You buy "regular" seeds, then its all hit and miss, some are feminine some are male. if you buy "feminized" seeds well then, there all female and you dont have to worry. feminized seeds can cost 2x more then regular seeds but at least theyll all grow. And look at the big picture. what do you spend on weed a month? probably 10-20 bucks a day. You buy 10 seeds for 60 bucks, and if all ten grow well then you could get up to 1000g. on a good plant

@criminalquinn I turn them on for 30 min at a time. Rock wool cubes drain quickly and you won't over water them. check out bubbleponics at stealth hydro.com. they run water to the plants all 18 hours by oxygenating the solution.

@TheHabit00 Soil is better for the plants than hydro, depends on seeds etc. yields so on. Hydro doesnt produce bigger or better bushes, the whole point of a hydro is quick growing on a multiple scale. Thats the only point to a hydro growing on multiple levels, being able to just leave it, let the lights water and fans do what they need to, if you have only a few plants and intend on keeping it that way, just stick to soil, the results will be better too

@netojr90 Right I checked your pro and your in the us, I dont know electicity prices there, but I can tell you a 650 watt light (hps) on for 18 hours a day (504 per month) will around £62. a month to run and 1000 watt (hps) will cost around £95 a month (kwh per hour @ £0.19p) obviously you need your fans on top along with pumps etc, but I have no idea at what set up your going to use so cant really tell you anything more than this

@bigmike784 It doesnt really matter to be honest best off planting it downwards not sideways, plant a couple in different directions (up/down) just keep watch for a sprout and stick them under lights (the guy on here said he uses half nut, but to be honest at that early stage you can get away with just water) they need about 60/70% humd, the room temp will need to be around 25/26 deg unless your using a co2 system and you will get away with about 27- 29 (youll need to check water lmore often)

@impek To answer from a biological stand point, the stomata of the plant are located on the bottom of the leaf. will the p680 and p700 ps are on the top, if light came up from the bottom the plants would all become dry and die. stomata evolved to the bottom of leaves for a reason

for germination your working way to hard. just take the seeds put them in a paper towl. keep it moist and watch them hatch make sure the moisture stays above or so but no need for the hps just yet. let the seeds sprout before u start on all that.

get your seeds from the internet and be sure pay with international money order, and have the seeds sent to a different location than where your growing. most seed banks are very discreat and mst of the time i even have a hard time getting to the seeds when they come. getting them in the mail has its risks but you can minimize your risk.
