i don't know why, but there were times while watching this when i wanted 2 cry. i can't imagine how it really must have been, with women getting telegrams informing them their husbands had been killed or were "missing in action". how many boys especially, who really need a father figure, descended into delinquency with out a man 2 guide & teach them; how many ppl died during bombing. & what of unwed women finding them selves "with child"; what happened 2 them? don't know what more 2 say...
The Husband/Father was absolutely useless!! That would be my Dad saying doing dishes is womans work,, and carving a Spitfire plane from wood instead of helping with cleaning after bomb. Ugh!! If it was sooo,, My Mumma and I would chuck him out into the Anderson and let him live out there. Lol
Wow, what an awesome family compared to the useless, whiney and vulgar 1900's house family that were such a pain to watch. This was an absolute pleasure!
My mom grew goosberries and currents because of her childhood. That probably has to do with people growing their own berriies. That is probably why currents were in recepies. They are so easy to grow. The 1940s house forgot to plant them.
@BloodyLisBeth Thank you, too. We don't share things, that 'we' perceive to be rubbish. We're grateful when others also enjoy them. Take care my friend.

@kririr777 I agree, it was painful to watch the 1900's house. Also the Frontier House is hard to watch.

The conclusion is the best anti-EU argument there could be, for England and the rest of Europe. Change by example...

The war slogans from that time are not a far leap from what Huxley or Orwell extrapolated on.
