Sifu Davis has touched hands with Jesse Glover. In his opinion, Glover exerts too much pressure during Chi Sao, so maybe it's simply a case of different courses for different horses. In addition, Davis teaches Bruce Lee's material from the Seattle, Oakland, and L.A./Chinatown Period. To my knowledge, Glover's material focuses on the techniques taught during the Seattle Period.
Chud: Ah, no it's not. Bruce Lee did not incorporate a single technique from Muay Thai into his art. The Muay Thai fighting stance does not resemble the JKD Bai Jong stance in any way, shape, or form. Muay Thai techniques also lack the economy of motion present in JKD. Please do your homework before posting on Bruce Lee's art.
Something special? Sifu Davis didn't state that he was reinventing the Wing Chun wheel. His point is that learning chi sao is an important piece of the JKD puzzle. Nothing more, nothing less. Wing Chun is the foundation of JKD and Bruce Lee's inclusion of boxing and fencing concepts is what makes this martial art special.

Ummm, NO, he doesn't have a point! The guy that I am using to demonstrate with is a Jeet Kune Do Instructor also. The energy that should be there is there! This is the problem with mostly inexperienced people trying to say what the "see" when watching chi sao! It is not what you see, but what you FEEL that is important! As for Jesse's chi sao, it is even further modified and changed from Bruce Lee's chi sao, so not a good comparison point at all!
I have trained with Sifu for years. I consider him a friend and a mentor. He is the real thing. Many say they can but cannot, a lifetime of knowledge resides within this man. I have trained with allot of wanna bees if you have ever a chance to learn or take a seminar or read his books or articles it will only enhance your knowledge and skill.
