  • check out my version

  • the vocal performance is just unbelievably powerful

  • thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!

  • This is the most romantic song I've ever heard. Who else could take a line like "you ain't a beauty but hey, you're alright" and make girls swoon?!

  • Just the Greatest...

  • Awesome....not many people in this world I care to meet, but I would love to meet Bruce

  • waiting for the big man to come crashing in ?!?!?

  • What a man, What a band, What a fucking vocal!

  • Best version of the song. Smooth.

  • who are these 17 people in the dislike column? BBBRRRRRUUUUUUUCCCCCCCEEEEEEE

  • So thankful this video is back. Easily my favorite version.

  • yea when i first decovered utube i had it on my fav then it said some kind of copy right thing and they took it from us glad to have it back

  • 17 dislikes??? i just dont get that...this is an amazing version..so beautifully done....

  • This is by far my favorite performance of any song all time, period.

  • I'd say if someone had never heard the earlier stuff this video is absolutely a perfect place to begin. Hooks my heart everytime. It may not be the best but the song is perfect.

  • Classic song. Classic, timeless performance, the Boss at his best. Brings out the best in his voice and the meaning of the lyrics. It's good to have it back!

  • This song is SO MUCH BETTER SLOW. It truly gets the meaning across. I see how youthful exuberance wants to make everything fast, but Thunder Road is so much more dramatic and suspenseful slow. I enjoy every dramatic moment!

  • ive heard the stories about how the band was tired and miserable for this show....well didnt affect them...this is amazing

  • see the english do it the best !! you yanks aint gotta clue !!

  • @bristolcityifcation springsteen b yankee

  • GOD.....thank you.........thank you...........for this video...........waited 2 be back ages......glammer you are the MAN.Greetings fron Greece

  • wow almost forty years later and this still stirs my soul

  • The best version of my favourite song. It always make me cry. Thanks from Spain for posting this video!

  • 25 yr old Bruce was unstoppable

  • A legend

Words can't describe how big Bruce is

  • Jesus Christ...powerful

  • At the moment I'm listening to this version at least ten times a day...

  • the best performance of this great song.

  • NO WAY THIS VIDEO IS BACK!!!!

  • This performance is probably impossible to top.

  • nothing to add, this says it all

  • The lyrics are poetry

  • i think this "thunder road" is the best live performance

  • This performance proves Boss is a great vocalist because of accompanying only by his harp and Bittan's piano.

  • The Shakepeare of the modern age

  • this is the best version of this song, i love it

  • Best song ever wrote

  • Simple and perfect. :)

  • @drohegda.......i was pretty much forced into going to this concert that night, i had never really heard much of his stuff b4 this point, my bro had a spare ticket and had no 1 free to go so i got roped in, that night i had a musical overhaul of the way i thought and listened to music for the rest of my life.....35 years on i dont leave the house with out his music with me......

  • @jayshere1973 i thank you so much jayshere1973 , it beauftiful to hear your feelings on what was a night in musical history ,and you were present.their. Drohegda

  • i would like to hear some comments from some english folks that were there that night , and saw Buce the first time that night. Drohegda . Thank You!

  • @drohegda

Quiet similar to jashere I had never heard of him either, I was only there because my lady [now my wife] had to work late, but a friend of mine was over from Dublin to review the concert for the Irish Times and he had two press tickets so nothing to lose I thought.

The lights went black just as we sat as if they had waited for us and then this very faint harmonacy started to play and a very dim light lit up a berry in the middle of the stage and the rest you know... what a show

  • My father is from New Jersey and he was a huge Springsteen fan. So I'm a big fan, too. Thunder Road is our song. I've always loved this record, it's like a little movie: "The screen door slams, and Mary's dress sways ... " My father used to cry, dance with me, and then say, "When you get married and you drive off in a Cadillac, I'm going to run after you."

    -Lady Gaga

  • Springsteen, I salute you for having conceived this masterpiece.

  • poetry. beautiful.

    thank you Bruce.

  • The Boss gives everything in every song and every performance....You can feel the honesty and passion in his voice.....He leaves it all out there on the stage....

  • thank you, bruce. for having the courage to let the music inside you come out...so we can be reminded that we are not as alone as we might have thought.

  • And this is live voice..... I mean without any technological voice alterations... Amazing man... Amazing!!!!!! Loved it!!!

  • this song gets me everytime, peace for all people around the world

  • holy shit

  • this man has contributed so much to humanity. quiet genius. sounds like today. always will.

  • this is more than music.

  • 35 years and still relevant. How much of todays music will be around that long?

  • @brumph123 All of todays music will. The "noise" of our generation that some people claim is music which is really stuff they threw together in 5 minutes out of law and paying media corporations to speak well of them. This, however, is forever.

  • After all these years, I think this one is still the best of them all. It never fails to blow me away.

