  • Can any one tell me where Peter Cetera is today.......kcwomen

  • Sounds a lot like Led Zeppelin's Babe I'm Gonna Leave You

  • Oh how I wish I could've been there. <3

  • When Terry Kath was with the band they were really great!!!

  • One of the greatest bands there will ever be!!! Loved them since 67 when I was 8, My uncle took me to see them in 68 at the Garden and been to 31 more since then!

  • This is excellent, although.. Rush > Chicago.

  • omg it IS woof! :O

  • thanks so much.love this tune

  • only because Terry killed himself..and thats when the band felt sorry for him, (towards the end) the band was going nowhere with Terry, Peter Cetera was the saviour with his mega No 1 hits

  • Wow.

  • IMHO.... One of the best rock songs of all time!

  • Sorry, but this guitar player does not even come near the level Terry Kath. Listening to this crap makes me miss Mr. Kath even more!

  • @departurestall I totally agree!

  • Wow, who is this guitar player? Never knew about him.....

  • 素晴らしい!

  • Donnie Dacus had the full limelight with this band, and took full advantage ...Terry Kath was a boring overweight hippie hendrix wannabe with drug problems in the disco era, that's why he pulled the trigger.

  • @panzerfile63 Please tell me your joking... Kath was the heart and soul of Chicago. Dacus was just a good player and a good showman and all, but he didn't have the soul that Kath did.

Dacus also over did things, a lot.

  • @Megas9900 Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera were the very heart and soul of Chicago and writers of the band's STRONGEST material and greates hits, what hit did Terry ever wrote?? by the 70's all were unhappy with his unhappiness and he became a victim of his own circumstance and his own doom.

  • @panzerfile63 I disagree. Have you ever heard what the rest of the band had to say about how much Kath meant to the band?

  • @panzerfile63 Suggestion;.This may not be a wise time to evaluate your Karma.

  • All this guitarist needs is a bun and some mustard.

  • Good thinking, guys: hire a pretend Eddie Van Halen as a replacement for Terry Kath.

Poor Donnie Dacus. Poor, poor Donnie.....

  • I Love Chicago!

  • Excellent Guitarist! Peter Is Awesome! Truly Fantastic!

  • I think I just went to drum heaven 0=D

  • @mangazo15 I hope you've availed yourself of Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes and the like, too, then ;)

  • who is the guitarist?

  • Awesome solo and sexy looking custom paul !

  • Stupid Peter Cetera... thought he would do so well alone...

  • That;s DONNIE DACUS HOT LICKS on lead guitar!! the man chosen to replace the departed Terry Kath and this guy REAL ROCKS!!! the BEST that band ever had

  • its not the same without Terry

  • From a d i s t a n c e that leadguitarist resembles Peter Frampton

  • Yes......but it's Chicago, not Van Halen. It just doesn't "fit".

  • The lead guitarist is overdoing it a bit, dontcha think?

  • @Monkeyhead1986 That's the way its supposed to be!!! Its A LIVE PERFORMANCE!!!!

  • One of the best bands of the 70s and 80s,,hard driving and well arranged,,no matter live or studio,,

  • Donnie est un excellent guitariste mais il n'a hélas pas le charisme d' un Terry Kath et surtout il n'était pas a sa place au sein de ce groupe

  • This is what a REAL BAND sounds like, kiddies. This is where we separate the men from the boys - and these guys were definitely THE MEN. Thanks for sharing this...

  • @covenstead Sorry, no Kath = Chicago lite edition.

  • so me and my friends want to play this song for our school talent show. does anybody know where we can get the original score to this song. not a marching band or jazz ensamble version, but the version theyre playing here. can anybody help??

  • This is great for live

  • Damned that solo sounds like the Freebird solo...

  • i think this is lucky's favorite song on King of the Hill

everytime i hear this song i think of all the chicago nay sayers !

