The only problem I see is the with the angle of the claws. They should look like there coming straight out of the back of his hands.... but they are slightly angled. Other than that they look great and are animated very well. I give it a 9.8 out of 10.

My best tip is if your going to be doing any chase scenes make sure to use a camera stabilizer. You can build them for 15 bucks just google DIY camera stabilizer :)

TY, I actually did not make real claws, I simply cut out a picture of claws and overlayed them on the video, then animated them to the actors hands :)

Looks cool. But what is steadicam actually? How much does it differ from a original videocamera?

steadicam just refers to when you use an item that allows the videographer to move around freely and have a smooth shot. It is usually just something you mount your camera on, like a counterbalance :)

Love the claws man!! This is an effect I have been wanting to do.. maybe I will eventually. I will have to find some 3D claws rather than the 2D claw pics that I have to make it look right.

I think the 2D ones work quite well if it just a quick shot like this, if your actor is gonna be all over the place I would definitely suggest just building some claws. Plus then you got some bad ass claws to run around the house with on rainy days.....BTW any children reading this, never run with claws :)

Nice! The framing could've been a bit more consistent, but I know it ain't easy to keep up with a running subject - especially over rough terrain! The motion tracking on the claw effect was fairly tight, but I would've liked to see maybe one more frame of the claws coming out of the hands. They seemed to appear, when they need to grow. Still, good experiment! I always like to see what you come up with!

Thanks I always enjoy your comments :) Yeah this was the first real test of this steadicam build. We did so many takes just runnin through the damn woods we must have looked insane. I too would of wanted more claws, but all the other shots were absolutely terrible to track, in the future I have to remember to always have the camera on a tripod when tracking, or at least put tracking dots on the subject before hand.

Yeah, man. Motion tracking is no joke. Especially if there's so little contrast to work with. You end up basically animating the video frame-by-frame...and that kinda defeats the purpose of using programs like AE.

Have you ever used "Vue"? I hear it's where it's at.