  • @ghostoftomjoad1 I've listened to this song how many thousands of times over the last 36 years (omg!), but I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes as if it were the first time I heard it.

  • This is special.

  • Wow. Lovely soulful version of already beautiful song. The Boss Master. Voice of the heart alright

  • anything to see that live.. anything

  • what an absolute ledgend i would of loved to c this done live i was at the hyde park london calling show and i would of been over the moon if he did this but he did play no surrender and first time i have ever seen glory days live

  • show a little faith, there's magic in the night.

you ain't a beauty but hey you're alright.

    my favourite lyrics ever.

  • most beautiful version of thunder road ever!

  • "Thunder Road" no thats how a song is sung from the soul -separates the legends from the singer....The Boss!

  • Joeslifeyork. This was written in 1975 which is 35 years ago

  • I wanna fly or swim hearing this song... it describes me the freedom, and the world which exists behind the freedom

  • i'll never get bored of hearing this song

  • Is it just me, or is it astounding to think that these lyrics were written by the boss over 25 years ago... i'm 27 now... and they are so profound to me, yet they're almost as old as i am.... the epitomi of a timeless classic. My dad raised me on Bruce, so thankfully, given timeless classics, when my Pa passes, i'll constantly be reminded of my dads great work by this awesome song. Thank you Dad, and thank you Bruce. LONG LIVE THE BOSS!!!

  • @joeslifeyork That's what it's all about right there...beautifully said...

  • greatest song EVER written! EVER!

  • i now have a boner

  • "Thunder Road" è una delle canzoni più belle della storia della musica.

  • Along with 'Tangled Up In Blue' by Bob Dylan,'For Whom The Bell Tolls' by Metallica and 'Rosalita(Come Out Tonight)' by Springsteen this is the greatest song of all time

  • If there is a god, it's Bruce Springsteen :')

  • a killer tune

  • I dont really like Live videos, but this was magnificent

  • Mary's dress sways.....

  • @McW00000

    Mary's dress waves... :)

Best song ever written, no doubt. Roy really does his job and this video proves that you don't need nothing more than a Boss and a piano to get the best version of the best song ever.

  • I think this was the Bruce at his very peak, the E street are just so cool in this concert and Bruce is just like some kind of sub religious legend.

  • How in the name of Sam Hill did 15 people vote thumbs down for this pop music classic? Unreal!

  • his voice is stunning...the piano is stunning ~ best song ever written!

  • @gjchap Agreed. His voice wasn't as polished back in the day, but it was magical, nonetheless. I still get goosebumps every time I hear this song!

  • Thanks for posting Glam. Wow!

  • Bigger and better than god himself!

  • No bullshit, just a man and his music, thats springsteen. Tells you a story and you feel like you lived it.

  • Could the world fall?

  • "Why didn't he look both ways" Cheaky Freak of the Week, Karl Pilkington, 2003

  • this is for you all lonely, loveable people all over the universe

  • great song..

  • Bruce was rocking the beanie before every douche bag singer/songwriter in the world was ... frequently immitated NEVER equaled

  • i'm in tears again and again

  • uAo.... ESA ARMÓNICA REALMENTE SUENA BN!!!!

  • MERAVIGLIOSA!

  • Hello, I sent this across the miles and the ocean to the love of my life one night, it just sums up everything about her, except the part where he sings "you ain't a beauty, but hey, you're allright", she was the most beautiful, most precious thing in the world to me. I had the vision of the picket fence, the kids, her on the porch, bursting with love for each other. We split up one year ago, without what seemed a real explanation on her part. I'll always love her

  • Hello

  • I'd put this particular performance up against all comers. Simply mesmerizing.

  • i wish i had a time machine...

  • @elementality809 was thinking the exact same thing!

  • @elementality809 was thinking the exact same thing!

  • ok who in the name of god could dislike this? It sickens me that there are more than 0 dislikes

  • I've been listening to the Tortoise and Bonnie Prince Billy version heaps. It's pretty awesome. This version reminds me of how Tom Waits writes ballads. It's obvious that they've influenced each other. Great song.

  • This is unplugged before unplugged.

  • anyone else think he sounds a little like Phil Lynott?

  • ti amo Mara!

  • AMAZING

  • Ohhhh, to have been at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1975. Probably the best concert by anyone in any time in any genre.

  • @richragan2 - Agreed. One of the best concerts, track-to-track every committed to tape. Bruce at his finest.

  • He is about 25 when this was filmed.

  • @Forensource

He's 26 to be exactly, but it's still amazing that somebody this young could write all these masterpieces. I'm only 16 but Bruce is my all time idol, been to 8 concerts and everytime I hear a song like this I get goosebumps. Especially from the 1978 concerts, because these are the best in my opinion, they're so raw and full with emotion and energy. If I could have one wish in my whole life it is to travel back in time to 1978.