  • @TheFacelessK I came here just because of him requesting it being played during the last dance at the prom. Never really listened to Chicago before, but this is mindblowing :D

  • i saw these guys back in 82 , i had been on " vacation " 4 the last 4 yrs and mom wanted to take me to a concert , when she told me it was chicago i said ahh thanks but i was thinkin " fuck ! y not van halen or the who , fuckin chicago ? needless 2 say i was blown away , they really rocked . i was inpressed

  • 0:15 hey look! its Zach Galifianakis on the right XD

  • Donnie had some big shoes to fill. I guess he had to do it his way. Give him that much credit.

  • Kath was a great guitarist but here in this masturbatory solo he's doing his level best to emulate and imitate Peter Frampton at his homosexual best; from hair to dress tro antics. Stop all the arguing about nothing and go jerk-off to your Yngwie Malmsteen records.

  • @bassmangotdbluz UHHHHHHH...DUMBASS you do realize thats not kath in this video right???

  • It is sad that Kath didnt make it this far in his life and will not be remembered by as many as he should be. But GODDAMN THAT GUY HAS SOME CHOPPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great song! Funny but it's all about one of the band members who wrote it couldn't sleep & was thinking of questions and than counting them like sheep to go to sleep! Simple ideas MAKE MONEY!

  • Oh man, it had to be awkward watching those antics after the passing of Kath, both for the band and the fans.

  • Donnie Darcu reminds me of Michael J. Fox in back to the future.

  • ...... IF Jimmy Page were a Blonde.....

  • Sort of late to add this-- Can't bear to watch this guitarist totally overact his whole schtick. Looks like shit. Plays well - well actually overplayed the lead. Less is more sometimes especially when it is supposed to transmit expression -- just too much crap. TK's playing took you somewhere. Listen to

Eric Clapton. Doesn't try to play 100 notes per second. Expression. Emotion.

  • @bigf963939 WTF is wrong with you???

  • man i'm sorry, but 30 seconds of Terry Kath is better than three minutes of this cat jumping around. just my view.

  • @murphstrings Sad but true. I just read "Street Player" By Danny Seraphine, the drummer. I'm sure they all would have rather had Terry there as well, and this was right after the incident, You know all the guys in the band are still in shock. They had to go on as a group, with Contracts to fulfill, and all the drugs and infighting was tearing them apart in 1979. A lot of tragedy in this story. Great Music though! Great Talented Band.

  • SO. MUCH. SHREDDING.

  • Fucking Donnie got to love him. But replacing Terry is impossible.

  • sounds like the same power chords as "brain stew"

  • @robdog666 they are...green day loves ripping off other tunes

  • i dont give a fuck, id rather u dont listen to it because i know ur a fuckin idiot for writting that down and sharing it with the entire earth.

  • no auto tone. oh my god really? because i thought people fucking had that technology fourty years ago. im so fucking sick of everyone trying to make sure other people know their music is the best, if u litsen to chicago, cool , if u dont, cool i dont give a fuck, i know the music i listen to is good nad i dont need to prove to other strangers but posting retarded comments under videos. stfu and if ur gunna bring something to the conversations . if ur just gunna say im 12 and love this song.

  • You're all idiots if you don't recognize the riff from "Communication Breakdown" -- try to learn more than one Zep song before becoming a Zep historian LOL...BTW this the great Donnie Dacus on guitar, who filled in admirably after Kath shot himself.

  • this was 70 and stairway 72

  • @fcernig33

Led Zeppelin IV was released in 1971. This song is totally ripped off of Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.

  • @xKinseh did zepplin actually ever have a totally original song? they were a brilliant band...but they borrowed and stole a lot from others

  • @xKinseh (25 or 6 to 4 recorded 1969) written in 68

  • Damn good! Nothing else to say!

  • Can this new guitarist sing as well as Terry? No? Pwned!

  • oh, and by the way.....no auto tune or lip syncing here kids.

  • @theedrstrangelove haha ;)

  • @theedrstrangelove Yea that s real music! Imagine the idea of being able to play and instrument!!! The garbage of today is a joke!

    LONG LIVE CHICAGO!!!

  • to all the pop stars of today....and their fans............this is pure awesome music at it's finest glad i was able to experience it the first time around.

