@RSWHITEHORSE I agree with you Brother, I'd like to add that it wasn't Christianity that opressed Native People, it was the greed of the Spainish, Portuguese, French and other White men. If these people were true Christians, walking in the ways of Christ, they would not have done what they did.
we all come from dead ppl...we come from tha very first mother and so on...they are with us, protecting us in our lives and where they lead us...they help guide us....that where we come from, our ancetors...watever tha white man says, is there way but ours we came from tha earth and first man and first woman....to always remember who we are and our CLANS....thats how we establish ourselves as DINÉ PEOPLE..tha largest nation as of now...so be proud of that and where you come from......

I grew up on the Navajo Reservation and had grandparents that were MEDICINE MEN. My grandparents died in the 100's and I have learned a lot about my culture from them. I know a lot of Navajo traditional ceremonies and it does not include POW WOW and Native American church.
good. :)Pow wow is not of the Navajos. I think we Navajos are starting to borrow too many ideas from other tribes, as well as the white people. We need to keep the things that are uniquely Navajo, alive.
I hate it when people say Navajo, Dine Pride, they include some POW-Wow music. Pow Wow came from a different tribe. NOT Navajo. So is Native American Church. We adopted NAC from the Lakota. We have different Navajo ceremonies that are very traditional.

I study Navajo, Japanese, and Spanish, but there's only one that matters, and that's the one I was raised with. :)
I studied Navajo since kindergarten, and Japanese since the seventh grade. However, Navajo is the only one that I speak on an everyday basis, with all my fellow college buddies.
You are an EXCELLENT example for the rest of us, you are NIZHONI!!! Xicmotla ´palhui nopampa, translated: Greetings to you on my behalf! Nahuatl(aztec)
Yep, i get where you're comin' from, i speak english, spanish, learnin' since last year nahuatl(aztec)and only know a few words of pur'epecha, the ppl. of my mother's side....sad=(
Keep the sacred ceremonies only with the full bloods, and pretty much the Navajo traditional way isn't the pow-wow way. that was taught to us in boarding school. Guess pretty much it's just what Natives iterpret what is right. Maybe that's why we are selling our religions because we don't follow our true traditional ways, now.
That's really offensive. My fiancee is a Navajo and I am mostly white, we plan to take our children to Dine ceremonies. You want only "pure blood" in the ceremonies? IF you want pure blood, then inbreed, you racist.
Give me one very good reason why I shouldn't feel like that. If you say it's in the past, Then why are you a benefactor of it, This is my present. Never though like that, until I spent twenty years amongst the ignorant, double standard, two faced, greedy people. Screw your Capitalistic way of thinking. Thanks for putting me down and belittling me, it is making me stronger. :)
Firstly, how on earth is non-prejudice opinion capitalistic? Do you even understand the meaning of that word? Do you think you're doing ur people a favor by holding a grudge against everyone's ancestors? You're as bad as the black people who still whine about slavery. This is the future, and if you don't make an attempt to get along, what do you think will become of your culture? So all whites are ignorant and greedy? Does that make all natives stupid and unclean?
Think about what you're saying, and how unproductive it is. It makes your race look backwards. You're a shame to the Dine. And if I'm "putting you down" what the fuck are you doing towards us "ignorant double standard, etc etc"
Practice what you preach. You're not helping anyone. If I'm making your hate stronger, then you have a serious issue.
hello, i ask this question assuming that a native will be able to answer it for me. What would your reaction be to a "white man" who wanted to join your culture? Not all white men, have this idea to steal your land and assimalate your culture, I personally believe it is more the work of a paranoid goernment. Thx.
As a Navajo an speaking on my own..I don't have any problem with anyone joining my culture...We're all humans an believe in the same God..But some will argue..Cause of weak minds..As my Grandmother use to say...My we all "Walk an Live in beauty"
Rome fell overnight. There will be a day when the snake shall swallow itself and the Great Whore of the Earth shall fall. I desire not to use simple derogatory words a first grader could use. History speaks for itself and I am proud to where I'm coming from and sad but true but there is an awakening among my people while yours begins to reap what they have sown. Enough said, now leave at that because or this will just become a pseudo issue until that great day arrives.
How is it my fault what my ancestors have done? I'm sure yours weren't the best either. You blame me, when I'm marrying into a Navajo family, I am half-Blackfoot, and I'm raising my children traditionally. Sounds like I am less prejudice than you. I don't sit around and wait for the end of the world so my ancestors' enemies can pay.
The culture is beautiful. I've adapted it (probably because my fiancee is Dine) don't listen to porcupine, she's obviously racist and prejudice. I hope no one burns her hogan down.
It's not what your ancestors did, it the "present" perpetual behavioral of violence of a few, that manifests itself in the form of "hate crime" knowing full well the pretentiousness that bores in our souls sets off our animal instinct of "Natural Selection" = prejudice. Right?!
Wrong. That's one reason I why I don't believe in Darwinism. I truly believe, we are above that. In that, we were created by a Superior Being. Our present behavior will always conjure up resentment of the past.
Yes that is true and sad, my pur'epecha ppl. of Michoacan state in mexico, are few in number that continue speakin' pur'epecha, most prefer spanish,....we have been brainwashed by the whiteeyes!
Im very impressed. It is true and it is a fact. Im so proud I keep my tongue, my language, it so sacred, I want to learn more ... and more. This video need to be push out to all.

Thx.

actually, a true dine believes in the great creator,
first man, and first woman.
they believe in the trickster god Ma'ii (coyote)...
if one were to join the nation, one would have to know these things.....

Once the language is lost, so will go the culture. Many Indian languages are on the verge of extinction.
