really what similarities do the games actually have? different field dimensions, different numbers of players in a team, different scoring, no tackles in GAA, tackles in AFL, no marking in GAA; Marks in AFL. The balls are different (hence the obvious rugby influence) Different times for duration of a game. If you look closely the games have fuck all in common. The only thing is the handpass. AFL is the oldest registered code of football in the world. AFL was a registered sport before GAA.

It was a registered sport before it but Gaelic football is a much older sport, don`t be fooling yourself! The AFL might not admit it`s ties to Gaelic football but the ties are very close. You have to bounce the ball in both after a certain number of steps. THERE IS A TACKLE IN GAELIC FOOTBALL also. In rugby the ball is passed backwards. Gaelic Football started with an oval ball but changed to the round ball as it brings a much higher level of skill to the game!

I also luv the GAA and m going to Ireland this year to represent australia in the U16's Hybrid Series. Gaelic football is the second most briliant game in existance and requires just as much skill as AFL, just the skill is put to difrent use.
