@Kuner1 actually in high school I became and anti-bully. I may not be strong but I was smarter then them. I would throw an insult at who ever was the lowest in their group(was never hard to figure out) usually after they tried to insult. This created one of two results. The group liked me and left me alone laughing at their "friend" or people who like the person would end up in fighting and I'd leave. also i'd do this if they picked on others

@drunkendan I got suspended 3 days back in 9th grade b/c I pushed a kid who was giving me a hard time and I fucked up his tooth or something. The funny thing is, he didn't really want me to get in trouble and he wasn't going to give me a hard time anymore, but a certain snot-nosed bitch decided to escalate the situation anyway. The suspension ultimately had no effect on me b/c I was a good student and not a repeat "offender," but it's still bullshit that I ended up on the short end of it...

@drunkendan ...policies like the zero-tolerance policy that my school (and apparently your school) had send the message that standing up for yourself is unacceptable. I was bullied throughout elementary and going into middle school and was afraid to stand up for myself probably because of that policy, and the one time I actually did it bit me in the ass. This needs to change.
I laugh at this stuff now, but I know for a lot of people it's not that easy. Good luck and keep your head up, man.

If Texas wants to reduce school violence they should first stop inflicting institutionalised violence in the form of corporal punishment. If you teach violence you get violent behavior.
Also the teacher in question, by calling the police in, was clearly participating in the bullying, further evidence of institutionalised violence.

What happens if they decide they don't want to pay the fine because it's unjust, as in this situation? Juvenile detention? It must be. How are the kids meant to pay the fine anyway? They're kids, they go to school. They don't go to work where they can earn the money to pay these fines. Their parents do but I'll tell you what, if I was the parent, I would refuse to pay that bullshit. The thing is, then, the kid's not gonna get punished, the parents are. The whole idea is offensive to me.

the school systems dont care about the students in the first place, this is a perfect example of how the school system is just another corporate money hungry bureaucratic machine. one of the few times extreme sentences should be carried out is with corruption and that includes those in the school system, if i had any power, that teacher would have a 5000$ fine and a minimum of a year in prison, the superintendents would be getting life.

I grew up in the Texas school system and I was bullied. The Texas attitude toward the bullied is that it will "make them learn to take up for themselves." The "adults" actually encourage bullies. While there are things that I love about my home state, I'm soooo glad I don't live there any more.

I support the school and the school system entirely on this. The school has a duty and right to fine and punish students that get out of line. This child was clearly out of line for in posession of a substance called perfume. You go to school to learn and do your work not fucking apply perfume and customize yourself.
