to all you who would like a auto cobble farm answer me this, wouldn't tnt be far more efficient? fill a row or two of tnt and set a time to push it via pistons and activate it over the repairing floor, set the timer long enough that the floor can repair and the blocks be flushed.

@BumRuler TNT is too expensive. It takes (on average) about 3 creepers plus sand to make one TNT (Plus it needs to be reset occasionally) while creepers are free and self-replacing.

to get animals into the cave you could build a shaft from the cave up to the surface and put a water breaker at the bottom to stop them taking fall damage and simply push the animals down

Etho! The wiki says blaze rods are a source of fuel for furnaces. They last 120 seconds (2 minutes), which is enough to heat 12 things from one rod. You should really get a blaze rod farm up and running. ;)

one cool lighting feature is something i call a lava box. they're kinda big but really simple and if you can find cool ways to use the they would look great. all you do is just make a 3x3 cube of glass, but replace the middle block with lava. it's awesome.

A way to get animals down there: They follow you blindly if you hold wheat. Lead them to the steep drop and put water at the bottom. Then it's fine because animals don't despawn in 1.9+ :D

@Etho, I challenge you to make a fully automatic AFK cobble item grinder. I think you could do it with a piston-driven cobble floor maker combined with a creeper mob trap. The creeper sees you through an obsidian viewport, blows the cobble floor it's standing on. Cobble items get collected and pushed up to you via water and pistons. The cobble floor regrows, a single new creeper is dispensed, it blows, and more cobble, etc. This requires redstone AND mob management skill.. your strong points!

@forgertheepic28 that's the challenge.. push the creeper close to start the countdown, then push him away with the right timing to make his boom harmless to you.

And you do need a creeper dispenser. The machine could flush misfires (unexploded creepers) away with the water stream it uses to collect the cobble items, using lava to passively grind them.

@fenderbend the creeper would have to be within 1.5 blocks to explode. which is also damage territory. even with the obsidian blocks, he'd take damage. so he wouldn't be afk if he wanted to live

@gameboysw, maybe the creeper could be dropped at 1 block away to start its countdown, then a piston-pushed cobble pushes it 3 meters away... close enough to explode after the countdown has begun, but not far enough away to stop the countdown. This requires experimentation and skill to design.. Etho can do it!

@ZeroZ30o yes in theory that would be true, but!!! you could also make it to where you find out EXACTLY how much time you need to get all of your health back up before it kills you via food bar being full, and if your not moving your food bar doesnt go down alot. very little actually :) hope i helped answer any questions

If a skeleton falls through when he is afk, the skeleton can shoot through the hole (unless there is glass there, but that would be destroyed by a creeper explosion) and kill him. It's a good idea, but it needs a little working on. ;D