  • Not the same without Terry

  • Chicago auctioned off spots to sing one of their songs during their last tour to raise money for a cause; wouldn't it be sweet if they auctioned off the oppurtunity to play the guitar solo in this song?

  • so sicccckkkkkkkk

  • that was fucking awesome man!

  • led zep sure copied that part at 3:50, its so obvious.

  • Live dvd with a remixed 5.1 blu ray

    where it's at

  • @Newyork

    Where it's at ?

  • Chicago has to be one of the Greatest Bands ever . end of sentence

  • I don't know about Stairway to Heaven, but I can deffo hear a little of Babe I'm Gonna Leave you by Zeppo.

  • @Hakiblack Im the biggest Led Zeppelin fan ever, but they completely stole that word for word and music from a folk musician about 10 years before Led Zeppelin 1 came out...

  • Chicago has to be one of the Greatest Bands ever with a horn section....

not to mention the talent of musicians....

  • Great Band. Peter is a great musician and sinnger. Long Live Chicago..

  • America should spend more on BIG BALLSY BRASSY ROCK BANDS and less on bullets

  • impresionante solo de guitarra, un buen tributo a terry k, gran guitarrista este donnie dacus, gran video!

  • Actually, double bass drums at 3:43. Nice. Just caught that. I think this was a good solo by Donnie Dacus. He didn't need to move around stage as much as he did. That's never been Chicago's style.

  • Double bass drum at 1:07!!

  • KICKING ASS GROUP CHICAGO...MEXICO LOVES CHICAGO FOR EVER.

  • It really does not look like Peter Frampton to me ?

  • Comment removed

  • that's Peter Frampton playing that guitar. i saw him and Chicago play at U.S. naval Academy back in 70s, some of the best shows I can remember

  • Comment removed

  • @Mustanghands He does a great job!

  • Luv the guitar solo!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Donnie Dacus couldn't come close to Kath. He ain't in the same league. He's a half ass guitarist who tries to be showy doing shitty licks. Lame

  • @retrorokkit I have to agree with you here 100%. The solo was all over the freaking place. Completely lost the jazzy vibe and soul of Terry's original version.

  • Who is that guitar player. I bet the horn guys will interview the next guy more carefully ;-)

  • it's not the Rap hall of fame, cause, obviously, none of that crap would make any hall of fame

  • I didnt know Nigel from Spinal Tap played With Chicago......Long live Terry Kath!

  • I really had no idea how good Donnie was - I heard the come back song "Alive Again" and he didnt shine much in that tune - wish I heard him like this back then!

  • i liked in the solo part, the rythm section starting playin my sharona at the end ha.

  • Poor Kerry

    shot himself by aicident

  • Shades of the Stairway to Heaven riff in this lead line.............

  • @fouramhq isn't it funny that this song was written a year before stairway to heaven, fag?

  • @iwatchsomevideos isn't it even funnier that 'babe i'm gonna leave you' was recorded a year before this song, cockbag?

  • @yashi4000

fyi: 'babe i'm gonna leave you' isn't a led zeppelin original, the ripped it off from anne brendon.

  • @guitars470dxqmcn the lyrics were, but not the music

  • @iwatchsomevideos ?????????????? WHAT??? Stairway was MUCH earlier.

  • @PawneeBill47 you're dumb, troll.

  • @iwatchsomevideos You're a dumbass!

  • @iwatchsomevideos Are you sure?

  • @fouramhq you should take a music history class before say something!

  • @fouramhq noo stairway to heaven has shades of this riff....retard

  • Donnie Dacus was such a DICK! Glad he didn't last with the group.

  • @rainbowpunk73 You've got to be kidding? You must have this confused with the original guitarist, Terry Kath. That, I would whole heartedly agree with you on.

This guy sucks. He's all about "look at me put on a show and look how fast I can play."

BTW, Chicago "I'm a Man" rates up there too.

  • @rainbowpunk73 You've got to be kidding? You must have this confused with the original guitarist, Terry Kath. That, I would whole heartedly agree with you on.

This guy sucks. He's all about "look at me put on a show and look how fast I can play."

