MSG ME ON MSN MESSENGR !!! ID IS jane21dame. im bored and need someone 2 talk 2 Q

  • i wonder what's will happen to oil company stocks ?

i know that when it hits ,so called demand destruction will start @ around $140 barrel as we wittnessed this year, however i doubt that actual demand has fallen...it seems we still use over 85M b oil in a DAY!

especially demand from china ,india ,developing natinon are unlikely to ease ,they need food.

there may be people dieing from hunger..

    or riots for food etc.

  • Peak oil = the rest of the world is no longer willing to let U.S. use 50% of the resources

and only have 6.5% of the pop. $ is no longer world reserve currency (petro dollar)

Production is suppressed by Oil Oligarcy, for purpose of price fixing. "As you sow so shall you reap" chickens always come home to roost.

    western hegemony is finished

  • If the US economy goes down, the industry goes down, agriculture is an industry.

  • If the USA politicians were smart, they could curve their oil consumption by 50% in a very short time. I am from Canada but i have family in the states, and I love visiting the USA.

    T. Boone Pickens is correct. The USA needs to act now. The states have the potential to produce vast amounts of electricity through wind turbines. No other country has the wind resources as the USA.

The politicians need to get their head out of their ass, and tell middle eastern oil countries to suck mud !!

  • I feel that one of the best sites to Google is:-

    "Chris Martenson"

    "Crash Course"

...It is a set of award winning short videos on the subject of 'Energy', 'Economy' and 'Environment' that will fill many of the gaps in previous thinking. Chapter 17 is worth paying particular attention to!!

  • Chris Martenson's site is really nice, and a good intro to the problem.

  • Most people still won't believe it as it's staring them in the face.

  • that's called natural human denial, you will see those type of people getting all religiously and fleeing into other superstitions only deny the realty of facts
