I am really appreciated with the writer, Mrs Bopha, who has such modern idea to create this film. In the future, I would like to see more such type of invention and next time I wish to see a story of boy love boy. In my opinion, I do not think thai film has any special that we khmer should learn from. We'd better look further than stupid Siam or Thai, but Hong Kong or Korean that should khmer learn from.

Well, gay pride parades are just something they want to showcase to the public. It's because there isn't enough awareness of their community. Basically, to many Khmers (esp older Khmers), they have a very negative view of homosexuals. One of the ways to educate or make aware of this issue is to do a parade. Why not? They have a right to do it. Some folks are just more "out there" than others, but I see no harm in it. They are happy (and gay). lol. I'm glad it was a success for them.
By the way, awareness of the GLBT community, I meant that there are a lot of gays/lesbians but some Khmers deny that there aren't any Khmers that are "like that," which is obviously not true. Even people in the really isolated, rural areas of Cambodia have gays/lesbians. The difference between the urban gays and rural gays is that rural gays don't (and won't) speak about it openly. Oh and you'd be surprised on how many gays/lesbians are famous figures in Cambodia, but they're "closeted."
TRUST ME they do understand more than anyone God's logic of male and female.
For gays and lesbians, it just does not feel natural to be in a heterosexual relationship. It's not fair to either person in the relationship if one person who is homosexual has to lie about it. Actually, this movie was successful in all of Cambodia for your information. If anything, this "kind" of movie might just introduce other modernity in cinema such as more creativity and better production.
Cambodia isn't as "high-tech" as other countries. However, their films are getting better with time. Besides the cinematograpic issues, the storyline is interesting. Also, I think the actors/actresses did a good job.
it's just my idea for Ms. Poun Poungpoha. she is not good at all. most of movie are too bad. she should improve herself to produce the movie. she should learn more 'bout society. some of her movie are very clumsy and some a unacceptable. almost all the movie she'd produce, some people are very rich, but live in the old house and drive the old car. it's not suitable. please review all ur movie again!!
I don't think she's bad. She is very creative, in my opinion. She has a lot of courage to do topics that no one else would want to touch upon, so I commend on that. Regarding her other movies, I'm not too sure about; but at least she's open to talk about things that are taboo. It's very good because it creates dialogue between people and that's very important for every society. Everyone deeds to talk, listen, and learn.

As a people in society, being "productive," means doing good and working together with everyone to make society better and more tolerant of one another. Understand? I'd say Cambodians need to start to change their attitudes towards gays. If it weren't for gays, the men and women wouldn't look good in their movies and karaokes and all. That's 1 example (not implying that that's all they're good at). Also, Srok Khmae is backwards. Change may be slow, but it's quite necessary.

the jealousy issue is very representative of Cambodian society for both gay/lesbians and straight people in Cambodia. Jealousy among lovers and people who have more than others, or among husbands and wives are very real in Cambodian society So I think this film looks at that reality also among gay/lesbian people.

Well, gay pride parades are just something they want to showcase to the public. It's because there isn't enough awareness of their community. Basically, to many Khmers (esp older Khmers), they have a very negative view of homosexuals. One of the ways to educate or make aware of this issue is to do a parade. Why not? They have a right to do it. Some folks are just more "out there" than others, but I see no harm in it. They are happy (and gay). lol. I'm glad it was a success for them.

By the way, awareness of the GLBT community, I meant that there are a lot of gays/lesbians but some Khmers deny that there aren't any Khmers that are "like that," which is obviously not true. Even people in the really isolated, rural areas of Cambodia have gays/lesbians. The difference between the urban gays and rural gays is that rural gays don't (and won't) speak about it openly. Oh and you'd be surprised on how many gays/lesbians are famous figures in Cambodia, but they're "closeted."

For gays and lesbians, it just does not feel natural to be in a heterosexual relationship. It's not fair to either person in the relationship if one person who is homosexual has to lie about it. It does not make Cambodia more or less of a country if a gay parade goes on. Nobody is hurting anybody but celebrating life. We are all human beings, it makes no sense to separate anyone.

Cambodia isn't as "high-tech" as other countries. However, their films are getting better with time. Besides the cinematograpic issues, the storyline is interesting. Also, I think the actors/actresses did a good job.

it's just my idea for Ms. Poun Poungpoha. she is not good at all. most of movie are too bad. she should improve herself to produce the movie. she should learn more 'bout society. some of her movie are very clumsy and some a unacceptable. almost all the movie she'd produce, some people are very rich, but live in the old house and drive the old car. it's not suitable. please review all ur movie again!!

I don't think she's bad. She is very creative, in my opinion. She has a lot of courage to do topics that no one else would want to touch upon, so I commend on that. Regarding her other movies, I'm not too sure about; but at least she's open to talk about things that are taboo. It's very good because it creates dialogue between people and that's very important for every society. Everyone deeds to talk, listen, and learn.

It won't be out too soon. Sorry. The film director/writer is holding out on that because she thinks the film would make more profit out of the two Khmer cinemas than releasing it on DVDs, at least for the time being. She's being smart. :)

I'd say Cambodians need to start to change their attitudes towards gays. If it weren't for gays, the men and women wouldn't look good in their movies and karaokes and all. That's 1 example (not implying that that's all they're good at). Also, Srok Khmae is backwards. Change may be slow, but it's quite necessary.

Right now, it's only being shown in Cambodian cinemas: Lux and Soriya. It's so successful that I think it's just being milked right now. Films, like she said in the interview, in Cambodia usually don't last a week in movie theaters. However, with WHO AM I?, it's still showcasing. It's been over two months, which is great!!! Unfortunately, you and the rest of us outsiders will have to wait for bit!!! Haha...

the jealousy issue is very representative of Cambodian society for both gay/lesbians and straight people in Cambodia. Jealousy among lovers and people who have more than others, or among husbands and wives are very real in Cambodian society So I think this film looks at that reality also among gay/lesbian people.
