  • This band had so much charisma. Maroon 5 aren't fit to empty Phil's spliff ashtray. Robbo by-the-way, too easily overlooked when it comes to naming to great British rock guitarists.

  • epic sound, i love robbos wah!

  • lizzy forever , Phil lynnot= GOD.

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman They both went and bought a deluxe each and a marshall each when they joined the band. Phil did not give Scott his deluxe

  • man thin lizzy is one of the greatest bands ever! but there just not the same with out phil. R.I.P. phil.

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman - Downey is probably the most criminally underrated musician in the band, and in terms of pure musicianship, the best player in the band...the guy has swing chops like no other rock drummer i've heard...even this song just SWINGS...like a 40's Benny Goodman tune...listen with your ears people.

and try to play this on drums ?..good luck. (and i'm a veteran guitarist saying this)...god what a talent.

  • Superb, this just goes to show what a great guitarist Brian was, unfortunately he has lost it a bit now though. I saw Lizzy on 7th January in Glasgow, obviously not the same without Phil, but great to see Brian Downey on drums again.

  • Thin lizzy best band ever!

  • In his prime Robbo was a truly great guitarist, this is one of the best versions of Emerald I have ever seen. Brilliant.

  • @ian436

The best video of lizzy It's just a pity that the sound is not so good.... maybe a sound engineer could fix that ?

Robbo and Scott Purely brillant !!!!!!!!!!!! and RIP Phil

  • unbelievable .....just unbelievable.....brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GORHAM REALLY HAD THE SHAPES.

  • How the hell does this have so few views when shit like gaga is in the millions...god the y generations is worse than my own gen Xers.

This song is sooo powerful! Shredding and pounding riffs. God what happened to good music!

  • First time I've ever seen Brian play a Les Paul Deluxe with the mini humbuckers. He always had full size PU's in everything else I've ever seen.

  • @SIXSTRING63 They both went and bought a deluxe each and a marshall each when they joined the band.

  • The baddest band in the land.

  • Yeah great stuff and Brain Robertson was I think 17 years old when this was recorded

  • This song is killer.

  • pure genius!

  • I am of a slightly younger generation, more into black metal and death metal. But I agree with some of the posters here, why isnt this band mentioned alot more in the history books of metal? This song was bloody awesome.

  • the album "Live and Dangerous"!!

  • Lizzy, a hugely under rated band capable of melodic, intelligent, hard rock and they were the soundtrack of my youth

  • *Simply*Outstanding* No Doubt .. What A *Killer*Hit* Song!! Always, Always, Always Remember seeing you guys play this Live in San Francisco, Calif. Hell yes!!

  • one of the best bands ever

  • Robbo really was the king of the wah wah. Sadly he's now only a shadow of his former self.

  • i need a time machine

  • Will this still sound good in 50 yrs,dam right it will

  • U who? This, my friends, is the best band that ever came out of te "Emerald Isle!" Don't take my word for it, though, feel free to carry out your own research...:)

When you see Slash playing you know where are his 2 major influences...

  • This is from the TV special "Rod Stewart: A Night On The Town" from around 79 or 80. Long John Baldry was also a guest.

  • amazing this live version is as good as the recording if not better.

  • Irish rock at its very best, there is no band EVER could get a crowd moving like Lizzy, Phil has gone to play with the gods, keepherlit, makes ye proud to be Irish, did someone mention changing the national anthem ?

  • Amazing. I only got to see them live once and that was during the "Black Rose" tour-they were opening for Nazareth (but should have been headlining). Thanks for posting this.

  • Rosalie was originally written by bob seager Lizzy covered it.

  • Excellent. Where the bloody hell did you get this from? I take my hat off Sir. Thanks for the upload

  • Best version of this song I've ever heard...

  • You gotta hear the other songs from this gig:Jailbreak; Rosalie...Killer SHIT!!!!!

  • Well you should follow your gut instinct more often then!

  • I have no idea what that has to do with what I said but thanks!

  • For Whom the Bell Tolls must have been inspired by this song.

  • I never knew Hemingway was a fan!

  • funny :)

  • they could really get a roll on in there songs if ya know what i mean..as a thirteen year old i had a ball drinking and rockin most weekends with lizzy at the helm.

PHIL ES EL JEFE DEL ROCK AND ROLL Y UN GÉNIO DE LA MÚSICA. pHIL ES DIOS Y THIN LIZZY MI RELIGIÓN

    SALUDOS DESDE ESPAÑA

  • hell yeah this freakin great such a classic

  • this is by far the greatest Emerald video of Thin Lizzy. The sound is unreal

  • SCOTT GORHAM HAD GREAT HAIR

  • Thin Lizzy,The ultimate inspiration of Rock!Bands such as Maiden(Harris) and Metallica(cliff) had mentioned that Lizzy was their main influence.LIZZY RULES!!!

  • I've never seen this before, this is great. The guitars sound massive.

  • The twin guitar is awsome on this song.

  • I can't stess it enough FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

  • Frigging awesome R.I.P Phill lynott!

  • This is the best Thin Lizzy song recorded. Period. Enough said.

  • Brian was the king of the wah wah...shame he isn't anymore

  • FUCK YEAH!!!! Thanx GdegGdeg!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the Jailbreak vid, Had no idea this song was played as well!!!! THANX!!!!

  • Phew! You can keep all your guitar shedders & million notes a second merchants etc. This is solo work you can remember and stays with you and triggers the adrenalin flow like only these guys knew how. Lizzy-we salute you. You deserved far more recognition than you got, but for those of us that are in the know, it doesn't matter. The best.

  • man this takes your fucking breath away...

I'd say it's recorded just b4 Live & Dangerous. Lynott's off-beat bass stuff right near the end of the solo has not quite developed yet.

What an amazing band they were. Agreed abt Downey too - he was a major part of their success IMO. They were often great (esp with Moore), but this lineup had a cohesiveness the others lacked. So lucky it was captured on L&D.

    Steve

  • Genial and robbo's solo is awesome.

  • one word....brillant

  • best and most underated band of all time!!!!!!!!! rip phill lynott!!!!

  • God heavens! The weaving between 2 and 3:20minutes is one of the most striking moments in rock history ever experienced!!! Gorham is bad-ass, but for me Robbo wins the race this time. You dont want to hear anything else after this!

  • I used to have a Lizzy poster on my wall.. I'm fairly certain it was from this tv show.... what a band.

  • I don't think I've heard a tv performance be so loud!

There's another clip from this show - Lizzy doing Jailbreak - and I think it's the best I've ever heard them do it.

The Lizzy folk really should release a dvd of their live tv performances. They also did Don't Believe a Word and Bad Reputation on the Midnight Special TV show.

  • that singer is genious

  • sorry, i meant to do a thumbs up---dyslexia gone mad, somebody do thumbs up!

  • have now nullified wrong thumb

  • THE GREATEST BAND EVER

  • agree

  • Awesome, brilliant, classic, sheer genius...I could go on forever...

  • Awesome! A TV appearance where they aren't lip-synching...not to slag on them...Lizzy kicks ass, and Emerald fuckin' owns.

  • holy wow

  • scott gorham rocks!

  • wh\at year was this

  • Absolutely the four baddest m f'ers ever!

  • is there any more to this if there is please post ! ! !

  • Awesome song, awesome performance, especially from Brian. One of his best solos.
