great job at replicating the tone! but i have a question that reallyu needs to be answerd because my guitar rig is really bad at the moment. what amp would you recomend running the vox tonelab through to get a near perfect sound?
@PuroMojo Excellent job. You're a hell of a guitar player. I' saw in this video you used the VOX Tonelab and in another you used a PoDXT pedal. Which one do you think sounds better in your opinion? I am looking for a good multi effects pedal and can't decide between the Vox, a Pod or a Boss ME pedal. Thanks again for the video and hell of a job!
@lordzaon I don't remember I rarely play with it. When you install its software you have the table with the settings like that, as I posted in the video. Try to take a look on yours and you'll figure out what is it. And please, let me know, lol
Espectacular!!! (Amazing!!!) You're right, the UK Metal CST tone suck... same thing happened to me finding the slash sound... I came to a similar result but less clear and more mids. You gave me a clue (I almost used the cab 10 for all).
I modified your sound a bit to find my own good distortion sound (I added more gain and less treble).
Hey, was thinking of getting tonelab st and was reading the manual and they have a slash amp, the uk metal custom. You must of tried it but I noticed you using the us higain custom. Whats the deal? The uk metal custom doesnt really sound like a slash amp? Cheers your pod slash tones sound really good!
@fishskulls76 uk metal custom sounds really good too and it has typical Slash sound, but not for AFD tone in my opinion, that's why I used this other high gain amp model on the search for this particular tone.
Hey PuroMojo, what a nice video 5stars for you and your awesome sound ! Just a little question, i will have the Vox Tonelab ST tomorrow maybe and i have a Fender Std US with a H&K statesman do you think i have something to change in your preset to have your sound, because you have a Lespaul it could sound different ...
I'd just like a suggestion, I've currently got a Roland Micro Cube RX and have been considering either getting a Marshall MG30FX or a Vox Tonelab ST. They both cost $299 at my local stores.
meh, personally i think slash is overrated but thats just me...his tone is really good, but i'd rather go after and try to find my own distinct tone than attempt to copy someone elses
hi I love the sound you got, I'm experimenting and looking for the sound on my computer but my guitar does not have the body of the les paul, I might suggest to compensate for this?
you serious? if I had the 160 euro's a Tonelab ST is worth I'd buy it without a doubt, but I'm not that rich right now, so I'm about to buy a Zoom G2something (a blue one, signed by some nasty guitarist, ritchie something), second hand, for 33 euro's
I just saw it, and, to be honest, the price seduced me, but not enough to buy it straigh away... after checkin' some sound samples, I could thell my shit behringer amp (with a 12ax7 in the pre) has nicer overdrive than that
can u not post the pod xt settings for the slash tone man seen as u done it for the vox tonelab your tones are xcellent please give me the ingredients ive a pod xt live and i just cant get it
Hey man, I took your settings and put them in my SE.Great AFD tone!!!You nailed it!I think that the G12H30 cab is the most desirable "must have" cab for me. Vox really did a great job with it! p.s. It works perfect with my PC,but not so well on my tube amp...well we can't have it all.cheers ;)
guys hi.....i 've just buy the tonelab st...but i have 2 Questions.....First of all i'd like to know if i can make tones from pc....if i can please tell me how...i cant find it... and the second is how to save a tone that i created on the pedal please PM me....
Great! I have a Korg AX3G and the same guitar and did the similar settings on it and sounds good, but can you make a patch which is correctly for a Korg (AX3g or 5G or 10G whatever, cuz its the same), or if you can the Use Your Illusion tone?
hey puromojo, I tried this settings on my new tonelab st and altought it sounds nice, it doesn't match your sound, could it maybe that your using a vox amp with a 4x12 cab? Also i notice that in the settings it says that you use the US high gain, but according to the manual, the UK Metal CST is the slash signature amp, I used that one and I think it sounds closer to the AFD tone than the US high gain.
@saulclaws Hi man, I didn't use any real amp, it was recorded on USB. Taste is so personal and I'm glad you found something that you like more and you think it sounds better to way and to the way you play. Anyway, thanks for sharing the info and keep rockin! ;) PM
@PuroMojo Thanks, I also had a question, in the Mod which i believe is Echo Plus, Could you tell me the edit 1, and edit 2. since it is not in the video. I would appreciate it. thanks
hey i finally got my tonelab st today, will try this settings tomorrow, but even without it the pedal is amazing. thanks for this video, this was what motivated me on buying it.
@saulclaws hey can you help me out? I got mine a while ago and I finally want to start putting in patches but I am a noob so I cant. Can you upload the patch to the site so I don't have to spend like 12 hours trying to put this patch in?
@diablo9333 Hi man, unfortunately I have never tried to upload a patch over to the toneroom, but trust me, is not that hard to dial the settings, once you read the manual you can pretty much just copy what he has in the video. If you want I can try and make a video of me doing everything from scratch using the same settings as in this video.
@diablo9333 well then it really wouldn't help to download the patch with the same settings if you say it sounds muddy. only thing I can recommend is to try to get that afd sound by yourself, just like this guy did. or you can go to the toneroom and try to find a patch for a slash tone, I'm pretty sure there are some there.
i was wondering what kind of amp are you using in this? great sound and appreciate your opinion about expensive guitars and amps, you're totally right! :)
Can you put the patch up for download please? I just got my tonelab and I don't know how to make custom patches yet but I know how to add them? Also did you have problems with fuzziness in recording?
@Vandude13 Yes I just got it and because I like to play at like 10pm I use the USB port on it to connect it to my computer and then I go into Garageband and create a new track but don't record and set the monitor(monitors sound) to on so I can hear myself play. You can do the same for windows but you would either need a program or you could mess around with volume controls because I got it so my mic to when I used windows to make tutorials.
@Vandude13 No problem. The vox tonelab st is very easy to get used to(I just got it 2 weeks ago). The only thing I have problems with is making patches from scratch but I only tried once so what can you expect lol.
@FragaPTreg yeah. a buddy of mine uses a gt10 with a fender acoustasonic amp. it works pretty well. the acoustic amp gives more accurate pedal sound cause it's designed not to distort.
@alexvirtual Actually the tonelab already comes with one specifically for Sweet Child. I use it for more than that though. It is just a great little preset.
Surely, people got blinded by expensive corporations that make them think that the only kind of equipment that really worths is the very expensive and the most rare on the market.....
This digital pedals and this cheap (but good) guitars save the life of a lot of ppl..... and help them to become professionals more soon, not needing something more that 2000 dollars
@themadman8100 I've already tried.... the problem that in ST is missing Greenback Cabinet model... It's impossible do find that tone without that cab! Only thing missing on it, 'cause it's also my preferred cabinet.
@joshua0226 On amps I prefer POD models, but I prefer Vox warmer responses. On fx both are not that good... Both are good to record with USB. I use more my POD X3 'cause it has much more features than Tonelab ST, but that doesn't mean I prefer one to the other. They both have good features and things that are not that good.
@PuroMojo Ah I see. well I might get pod x3 for all the effects and recording. Im gonna record my jcm 800 4104 combo because i feel like i have a really cool tone similar to this
hello, i have bought a vox tonelab st and tried setting up to what you have on here but not achieved the same sound unfortunately. i was wondering if you could help. i was wondering if you could help me fine tune all the settings individually because i was struggling with some of the settings you put up there such as what is the cab? @PuroMojo thankyou very much :) i have a marshall mg30dfx at the moment but i have an afd100 on preorder for when they come out. would it be possible be achieve the same sound as on your video with this amp?
Putain impressionnant 0.O tu déchires mec !! Merci beaucoup pour les réglage du tonelab St ca m'a beaucoup aidé ! Juste une question , quand je met ce son mon ampli siffle un max tu saurais d'où ca peut venir ? Merci A+
hey i would send you this video anwser to show you my interpretation of this afd sound for the tonelab ;) the second patch in my video (Vox Tonelab ST - My Favorite Tone) is you tone but a little bit different :) hope you like it keep on rockin bro ;)
@T2FOX10 Comme je ne sais pas comment expliquer: voici from Wikipedia: "the player's thumb or index finger on the picking hand, slightly catches the string after it is picked, canceling the fundamental of the string, and letting one of the overtones to dominate"
@elrondisilra I'm not sure if it has the same Amp Models as the Floor Pod Plus, but try a Brit HiGain Amp with a similar cab. Other than that, the settings should be about the same. :)
@PuroMojo What do you mean? I made the effect myself and it sounds nearly the same. The only thing I could be wrong about is the amps/cabs on the other pod, which I said I didn't know. o.O
Also, if you're going to say someone is wrong, explain what they are wrong about and what is wrong with it. If you can't back yourself up, how can anyone know what IS correct?

