  • 2:40... advance, lunge.

  • This stuff is garbage, who gets in knife dules anymore. If you think this is how knife attacks go down, talk to actual criminals who use knives. They will tell you different.

  • This is not, in any way, supposed to simulate a real knife attack. The sparring in FFS is all about teaching range, timing and footwork. Some of the guys get competitive and it becomes a bit sporting, but at it's core the sparring is all about appreciating the effective distance of a knife and training your reaction times. Once again NOT intended to look like a real knife attack.

  • ok! thanks for the clarification! I like some of Ray's stuff. The man is knowledgable to say the least!

  • By that logic, training in boxing or BJJ is useless. It's just isolating a certain part of a bigger picture. If you look at Ray Floro's DVD, there's stuff on knife sparring but then it goes on into improvised weapons and then unarmed vs. knife (which covers knife assaults).

  • theres a few things i like, one was that both were laughing and joking while sparring. I think it's healthy! theres no ego. Jus a friendly exchange of techniques and a great learning process. And another is the great emphasis on distance and timing. no wasted motion. Would love to learn! :) keep the vids coming! awesome!

  • Maybe it's for the sake of filming but why are you not circling? You guys just stand there waiting. More bobbing and weaving would be useful as would bringing back the weapon hand to block after a strike.

  • Is cool to see Ray move with a stick, those leg shots looked like they hurt!

  • Nice! You know what? Training with Ray is one of the things I miss most about leaving Sydney...

He is soooo damn hard to spar against, which is why it is so good to train with him.

  • Nice one mate, did you add to the "spew" bush at all?

  • Good work Joe, his speed, timing and accuracy are scary. I know!
