this is very strange but it's also haunting and unique. she has definitely put her own spin on this and I like it actually. she's a very talented lady with a great energy.

Love Bat for Lashes, but Tori does this one better, is she trying to be Tori? She should stop if so, that would be a shame, she should be herself, and there is only one Tori!!!
lots of people do lots of covers of songs, but that doesn't mean they're trying to 'be' someone else. they all put their own spin on it (or at least try to).
this cover sounds NOTHING like the tori amos cover..
this is an absolutely beautiful cover. just listen to every melody and note that she delivers it send shivers down your spine. why can't people appreciate this haunting beauty
I heard this song on Buzz Jr. last night on my way home and her voice really enhances these lyrics that Bruce delivers oh so well, but she turned it up a knotch! I like a lot! I hope to hear more of them down here in South Florida
This is so amaing, saw it half way thru on a TV show, didn't know who the band were or anything, searched for ages to find it, totally brilliant version of a fantastic song, actually better than the original.
I would agree actually, I have Bruce's version and this one. I first heard this version about a year ago when I was driving home from my ex-girlfriends. This version is such a beautiful song. her voice is cutting and the melody is haunting and chilling. I was almost mezmerized. With all due respect to Bruce for coming up with this song originally, but this cover is something different, it's special, and it's better.
No disrespect to Bruce, he's great and his half time show at the superbowl was awesome, but very rarely (and I'm not often a fan of covers) someone comes along and improves on an original. My opinion is that this is one of those songs, and it's fine if you don't agree, but lets not turn it into an argument, just enjoy the music which ever version you prefer.
This is one of those rare covers that stand out so much from the original that you (or I at least) don't bother comparing it to the original. This is classic and if I'd written this song I'd be damn proud to hear this version.
It really does say "soul" in the lyrics for this song in the CD booklet with Springsteen's "Born in the USA". It also says "soul" in the lyrics on Springsteen's official website (so you can check that very easily). I guess he just pronounces it in a slightly ambivalent way.
Musically really good, cool interpretation...but I gotta say, the lyrics creep me out with the genders reversed. I thought the line "hey little girl is your daddy home?" was a little weird to begin, but it's even stranger this way.
Also why change it from "skull" to "soul?" I've seen it written that way before but that's definitely not the lyric. Oh well!
Why do people nitpick? A wonderful voice- amazing musicianship and a sound that songwriters like myself crave for. The song itself is one of my fave Bruce songs and I love this version. They've done something different. And she's singing it with so much conviction and passion, almost as if the song has become her. As for comparisons to whoever, every musician is bound to sound like someone else, nobody 'invents' anything, they just build on their influences :-)
People who are comparing Bat For Lashes to Cat Power and claiming England "does not produce" - perhaps, instead of listening to a cover which is bound to be generic in some way because of the very fact that it is a COVER, you should listen to some of Natasha's original material. And stop relying on comparisons to one of the few internationally recognised female indie stars you've mustered up.
I don't know where you're from jun7per, but the majority of fresh and credible new music comes from Britain. I've never heard anything quite like Bat For Lashes, so you're clearly talking out your arse! Knob.
this is the way covers are supposed to sound like....completely different and fresh! natasha did a fab job because i never liked this song....but it sounds much more magical.
After reading some of the comments it just goes to show that even simple songs about wanting to horn the old lady by old rockers like Brucie can be reconstructed as avant garde when sung by an exotic and very pretty young lady like Natasha.
Wow I can feel the energy given of by all those guys right hands going furiously up and down as they centre their chakras thinking about her at night ;)
God we dont need anymore Cat Power sounding bands. These English girlies look and sound like idiots. The music industry is so desperate. Theres just nothing new or good being produced. Tragic mess!
ha ha ha ha ha thanks that was the funniest thing ive heard all week. p.s i'm being sarcastic. They've got amazing talent regardless of whether they sound similar to some other bands!

The song I'm on Fire by Bruce Springsteen has nothing to do with the Johnny Cash song.'Ring of Fire'.

This is probably the best cover of 'I'm on fire' i've ever heard... nice flair on a classic.
Plenty of harmony, not unlike the original.. yet contains a unique quality that I'm unable to define.
It seems a bit more sad than Springsteen's version.
And I'm really glad this is a live performance. I don't like listening to studio recorded covers... I'm picky.
Without the howling.. it lost a lot of the ethereal feel of the original.. that I absolutely crave!
