Knowledge is the source of happiness in this world. If you don't know what is inside a dark room you're about to enter, you may either avoid entering it or you will experience fear while entering it. This is called ignorance. A simple knowledge of what is inside of that room will remove the fear and anxiety. Ignorance is NOT bliss. Knowledge is. (This example is very simplified, but you can apply this line of reasoning to anything.)
Hinduism has really nothing to do with Vaishnavism. Iti is better to use the time to speak about Vaishnavism instead of Hinduism as a culture,

I only met Suhotra Swami once while traveling on the RD bus. I remember him as a big jolly devotee, smiling and laughing.
