  • This is one of my favorite shows

  • love mellancamps songs and talent, but he comes off ignorant here in my opinion. Very egocentric. I liked when he towed the line between the beauty and plight of America like "small town" but this message is just insulting to his peers. But that's just what I believe. His style is actually one of my big songwriting inspirations!

  • The only ignorant one here is you..Mellencamp speaks out against injustice, illegal war and Occupation and country that is morally bankrupt.

He laments the time America was good and actually stood for something other than death and taxes.

  • He has a HUGE head. John Mellonhead.

  • @griefcomics you retard,please get a fucking life!!!

  • @juanannico Be quiet, child.

  • Did JC ever do any acoustic albums, like, just him and his guitar?

  • Hi i am a guy from scotland and think JC is a brilliant song writer when he sings his songs you feel he is singing about our country and our beliefs too i have all his cd's,he does an album called ROUGH HARVEST and puts the songs on this album over differently from the original album songs like "Rain on the scarcrow" from SCARECROW excellent cd he also sings a version of Under the broadwalk give it a listen.

  • That's what I am trying to figure out. I like hearing John sing with just his guitar. He really is an amazing singer and songwriter and musician.

  • Amen! The Illuminati TV Jesus! God forbid I spend more than 6 hours out of my life to study and come up with the Jesus of history. That would be such a downer from my my parents substitute for Cocaine after the 80's!

  • john speaking the truth!

  • CharlieRose - could you please post the full-length interview?

    Thanks.

  • no shit. Just when I was getting into it....####.

  • This is about Americans, but right now America is expressing its' shadow (in the Jungian sense) big time.

  • What a colossal lib idiot.

  • Sometimes the truth hurts.

  • Cogent well-thought out argument Justice, you must be a lawyer. You have added much to the discussion.

  • Sorry, but there really isn't anything to discuss. My statement was brief, to-the-point, and absolutely correct.

  • yea, clueless cuz he doesn't put blind faith into everything he hears on the neo-conservative owned media or in church >:o

  • You're absolutely right. If he put his faith into those things, he wouldn't be such a mentally-ill nutjob. After all, liberalism is a mental disorder.

  • Amen! The Illuminati TV Jesus! God forbid I spend more than 6 hours out of my life to study and come up with the Jesus of history. That would be such a downer from my parents substitute for Cocaine after the 80's! It's so much easier to let someone else do my thinking!

  • Justice-

seems to me you have much to learn. If you think LC is clueless regarding what he's saying in this clip, you are the one who is clueless.

  • Perhaps you can give me a few gems of wisdom when your next McDonald's smoke break comes around.

  • I don't take smoke breaks at McDonald's, thank you very much, as I am a PhD-holding scientist entrusted with overseeing most likely more money in one year than you will see in 20. Since you seem so liberal in casting accusations as to my livelihood over the ether, you must be a liberal yourself. Think before you type next time. You don't know me from Adam, yet you are apparently convinced where I am employed. Where I work, the building has more than four and less than six sides.

  • If I believed you, I would be very impressed. This aside, I thought I asked for some pearls of wisdom; your last post failed to provide any.

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • FUCK Y'ALL !YEEHA!!

  • Brilliant. He sees things as they are. More American dummies should listen to their compatriot.

Listen to "To washington" and his last 3 albums of the 90s.

  • You know, they have medication for that.........

  • John is AWESOME!!!

  • Let me butt in on the comments plz :) Back in the day, musicians did most of their business by word of mouth, they had one manager, and their concerts were what sold their albums. But times changed, and things are different. John came out of that time. He's done so many things and only broke even. I know this, because he visited our 'Small Town' of Chillicothe, OH when we petitioned him. This was before farm aid, during his paper & fire days. Loved that concert- OUC !!!

  • cynical, superficial, yet deeply spiritual, somewhat faecetious but finally fatal...ain't that america?

  • I don't know what he is trying to get to exactly with the song but what I get from it is that when you try to identify yourself with something that it can be superficial. I think the way America got to how it's gotten is by people disagreeing and acting on what they believe in instead of fitting in a fix type of mold.

  • I am an american and John mellencamp is a real american hero

  • somebody bitch slap that fool.

  • y u mad?

  • John Cougar is one of the biggest whore sellouts ever!!!! Fucking car commercial and America, perfect John. I advocate burning every last one of his records/cds/bs.

  • Really? You'd leverage Farm Aid against one car commercial? Do you also miss The Who, Led Zeppelin, and a little band called The Beatles? We should be so lucky as JCM and to have retained his perspective. Artists own copyrights, not fans.

  • It's hardly "one car commercial." Yes, Farm Aid was/is awesome. But to tie your entire album release in with a fucking car commercial? Come on, that's just plan wrong for any "artist."

  • Know what? Judging others without knowing their heart or the facts of their situations is not only stupid but ignorant. do you want someone to judge you by what they SEE you doing, or do you want them to UNDERSTAND you? so SHUTUP!

  • Sounds like the same misplaced theme from a 30 year+ classic song by a Canadian Group called "THE GUESS WHO" called "AMERICAN WOMAN"...It had nothing to do with American Women, it was symbolic of the Statue of Liberty who represented American policy from a Canadian perspective....during the Vietnam War, Ghetto Scenes, etc
