As well as WW1 was not really a technological war besides the tanks which Central powers had but the Allies made them before the Central Powers did! So really no Irony

@Savaris7 well, chemical warfare and biological warfare overlap in a number of areas, so not really all that different. and to clarify, no it was not a technological war (which wouldnt happen until ww2), but it was the first mechanized war. there were some vehicles, submarines used en masse, and airplanes, lighter than air dirigibles, and tanks i never said that central never had tanks, i said that the allies invented them, thus making the 'step forward' that i mentioned

I love the Leviathan series, and I only read them last month. All I can say is its a lot better than a lot of the stuff I see on bookshelves, and Keith Thompson's art is awesome <3

At First, I was a hardcore Darwinist. But when I read Behemoth, I automatically switched to Clanker. Partly because how unattached many Darwinists are to their beasties. I really liked these books at first, but after thinking about it. I really did't like that Scott Westerfield portrayed the Central Powers as "bad guys". There are no good guys or bad guys in war. Another thing I did not like was the fact that in the book it said that the Germans assassinated Arch Duke Ferdinand when in it was really Serbian terrorists. They were nothing more than terrorists and yet history and people like scott westerfield portray them as "good guys"

@garricus1 the book takes place in an alternate universe where it was the Germans who killed the archduke and framed the serbian terrorists, so obviously its not going to folllow history. No one in this universe still argues that this is what really happened.

@garricus1 First of all, it IS clearly stated it's an alternate history where the German conspiracy is what Westerfeld decided to use. Even when writing history, authors have a creative license. Also, the good guy/bad guy thing. My AP history class had the general opinion that the Central Powers WERE the bad guys even before learning about the war. After learning? People still thought they were the bad ones because of how they started the war. War (and people) are biased. In fiction AND reality.

@garricus1 I'm no history expert. I'm just stating what I learned in a class from a college textbook and teacher. The stated reason in there was Germany did not have to back up Austria and set off the domino effect. It WAS everyone's fault. The world was still quite imperialistic at the time and all wanted power. War was inevitable. Besides, either side, it doesn't matter, people will label them good or bad. Humans are raised that way. If not, then there would be NO wars. I do see your viewpoint
