btw, todays netbooks have Nvidia ION chipset, wich has some advantages (it features a CUDA capable GPU) over intel GMA.

It will run much faster with linux (Ubuntu netbook remix, Kuki, etc.).

I'm really impressed by the multitouch touchpad, nice feature.

I bought one today only a 160Gb drive though. I am very impressed, it runs xp with all the bells and whistles very well indeed.

The quality of the keyboard and case is far sturdier than the compaq cq60 i have next to me although still only 1" thick, 10.1" wide and weighing less than 1.2Kg

I think i might put linux mint on the main partition but other than that im very impressed with this little purchase.

this thing is pretty good. i like it. but bootup is a little slow. probably my biggest complaint though. and its really not that bad.

ive had one for about 3 weeks. works great. theres a slight crackle to the speakers but nothing really worth mentioning. i guess thats normal. i get about 3 hours on a battery charge which takes about an hour to charge. all in all, i was gonna get an ipod touch and for 50 doallars more. this is so much better.

Actually you will need DDR2 SDRAM for this netbook.

I just bought one last week, and it was the last one wal-mart had, so im going to best buy to get another for myself next week. they are great little things. and you can upgrade from win7 starter to ultimate for free, just look for the videos on how to on youtube!

I haven't ever heard of this netbook before. Nor have I seen anything under 270$ new netbook wise just refurbished ones. I live in canada though. I take it this is in the states. You should try moblin 2.1 os aswell It looks pretty nice

I just bought the same exact model today and I love it!!! I think for the price, you can't go wrong and from what I hear, Acer's quality is on par with the big dogs. I think it's 228.00 spent wisely. Nice video!

i just got this and its amazing. the only thing that isnt really great is the battery, i do like how fast it runs though. the fan is great, and so is the monitor, and the RAM is excellent. ive recently torrented windows 7 ultimate and got fire fox with it and HOLY SHIT. its hella fast. i recommend it highly.

i bought one and its a great laptop. the only two things about the laptop that are bad about it are you cant upgrade the proccesor and the touch pad is pretty small. other wise a good laptop.

you keep saying how fast jolicloud is but it looks like it took about 50 seconds to boot into jolicloud, deducting the time it took to login. Doesn't seem that fast

I love this netbook. I paid 180 off of Craigslist for it, person had it less than a month. but I love it. I use my phone as a wireless router (HTC Touch Pro2) and it connects everytime. i have recommended to several people. Im download Jolicloud now as we speak...so thanks for everything.

I just don't like how it came with a bunch of trial software, and the one thing that I was shocked about was that in windows starter you can't change the background, are you going to upgrade yours soon?

Use "Decrapifier" to remove trial software.

I really don't care about the background so I will not upgrade. I spend 99.5% of my time using apps.

I have this model too. Unfortunately, backup media is not supplied in the box, so you have to purchase a CD/DVD-R USB Drive in order to burn your own recovery media. I am looking all over the internet, even on the emachines support and drivers section on their website, and no luck with any downloadable system recovery disc images. What would have been a smart move was if they allocated the recovery data into a seperate partition within the hard drive. This system is a good buy, though. It's fast

what do I need to purchase to run dvd's on it? I have family tree maker I want to load in? I just got the emachine yesterday and I'm not very computer savy. Walmart recommended the Targus Dvd-Rom Usb 2.0 drive, but the emachine is not recognizing it...any suggestions?

I also noticed that if I hook it to my 22" LCD Flat Screen Monitor, that it automatically switches to accomodate by showing more screen real estate. AWESOME!!!!

This computer does very well when watching Hulu and YouTube videos, even in full screen.

The keyboard keys give good feedback too.

The speakers are adequate. If you have and extra $75 bucks or so, email me and I'll send you a recommendation for a dynamite netbook that has a sub-woofer and a 95% + keyboard.
