"man became his god, and man became his devil" - are you kiddin me? whew. this thematic and conceptual crescendo brings me to my foundations everytime... Man is woman, woman is man Even your brain is not your brain Your heart is a plastic thing And can be bought There're no more businesses can be court... Man became the thing, that he wash up man Every gone is god, that was the day That man and woman truly became bored Man became his eagle, man became his evil best lyrics ever
There will never be a singer quite like Nina Simone. No other singer poured so much heart, soul & passion into a song. This song is quite unlike anything I've heard in a while. I miss her!

My Mom has her CD and she ALWAYS has it in her car, so I would always skip to the last track and play this song because it is soo moving! Cold chills always.
This is certainly amazing.

Heard Justin Bond cover this in New York two years ago. Can't beat Nina's version but Justin did it great justice. Amazing song!

@seeldee Justin Bond is fantastic and does this brilliantly. Very different to Nina but brilliant.

This is a terrifying work.
I do wish the momentum didn't fizzle at the end, but nevertheless, this is still one of my absolute favorite songs.

One of my favorites from Nina! Sounds like she is channeling these lyrics... Powerful! Revolutionary!

She is channeling the lyrics of Exuma. This is a great cover, but the original version by Exuma is very heavy and gives you such an intense feeling.

@LucyFerocious Yes, I have the Exuma version now. Hard to tell which is better. Both are astounding.
