um ... doesn't really look the part as far as traditional shishi odoshi - all that shiny aluminium an all, but tis certainly a nice modern take :)

there is little point in having it, because making it metal subtracts from the atmosphere that i would have given. Not to mention the sound it makes

Agreed. The sound of wood is much more soothing - the metal "clink" is just plain harsh and grating.
