Hair looking great. Are you going to the Afro Hair & Beauty Show in Islington? I haven't been in years and I'm actually thinking of going this year. They should have a section relating to natural hair and also innovative styles for other hair types.
@JackyHapy Hey hun, I actually don't know about that! I'm actually too busy with my studies right now to go there but do let me know what its like! =]
Really love your hair! It is coming along so nicely. You mentioned not using Giovanni's shampoo anymore? Are you still using Giovanni Smooth as Silk Conditioner? And what are you using for shampoo now?
@kaybee456 yes I love all the giovanni shampoo's apart from the spray in leave in conditioner. The shampoos ok but I can't use it all the time because it dries my hair out! I still use the shampoo though!
Lie why don't you try blending avacodo (the ones u'll get in Asda, Tesco..etc), coconut milk, olive oil and another oil ( I use aloe vera or shea oil) and use in your hair after wash place plastic cap on for a minimum of 30 mins, I usallykeep mines overnight....its an excellent dc & I've been transitioning 7 months now
Hey missy your hair is looking really fabulous! I am glad you have found a good dc. I feel i have stumbled upon one of my own staple dc and it isn't a brand i see a lot. Isn't it great weather we have been having :) had to change up my routine too and a trim always makes my hair feels fab esp when i it tangles like crazy and ends feel rough all the time. I notice i need a trim every 3 months it seems. Tht Black Giovanni lol!
@TheNaprika thanks hun good to hear from you :) It's been fantastic I'm so happy with it! Yes I may be in need of a lil trim, it comes when you have your hair out I think! lol at the end, you have to be all PC online and stuff lol
Have you tried the Curls Hair Ecstasy Deep Conditioner? My hair seems to really like this it and my hair seems similar to yours although where I live the weather is quite the opposite of London.
@naturalNurgee Thanks hun!! it's mainly 4 I'd say as it's very thick! the middle of my hair may possibly be one of the 3's as its looser lol. I hope that you find some things that work for you! :)
Stunning babe....ur hair has grown so much! CR0 hairshops must be gettin bare business, with all us chicks on our hair journeys....gosh! Found a few CR0 ladies on here now! lol
Lei, your hair looks really nice and healthy....it is coming along. I hear you about maintaining moisture....I have the same problem and I guess it is all trial and error. If I may suggest try Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream.....it really does work amazingly to moisturize the hair.
You know I trimmed my ends and the dry feeling went away. The products in my arsenal continue to work. I just needed to get rid of those ends. My hair has never felt better!
Hey Lei, have you tried using organics root stimulator replenishing conditioner? I've been using that about two years now and haven't looked back since! lol. I mix mine with a little coconut oil and deep condition for at least an hour. Works every time! x
@mzcellaneous OMG! It is my favorite conditioner as well! The best thing is that a bottle only cost around $6! I often add it to conditioners that don't have enough slip or enough oil.
@mzcellaneous I havent used that for the longest time! I used to use it when my hair was texturised, havent really used it since, maybe I could give it another try? :)
Hey Leilei, your curls..love it!!! Maybe you can try Anita Grants Rassoul dc ,or just the Rassoul clay mixt with coconut milk that works wonders on my hair!! x
I'm thinking about trying the caramel treatment as a deep conditioner, I've heard good things about it and you can find the recipe here on youtube. its suppose to be very moisturing
wow Leilei, i am loving your hair here, it is fab!!! i didn't care much for the bee mine DC either, my hair didn't feel soft afterwards, felt kind of pouffy and dry. awweeee, i love the AO honey suckle rose and GPB, i am always repurchasing those! gosh your hair is so long, almost same length as mine and i am a good 7 months ahead of you! always want to try that JessiCurl DC, always hesitate though. Try Crown Pride Naturals Tucuma Hair Mask, i promise you will love it, and their avocado detan-
@louloumatou (2) - gling conditioner is my number one right now, i am thinking about getting the 32oz tub, i also use it as a DC and it has so much slip!! well, next time you feel like spending on your hair, do give them a try, i think you will like them. Have a great week! xx
i wonder if it's because of the hard water we have in the UK why some of these products don't work as well for us , i know exactly what you mean when washing out these conditioners
Adding heat can only dry out already dry hair. also watch your sulfates and silcone agents. These can also be drying. 5. Deep Condition like your hair life depends on it. 6. My two favorite youtubers for hair is Kimmaytube and Naptural85. Kim has had the same consistent no nonsense regimen for 2 years and her healthy hair and hair growth is a testament to her discipline. Nap is all natural girl. Her recepies for deep cond. and homemade flax seed hair gel, are bar none the best.
