By the sounds of all the comments you guys must not be from Australia, as an aussie I've been fortunate to first heard Tommy well over 20yrs ago, it's great to see people appreciating some of the great talent down here.
He has a brother Phil, who is a fairly well known guitarist also but Tommy is the better of the two imo.
wow, I just discovered this guy and clicked on a couple of videos to check him out. It feels like I've got a whole decades hunt for fabulous music in just one guy, one guitar and spine shivering precision
This is gonna sound goofy, but it's from the heart so bear with me.
I understand that everyone is good at "something". All of us have a skill we were born to do. Some find it; many don't. And in some cases when you see someone who has found the their "something", it's almost like you're witnessing greatness.
Mr. Emmanuel is the finest guitar player I have ever heard. I find myself comparing other guitarists to him. Not a fair comparison, but I can't help it. I love this dude's playing.
I met Tommy when he performed in Dallas last summer. I had the unique experince of hearing my guitar played like it will never be played again and the he signed it for me. He loved my guitar because it is rare 40 year old Brazillian made rosedwood acoustic that has done nothing but omprove with age since I bought it 40 years ago. Tommy is is a ver humbling person and is not a stuck up individual. Seeing him live is an experience of a life time. To me: God's gift to tell the rest of the world.
I must have one of those Maton guitars, they are definitely the way to go. Notice these things... that guitar is pretty old, It´s been hit thousands times per year, it´s been "tortured" a thousand times when he does that whammy bar effect where he forces the neck.. and in spite of all that the tuning was perfect even when he removed the capo...
(wow that sounded like a cool rewiew.. I could work for Maton guitars lol)
Wow, never seen anyone D-tune half way through a medley and continue so effortlessly. Tommy is my hero, everything he plays is awesome, the true and only master of the guitar. Any style, any genre, he never fails to play beautiful music to inspire, heal and entertain.
I guess Tommy is a hero for many people, at least for me and you;) Tommy has got what it takes to be a true performer. Like they say, Tommy is like a god.
I learned about T Emmanuel just a month ago. Just got to say everything he does is just amazing. I've played guitar for over 40 years but didn't imaging you could use the guitar the way he does, Great video again!
SUPERCOOL!! Was filmen tijdens het optreden toegestaan? Of heb je gewoon een camcorder naar binnen gesneakt? :P Ik ga binnenkort ook en ik wil graag opnames maken maar volgensmij is dat verboden..:P
GO TOMMY!!!! I hate it when my monitors feed back... although i cant really just kick them out of the way, i play keyboard and the buggers are too ffar away for me to kick them easily.
So beautiful! Im glad i got tickets to see him soon. I noticed his skills as a guitarist especially while trying to play his songs. They are very well composed and they include some extremely difficult fingerstyle. I've been playing for atleast 10 years and i find it hard to stretch my hand like he does and to push the fretboard with such complicated chords. But im workin' on it :)
Is that what it is?????? I can't stop myself either.
Just trying now to pass this new 'addiction' on to my buddies and to introduce Tommy to them so they won't miss him when he comes here in a couple of weeks.....
@Yami02blue exactly what i said when i first watched him on youtube. i found out one week later after watching "guitar boogie" by looking at his website that they were playing at a venue an hour from my house and i was instantly astounded by the idea of actually getting a chance yo see him live. i purchased the tickets, went to the show, left with my jaw locked on the ground. it was a once in a lifetime experience thats a must. i was in awe the entire concert.
@Yami02blue I saw him live and he was out of this world...hard to believe anyone could be that brilliant. It took me hours and hours to come down from the concert.
didn't you know that he always does? it is something a guitarplayer really should do if he is not the ultimative genius of beat : ) He said in a video he started that very early.
I wish I could of started early. For me I guess the saying is true, " Once you find something you want to do for the rest of your life, its already too late. "
I didn't know al gore plays guitar that well

This guy is so good, it's almost like his playing is unbelievable. I just found about him tonight and I'm totally blown away.
I can't imagine what it's like to see him live. If I'm this amazed by watching a video, I have no idea what my reaction would be watching him live.
I've listened to this 5 times in a row so far.
