I saw Ricardo Montalban years ago at the Tower Records on Sunset Blvd. He was driving a PRISTINE Chrysler Cordoba that must have been 20 years old at the time. He could still walk, but certainly his life long problems from the horse accident on the set of the 1951 film, Across the Wide Missouri, were getting to him as he was using a crutch. Wikipedia says he was paralyzed after surgery in 1993 to relieve the pain, but I swear I saw him after that still walking (with help).

I wonder what Ricardo was thinking at the time when he had to look at those ugly boxy pieces of shit and go along with the script describing those "graceful lines." His advertising persona was awesome, and people actually bought them....LOL.
I hate to admit it, but I only have ever driven "Asian Crap". I wish I could drive an American car. I wish they made something that wouldn't get recalled or Talk about built in obsolescence - Then read some of the comments previous in this string.
Today April 30 of 2009, Chrysler has gone into bankruptcy. Lets help Chrysler Corporation buying their cars instead of all that asian crap that is now running on our highways.
that asian crap has way better resale value than american cars, i wonder why...? o yeah, because the japanese know how to build cars that work, dumbass
That ONE reason i like Fifth Avenue. because it's luxury and NOT high tech. i can't drive the spaceships that today's cars are. give me good ol'e Chrysler engineering, a 318 V8 engine, and points ignition any day!
ya those old lean burn systems were horrible but i do love Chrysler's from the 1980s i have a 1988 dodge 600 2.2l turbo and a 1978 Plymouth horizon with the 1.7l VW motor the lean burn system on my 78 horizon surprisingly hasn't gone bad iam glad.... since from the factory they were either good for life or crap forever
My 79 Chrysler 300 has a Mopar Performance Distributor kit in it now, no lean burn...There might be an old one still bolted to the air cleaner, I have a Chrome one on it now...
the last car my late father owned was a new 1989 plymouth "K" car (my family still owns it). He bought it "loaded" for about $10,000. By that time the quality was getting much better on chrysler products. It was a real basic car but it was built pretty well.
I like the way he says Cadillac DeVille.

Anyone remember the nightmare of the lean-burn ignitions? lol
ga1999 2 years ago
Well ive seen two chryslers at cruise ins with the lean burn intact. But if it gets fussy you can just replace it with points.

I used to change ten Lean Burns a week when I worked at a Chrysler Dealer back in 1980....LOL...

Relss40 2 years ago
@Lumotaku yeah but they made it a cinch to downgrade from any old vehicle with a 318. either one is better than that lean burn garbage