@mediamamachick the shampoo I use is Giovanni which is sulfate free. I'll only use a sulfate shampoo if I completely run out which was more of a problem in the colder months! Ill check out that recepiem thanks for that!
Lei.. thumbs up on the hair. Um.. just a bit of advice though. 1..afro kinky hair is always dry. 2..there are varying degrees of dry and "my hair is like straw" 3..you can't and won't know this leap frogging form one product to the next. Something works and you like it. STICK WITH IT. 4. Follow those on youtube who have consistent regimen, hair growth and hair that doesn't look busted. 4. blowdry and use heat AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. I'm adding this tid bit because u stated your hair feels dry.
@mediamamachick I have been using the same products for months and my hair has felt fine. It has become progressively drier at the ends, I rarely use heat on my hair, less then once a month! The last time the ends of my hair felt like this I trimmed them and it was fine. I wondered if a deep conditioner would change things this time around though soon as I don't have split ends, would be a shame to cut my hair if I dont need to!
LEI!!! what have you done to your hair?? YOUR....HAIR....IS .....BANGING!! O! M! G! your hair looks marvelous ...is that a twist out? braid out? wash and go? details and tutorial please ~~ your adoring subbies (meaning my nosy ass!) have got to know
@MISSDEEDEVINE1 thanks hun! it's a braid out and to think that I wasnt 100 per cent impressed because of the frizz! I'll show you what I did thanks for request LOL :)
I think that's what its called..it's wheat something) and it is actually a type of protein (so I've heard..might want to research that). Try being protein free for a month and see if it makes a difference in the dryness.
Loving your hair, simply beautiful!! With your conditioners that you reviewed today, check your ingredients and see if there is any protein in them. There might be a chance that you could be protein sensitive. Like the Giovanni smooth as silk has protein but the 50/50 does not. Also some of the bee mine products have it as well. With the Aubrey organics, it has wheat germ oil (
@NaturallyIzzy no only as a leave in, I used to experiment with diff kinds of oils when I first went natural but I wouldn't mind trying to make a new conditioner. If you have any suggestions please let me know :)
Put together in a medium bowl and squish together with your hands until it's a minty green color. Smooth into hair all the way to the tips. Put on a shower cap or wrap your head in a towel. Leave on for 20 minutes. For deeper conditioning put a hot, damp towel around your head.
@1ballerina thank you! I'm finally beginning to experience some of the drop that you were talking about do it's creating more of a shape now rather then sticking out so I'm happy :)
@LeiLei08 Yes it is getting heavier. It will continue to drop and you will think your curls are changing, but it is just that the curls are getting longer and heavier and they start to look and act different as a result. All the lengths and stages of curly hair are wonderful!
@1ballerina yes I am beginning to notice a difference in my curls even when I wash my hair and there is no product in it. I am definately enjoying the results much more now though, I know I'll enjoy it much more in future!
You reviewed all the conditioners I was debating! Thank you!

Not sold in the U.S. anymore so I went on ebay and ordered
some from...guess where???...The U.K...If it's in stores there get it.
If not you can order it from ebay.....Try it....it's not expensive(only 5 or 6 dollars)....it does not disappoint....
