  • Jon faddis - Maynard ferguson -= cat Anderson

  • what year was this??

  • man he is insane!

  • Man, a high C is like playing in the staff for this guy.

  • sounds just like a song off of Hornucopia,I'll let you be the one to figure out which.

  • what concert is this?

  • @dan1880712125847

Dizzy's 70th birthday I think...or something along the lines of that.

  • I am incredibibly jealous of john faddis. That friggin chipped tooth. He incredible nonetheless, I couldn't improve like that.

  • he has a chipped tooth?

  • @jerec576 Yup. He play off center directly over it. It helps acheive a faster airstream for higher notes. He once had it filled and couldn't play high anymore. So he had the cosmetic work undone and got his range back.

  • Jon Faddis is a freak....Nice, I loved the video.

  • very good!!!!!!

  • I like high notes

  • Is he wearin knickers..?

  • I love watching Diz' facial expressions in the background.

  • If i would be forcibly controlled to do such a piece with my trumpet, my lips would rip apart themselves.

  • Que pedazo de BESTIA!!

    "What a piece of BEAST!!!

  • the man's obviously sold his soul to the level. his technique exceeds human limitations.

  • John Faddis is going to be at our next jazz festival and he's going to have a clinic in there.

    I love the scalewise motion.

  • god youre so ignorant. Post yourelf playing beacause ummmm.. if ANYBODY can play that then i think YOU are included in that right? So post a video please of playing like faddis, oh wait a second you cant beacause youre not godly like he his, so dont say anybody can play it. twit..

  • Nolahms, you need to die. you dont even know who you are talking about..... thats the FADDISPHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • just listen man, hes got some crazy stuff in those solos

  • @ObIWaNCaNoLi

    just be quite

  • Comme ça fait un grand bien de mettre une image sur cet ovni du jazz qui a bercé ta vie de post-adolescent!!!

  • jon faddis is coming to be a clinician for my school and i sure hope he plays like this :)

  • Lol Jazzfreak this was awesome...If you think this is bullshit I'd like to see you post a better video

  • glei mal trompete üben

  • He isn't human, a man couldn't play that fast!

  • umm arturo sandoval, maynard ferguson r.i.p and bill chase. There you go buddy

  • of course is cool man, its jazz

  • he was kidding just relax

  • holy christ this guy is a beast! how did i not know about him??

  • the bottom finger is for korjek

  • Diz at 0:41. Awesome!

  • agree!

  • jon faddis is a monster with a trumpet in his hands...

  • just cause you dont know about him doesnt mean you dont play trumpet man.

  • korjek, bugger off before faddis shoves his horn so far up your arse your tongue will be gold plated. He's known for being a spectacular range and high note player, if you don't know that then you don't play trumpet...

  • shut up man you wish you could play 5 percent as good as he does.... Dont hate!!

  • lol lord knows i do

  • He has good tone in the high register and it is amazing to even be able to play a tune in that high a register. Most players can't even get a long tone of it.

  • Great solo

  • AHHHH. i love this music.

    go jon.

    xo

  • dis is kool cuz i got to meet him today at columbia collge wow hes amazing

  • yeah hes kool...i met him too today...at columbia college..

  • Hey look guys you play for the people - If Im doing a lounge gig I dont scream but this kind of playing requires it all - my hats off to john ----rocket montreal

  • J'adore Faddis

  • Hahahahahaha, Diz at 0:41. Awesome!

  • Point of fact, jon played a double C, when Diz shook his head in disbelief, not a D..

Jon plays his high C and Double C with first valve. He says it slots better for him.

  • Shouldn't play in upper register so much? Someone learned a different jazz than I know of.

  • i agree with you...saying that someone shouldn't play in the high register so much is like telling freddie hubbard and sean jones not to do so many runs and trills..or telling brownie not to tongue nearly everything in his solos...thats just his style...don' t knock it because you can't do it

  • i agree with you a hundred percent he is one of my favorites!!

  • Faddis not a "serious" jazz player? I can see someone saying they didn't like it when he played in the upper register so much but to say not a serious jazz player? Maybe that was from one of the people who can't play as good as him which would include just about everyone. Thats like saying Art Tatum should have tried a different instrument. Get serious.

  • Faddis can flat out play hi-low..

  • The title , by the way, is Oop-pop-a-da

  • faddis solo sounds like Haute Mon from verve album with rollins and stitt. at least he quotes part of dizzys solo from it

  • Jon Faddis is so underrated. He is a true master..and can not be touched in the upper registers. Such control.

  • i wouldn't really say hes underrated......I mean, he is known the world over.

  • Show off! (lol)

  • dizzy is without a doubt one of the most influencial players ever...I mean he reproduced players like Arturo and Faddis..helped out Freddie...and many others...but credit for all those players are enough if you ask me lol

  • Check out Dizzy giving up himself when Jon play a great Dubba D!! Jon Faddis is the best!

  • Jon's solo would give a lot of trumpet players nosebleeds. Such control in the upper registers!