elektrisch007 1 year ago
@elektrisch007 It's the type of "PEDAL" on your Tonelab st... I used COMP that means COMPRESSION at level 5 ;)

hello PuroMojo
is the tonelab at this video pulgged in your amp or not?
and can you play a tonelab wothout a amp?
thanks
elektrisch007 1 year ago
@elektrisch007 No, it's not plugged to an amp... you can use it without an amp, that's the deal actually with amp modelers...
By the way, I plugged it into my PC with a USB cable to record its sound

Nice to see someone who realizes Slash's tone wasn't as milky smooth and pretty as people seem to think. Pretty darn close dude!

T2FOX10 1 year ago
@T2FOX10 Comme je ne sais pas comment expliquer: voici from Wikipedia: "the player's thumb or index finger on the picking hand, slightly catches the string after it is picked, canceling the fundamental of the string, and letting one of the overtones to dominate"
C'est exactement ca :)

Can you do it for pod xt please?
elrondisilra 1 year ago
@elrondisilra I'm not sure if it has the same Amp Models as the Floor Pod Plus, but try a Brit HiGain Amp with a similar cab. Other than that, the settings should be about the same. :)
ssjfulkon198 1 year ago
@ssjfulkon198 Small talk... you're wrong.
PuroMojo 1 year ago
@PuroMojo What do you mean? I made the effect myself and it sounds nearly the same. The only thing I could be wrong about is the amps/cabs on the other pod, which I said I didn't know. o.O
Also, if you're going to say someone is wrong, explain what they are wrong about and what is wrong with it. If you can't back yourself up, how can anyone know what IS correct?
