  • This is just superb. well done

  • it's called I'm On Fire.

  • Very special cover. Totally different from Bruce Springsteen's own special song.

  • The song I'm on Fire by Bruce Springsteen has nothing to do with the Johnny Cash song.'Ring of Fire'.

  • this is very strange but it's also haunting and unique. she has definitely put her own spin on this and I like it actually. she's a very talented lady with a great energy.

  • it's called i'm on fire, from the born in the usa album. it's not a johnny cash song.

  • You're right, Cash just did a cover.

  • I think this is originally a Johnny Cash song.

  • No,

It`s Springsteen`s I`m On Fire from Born In The USA

  • No, it is a Bruce Springsteen song originally!

  • lots of people do lots of covers of songs, but that doesn't mean they're trying to 'be' someone else. they all put their own spin on it (or at least try to).

this cover sounds NOTHING like the tori amos cover..

  • it dosen't sound like it no, its just a peculiar choice for a song thats all

  • I hate the Tori version

  • what's the name of this song? and where can i find a download?

  • I'm on fire . it's from born in the usa

  • She does the most amazing covers.

  • u cannot beat the boss so there's no point in tryin!

  • This woman is aching with desire. I think she's actually crying at the end - I'm in love...

    Thanks for this priceless post!

  • the song's "i'm on fire"

  • this is an absolutely beautiful cover. just listen to every melody and note that she delivers it send shivers down your spine. why can't people appreciate this haunting beauty

  • i love it when someone covers a song and turns it into something unique and amazing. jose gonzalez did it with teardrop...

    so mesmerizing

  • the recording quality isnt great, but i like this one

i've heard the one on the album (its a bonus track) and it sounds soo much better

  • I love this version.

  • it's insane how good this is

  • "i'm on fire"

  • I heard this song on Buzz Jr. last night on my way home and her voice really enhances these lyrics that Bruce delivers oh so well, but she turned it up a knotch! I like a lot! I hope to hear more of them down here in South Florida

  • it's "im on fire".

  • favourite bat for lashes song.

  • this was great sweet.

  • awesome video i dig it

  • thanks for posting this!

  • haha , this is i'm on fire, of course !!

  • This is so amaing, saw it half way thru on a TV show, didn't know who the band were or anything, searched for ages to find it, totally brilliant version of a fantastic song, actually better than the original.

  • better than the original? i respect your opinion but............ really?

  • I would agree actually, I have Bruce's version and this one. I first heard this version about a year ago when I was driving home from my ex-girlfriends. This version is such a beautiful song. her voice is cutting and the melody is haunting and chilling. I was almost mezmerized. With all due respect to Bruce for coming up with this song originally, but this cover is something different, it's special, and it's better.

  • No disrespect to Bruce, he's great and his half time show at the superbowl was awesome, but very rarely (and I'm not often a fan of covers) someone comes along and improves on an original. My opinion is that this is one of those songs, and it's fine if you don't agree, but lets not turn it into an argument, just enjoy the music which ever version you prefer.

  • This is one of those rare covers that stand out so much from the original that you (or I at least) don't bother comparing it to the original. This is classic and if I'd written this song I'd be damn proud to hear this version.

  • I'd be proud to write a song thought worth covering period! haha.. the song IS haunting to begin with.. a little manic but haunted. Nice job!

  • so beautiful

  • Her voice is amazing; so haunting and beautiful! Love her!

  • so what she's changed a few words about? i think it's a great cover.

  • I'M ON FIRE, weird version.

  • lolz

  • dammit it's "Skull" not "soul"

  • It really does say "soul" in the lyrics for this song in the CD booklet with Springsteen's "Born in the USA". It also says "soul" in the lyrics on Springsteen's official website (so you can check that very easily). I guess he just pronounces it in a slightly ambivalent way.

  • It's "I'm on fire" by Springsteen

  • Musically really good, cool interpretation...but I gotta say, the lyrics creep me out with the genders reversed. I thought the line "hey little girl is your daddy home?" was a little weird to begin, but it's even stranger this way.

Also why change it from "skull" to "soul?" I've seen it written that way before but that's definitely not the lyric. Oh well!

  • tori amos covers this song really well

  • Please, songwriters across the globe - no more songs rhyming fire with desire.. and singers - no more singing fi yur and desi yur... PLEASe

  • what other songs rhyme fire with desire x.X And "fi yur" is how some people say fire, its an accent, you're saying that accent is wrong?

  • walker is right.

  • Why do people nitpick? A wonderful voice- amazing musicianship and a sound that songwriters like myself crave for. The song itself is one of my fave Bruce songs and I love this version. They've done something different. And she's singing it with so much conviction and passion, almost as if the song has become her. As for comparisons to whoever, every musician is bound to sound like someone else, nobody 'invents' anything, they just build on their influences :-)

  • "Er, no idea what the cover was. Any ideas?"

    I'M ON FIRE!

it was a top ten in the charts

fer cryin' out loud and this version for an amatuer is pretty awesome

  • Don't like it, prefer Springsteen.

  • amazing cover took the song and brought it into a different genre of music 5 stars!! ;D

  • very nice.... her voice is beautiful... cat powers is a gem too!

  • this is incredibly sexy...

  • I think 'Sad Eyes' sounds quite like Cat Power. And I have almost all Cat Power's albums.

  • This is probably the best cover of 'I'm on fire' i've ever heard... nice flair on a classic.

Plenty of harmony, not unlike the original.. yet contains a unique quality that I'm unable to define.

It seems a bit more sad than Springsteen's version.

And I'm really glad this is a live performance. I don't like listening to studio recorded covers... I'm picky.

Without the howling.. it lost a lot of the ethereal feel of the original.. that I absolutely crave!

  • People who are comparing Bat For Lashes to Cat Power and claiming England "does not produce" - perhaps, instead of listening to a cover which is bound to be generic in some way because of the very fact that it is a COVER, you should listen to some of Natasha's original material. And stop relying on comparisons to one of the few internationally recognised female indie stars you've mustered up.

  • You are an ass...sensitive much?

  • I don't know where you're from jun7per, but the majority of fresh and credible new music comes from Britain. I've never heard anything quite like Bat For Lashes, so you're clearly talking out your arse! Knob.

  • this is the way covers are supposed to sound like....completely different and fresh! natasha did a fab job because i never liked this song....but it sounds much more magical.

  • Natasha Khan's voice is so lovely that even an artsy-fartsy Bruce Springsteen cover, which should be a disaster, turns out nicely.

  • After reading some of the comments it just goes to show that even simple songs about wanting to horn the old lady by old rockers like Brucie can be reconstructed as avant garde when sung by an exotic and very pretty young lady like Natasha.

Wow I can feel the energy given of by all those guys right hands going furiously up and down as they centre their chakras thinking about her at night ;)

Good luck to you Natasha you are gorgeous

  • God we dont need anymore Cat Power sounding bands. These English girlies look and sound like idiots. The music industry is so desperate. Theres just nothing new or good being produced. Tragic mess!

  • its good to have opinions!

  • Merci, danke, gracias, thank you. Now Im off to listen to Nico...Adios

  • It's not always so good to spam them in places they're not appreciated.

  • she doesnt really sound like Cat Power really, maybe cocorosie or kate bush but thats pretty much it.

  • ha ha ha ha ha thanks that was the funniest thing ive heard all week. p.s i'm being sarcastic. They've got amazing talent regardless of whether they sound similar to some other bands!

  • Yep, "I'm on Fire", she played it in Amsterdam aswell. Thanks for sharing the video!

  • That would be we had NO idea what it was. Cheers for that!

  • it was im on fire by bruce springsteen.
