@jerec576 Yup. He play off center directly over it. It helps acheive a faster airstream for higher notes. He once had it filled and couldn't play high anymore. So he had the cosmetic work undone and got his range back.

Jazzfreak's right. Faddis is an amzing player, but this is just loud high noise. And to James, if you actually took the time to transcribe this stuff, you'd see what we're talking about.
god youre so ignorant. Post yourelf playing beacause ummmm.. if ANYBODY can play that then i think YOU are included in that right? So post a video please of playing like faddis, oh wait a second you cant beacause youre not godly like he his, so dont say anybody can play it. twit..
korjek, bugger off before faddis shoves his horn so far up your arse your tongue will be gold plated. He's known for being a spectacular range and high note player, if you don't know that then you don't play trumpet...

This is one of the worst trumpetplayers I know. I'm sorry to say it for those of you who likes him a lot. But I can't stand the way he plays in the higher register. I can warmly recommend the swedish trumpeter Jan Allan. He has a very warm and good tone. It's him and Miles Davis. Roy Hargrove works too. :)
He has good tone in the high register and it is amazing to even be able to play a tune in that high a register. Most players can't even get a long tone of it.
Hey look guys you play for the people - If Im doing a lounge gig I dont scream but this kind of playing requires it all - my hats off to john ----rocket montreal
i agree with you...saying that someone shouldn't play in the high register so much is like telling freddie hubbard and sean jones not to do so many runs and trills..or telling brownie not to tongue nearly everything in his solos...thats just his style...don' t knock it because you can't do it
Faddis not a "serious" jazz player? I can see someone saying they didn't like it when he played in the upper register so much but to say not a serious jazz player? Maybe that was from one of the people who can't play as good as him which would include just about everyone. Thats like saying Art Tatum should have tried a different instrument. Get serious.

He's a wonderful player, and he's extremely talented musically and physically, but he chose to highlight his upper register in most cases. "Into the Faddisphere" may have been his downfall as a "serious" jazz trumpet player. Listen to enough of Faddis and you know that he's got the chops for good jazz. He's just trying to highlight his wonderful talent for being a high note player, and people criticize him for that. Think of Faddis as the new and much improved Cat Anderson.
dizzy is without a doubt one of the most influencial players ever...I mean he reproduced players like Arturo and Faddis..helped out Freddie...and many others...but credit for all those players are enough if you ask me lol

Point of fact, jon played a double C, when Diz shook his head in disbelief, not a D..
Jon plays his high C and Double C with first valve. He says it slots better for him.