  • By far one of the best performances by Bruce or any artist. You can feel the raw emotion. Love it!

  • Yeah, it IS unbelievable!!! That's not lady gaga, that's why it is unbelievable.

  • WOW.

  • what else can we do...exept roll down the window and let the wind blow back our hair.............

  • not a huge Bruce fan but much respect...this version kills me, none better. wow

  • It really doesn't get any better that this!

  • Stunning, Magical and Beautiful!!

  • @BalancingBella

    LONG LIVE THE BOSS!

  • Amazing :)

"Show a little faith there's magic in the night"

  • 1:51 amazing when he sings "throw roses in the rain"....

  • sometimes we've all got to trade in our wings for wheels

  • I really was born too late. My friends rabnt and rave about how awesome the charts are and-yeah, there are ocassionally some good songs. I'm not saying there aren't, I have a bunch on my iPod. But...this. This is real music. This is about hopes and dreams, about a broken past and a better future. It's tender and sweet, wistful, beautiful. Thanks, Bruce. :) <3

  • @MillieInAction Touche' - Except, I was not born too late. My first live show was the summer of 1973. Jersey Shore, Fat City in Seaside Heights to be exact. I (among many others) knew he would be what he became. I think we knew before he did--but, I know he knew he was better than the rest. The fans did the rest for him.

  • @ 2:47.....love it.

  • Perfection

  • its disgusting how artists with very little talent have millions upon millions of views on youtube these days, and most people don't even know about real music like springsteen here

  • This song has changed my life...and in a positive way.

  • hands down, my favourite version of this song. i could listen to it forever.

  • Goosebumps...

  • Bruce didn't have to get all dressed up....

  • I LOVE U BRUCE!!!!!!!!

  • you can listen to this one over and over again.....pure art, thank you Bruce :-)

  • This along with his Live in New York set aka 1999 is near to perfection as ever........

    amazing....

  • This is why Bruce is the best song writer eva, no chorus or catchy hook, just a beautiful story filled with honesty and raw emotion...God I love this guy

  • what an absolute god

  • Youunnnnngggggg

  • Springsteen live is like nothing else.

  • my favourite

  • not a big bruce fan, until now, this might be the best song i ever heard wow!!!!

  • I would give allmost anything to get those days back again,to be there and listen when B. sings...hey that`s me and I want you only.......Thunder road.......

  • You really appreciate his voice with the stripped down version.

  • clean version, my god this is good!

  • this is the greatest musical performance i've seen in all my life

  • very cool....the "Boss" lives...I finally moved to the "BadLands" of New Jersey, got my Girl, My Black Lab "Rocky", and a good life....livin' on "Thunder Road", dedicated to JackieMc.....

  • Once again, this is the GREATEST song ever, LOVE THIS, thank you Bruce!

  • karl pilkington has a head like a fucking orange

  • No, that song is called "Two Souls (Angelina). I think it's about Audrey Hepburn's Character in "Breakfast At Tiffany's." Great song, but it's not by Lou Reed.

  • great song

  • The boss don't need come back tour, reality shows, ass kissin interviews, new dews and make overs. He is just him and thats what makes him one of the best ever.

  • my favourite version of my favourite Springsteen song!

  • This song gives me chills.

  • before they ever came to london, no one knew who they were and bruce was saying how people came to see this band and they all thought they'd be bad but actually they were great!

  • I love this version. The toned down version of this is much more intimate. You can feel what he was writing and singing about.

  • never realized how similar he is to tom waits. easier to listen too. but very similar.

  • this is fucking awesome.

  • .........speechless........

  • @reds1003

    yeah,you are right :) thumbs up :)

  • sublime,it shows so much soul this performance, this is art at its best,

  • The term "Legend" is used all too fleetingly in U-Tube land but on this occassion, it is wholly appropiate..!

  • Only a true artist performs live this way. Man, this is 25 yrs ago. Classics are just what they are... classics.

  • @thongseck 35 Year ago.

  • @thongseck actually, it's 35 yrs ago :) But everything else is true..

  • @thongseck uh more like 35 years ago. makes it even more of a classic i guess

  • Epic epic epic epic. Goosebumps and all.

Gets you to buy some old V8 and hit the road. Unfortunately it's not that easy here in Hungary... :)

  • Never been a fan of BS but this song and this performance is absolutely stunning. Pure, raw talent, poetry that comes from the heart.

  • this is the best ever, the Boss is the best ever!!!!!What can we do?

  • this is the best ever, the Boss is the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!What else can we do?

  • This brings back the best memories of my high school years in Jersey.

  • Thanks for putting this up...I think it's beautiful.

  • simply pure magic bruce !

  • Love this song and this is by far the best version. So much more intimate. You feel like he's really talking and singing to Mary.
