Illegal?? Yes, they just paid £6000 compensation to 2 of these "f*cking hippies" for unlawful arrest and being held without reasonable suspicion. Others of the 60 people held will now follow suit and sue.
What a double waste of our tax money and waste of police resources. Fascism doesn't pay :)
Cops know full well that nothing illegal is happening inside the building - they are attempting to whip up an atmosphere of fear and violence in the hope that protestors will react violently, break the law, thus giving them a raison d'etre.
Frankly hideous tactics - the Metropol have shown they're rotten from top to bottom.
You are just another stereotyping idiot. How can you assume it was 'posh kids', I was there (although I left 1 hour before the raid) and it was full of people from ALL walks of life.
so much for "protect & serve" these guys have a job 2 do fair play to that but these guys get seriously over the top & jus seems to me that they are all power mad, they will not gain any respect for thier authority with such behaviour! this behaviour makes me sick, theres serious crime going on all around the world, evicting people froma squat is not what i would call a high priority in this world. it realy is getting out of hand.
Why don't they do this at more council estates?

There has always been a choice of career for a thug in London. They can either become a criminal or they can join the Met. Same thing really.

Besides, it is _not_ illegal for a police officer to refuse to give their numbers. Although, it is generally against Police guidelines.

Their dicks and brains are the size of a peanut. Therefore the need to do that.

These guys get their rocks off walking around in riot suits, screaming, and overpowering people. This is the highlight of their jobs.

What was it they charged the people inside with again? Intent to create violent disorder or some shit like that, was it? Rich.

That last was not sarcastic, BTW.. They can't hear you? Clearly the cops are taking the piss.
But the simple fact is: they aren't there to take the piss, they are there to uphold the law.
Refusal to give their numbers is against the law. Taking the piss is rude, but in that case was illegal.
I've never been to a major demo in my life.
I *will* be attending any future demos against the police tactics.. it's obscene, what the police are doing. Obscene.

I like the police action here. The orderly rows, the co-ordinated shield action: it's all lovely footage.
Then comes the big finish: the storming of the Bastille!
But I think that "Saving Private Ryan" did it better, to be honest.
At least in that movie the guys defending the beach had weapons too, and I think there were fewer attackers.
I mean: how many riot cops do you NEED to rush into a squat and throw posh kids to the floor?
Hope you follow through with a complaint about their numbers
RockingOnPluto 2 years ago
This is ridiculous. The police force is stepping waaay out of line. An obsene abuse of authority. Feel like 1984 anyone?

Looks like riotous assembly and conspiracy to cause a breach of the peace to me, and that's even without the breaking and entering, assaults, etc.

Shame on you, police. You are meant to defend the right of peaceful protest, not criminalise protesters. I'm disgusted.
