@mcgyver2K you can tell the engine is under a load and you can hear wind noise. plus the ABS light would come on if you did that on jack stands, (in two wheel drive)
just to let you know i have a 04yukon with a 4.8l yea its small but i have had hypertech and it shuts it off at 128 so i went with superchips and it shuts off at 150 and mines far from stock so i had to go with a full pcm brun and let me tell you son its no joke i also put a stage 2 streat/strip tranny with 2500 b&m 10inch stall and now its a beast out the hole so im on your side ppl dont understand mine came stock with 285 and now im putting out around 450 at the wheels

Even though people try to sell their cars for more when they have them.. So if you are planning on selling it after a while I don't think it would be worth it.
A stock 1999 what? Tahoe? Unless it's a 2dr Tahoe that's been completely stripped out and aerodynamically modified for 20MPG. Because if you get 20MPG that means (if it's a Tahoe) that you get 600 miles to the tank. Which we all know you don't....
its possible if all you're doing is highway. my family rented a suburban to go on a trip. it was loaded down with 6 people plus their luggage, going about 75mph the whole way, and we got about 19. so yeah, it definitely possible for one to get 20 mpg in a tahoe...
Rather than paying $300-$500 for a tuner that you have to program yourself, you're better off paying about $400 and getting a "custom" tune from a place like Wester's. They will work with you to get a finely tuned setup for your specific vehicle, including any mods that you might have. And they can customize the tune for more HP, better gas mileage, or a balance of the two. Give Butch a call at a place called Advanced Products (advancedprod-dot-com), and he'll hook you up with a hell of a tune!!
I agree, at this time I was just using the HPP3 - which couldn't be easier for what I needed(picked it up used for very cheap after someone returned their truck to stock and traded it in), I've heard good things about Westers and will use them if I do more mods to the truck.

Still, I love those little discreet units you can put in the corner of the window for states wtih no radar detectors...... Then again, VA may be the only state where there is such a law...... They need to change that.
With the v1 it is still recommended that you mount the actual unit on the windshield (near the middle), the remote mount is just so the lights and arrows are more discreet.
I wouldn't want to hit more than 100mph in a SUV, I drove my dad's Suburban at 100mph and it feels unsafe. I hit more than 100mph in my Silverado and it feels really safe. Pretty impressive seeing an SUV hit more than 100mph though.

I have a 04 . I get about 15.5 mpg with my 22s. But that is with a 35 mile highway commute. Cruising at 60 the instant shows from 16 to 19.