  • carina2244-Thank you for your response. This performance is no question outstanding, to the point of *Confusion* on my part, thinking *No one but Terry* could come close to that. I already saw your comment-About being heart broken, and *Not quite ready to give Dacus a chance.* In 7th grade, I started playing CTA music and have my life-Ever so sad... Thank you so... Blessings... Charlie +

  • BUT, having said that, there will NEVER, EVER, EVER be another Terry. He was the gold -- actually no -- the PLATINUM standard. Carlos, Espero que esto te encuentres bien. Muchas gracias por otro gran video de mi grupo favorito de todos los tiempos. Eres un verdadero amigo para los aficionados de Chicago! Saludos, Carina

Carlos, I hope this finds you well. Thank you very much for another great video of my favorite band of all time. You are a true friend to the fans of Chicago! Greetings, Carina

  • I'm going to go out on a proverbial ledge here and say that Dacus was probably the best follow up for Terry that the band ever had. I went to only one concert after Terry died (09/78 in Central Park); And, quite unfairly, I totally dismissed him because my heart was broken by Terry's death. In retrospect, and after having viewed many later concert clips, I must admit that he was very good. There is something about his playing, perhaps a fearlessness that is very reminiscent of Terry's playing.

  • Per Wike - Terry Alan Kath (January 31, 1946 – January 23, 1978), born in Chicago, Illinois, was the original guitarist and founding member of the rock band Chicago. He died in 1978 at the age of 31 from an unintentional self-inflicted gunshot wound. \\\ He meant a lot to me... / Could someone *Of knowledge* reconcile this being a 1979 concern, or correct Wike... Thanks - Charlie +

  • @AgentEmerald007 Hi, not quite sure if you're asking about Terry being in this video or not. Terry did indeed die on January 23, 1978. His first replacement, Donnie Dacus, is playing guitar in this clip (guy with the long blonde hair playing what used to be one of Terry's finest solos). This concert was in September 1979 -- 20 months after Terrry's death. There have been a succession of other guitar players since, the present one being Keith Howland.

  • You something guys..as candyassed and flashy pants as Donnie was, he is the only guitarist that actually evoked any Terry-ness in his style on certain cuts on the album and especially the song, HOT STREETS.

  • nothing rocks harder than a trombone player without a shirt.

  • There is no rock band like them. FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!! They so need to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!!! It is long overdue.

  • This is why I don't go to live shows anymore. What modern band could do this?

  • run DMC started the rap world ;;; witch i dont like ;;; chicago was around long before rap

  • Terry kath was at least tasteful in his leads. This guy is trying to be an acrobat of the 6 strings. Maybe he thinks he is playing with Styx. LOL. I'm kidding. I saw Chicago in 1986 and I thought they were fabulous. At least the horn section hasn't changed. Cliff

  • @TheDannyparks hey wut r u talkin about Styx has Tommy Shaw and James Young the BEST GUITARISTS EVER!!!!!!!!!!! terry kath wont a good guitarist but Styx beats chicago anyday

  • Comment removed

  • @martdude9 That would be a not so into the band himself ...the former anything Donnie Dacus.

  • prizelive. net

  • Man he seems bent on something, bad peter....lol

  • very strange

  • What is the song that Greenday allegedly ripped off from this?

  • @xiphoguy I can't remember they all sound the same to me.

  • he has my guitar!! =D (the les paul silverburst, although mine is an epiphone.)

  • this is ok! but can´t compare too MR Jimmy Page the Almighty.

  • Terry Kath is definitely one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived. He was a legend

  • What I don't understand about the whole Donnie Dacus thing is, on "Hot Streets" and "13", He wrote and sang his share of songs, and as this video shows, he's a very good player. If Chicago was gonna get rid of him, why was he granted such a substantial role, singing and playing? At first I thot it was an 'age' thing, but then look at Jason Scheff of the present-day Chicago. He was young when he joined. Some things I don't understand...

  • the One and the Original lead Vocal & Bassist, also the Original Drummer of the famous "25 or 6 to 4" song, Ladys & Gentlemen Mr. Chicago themselves PETER CETERA & (founding member) Danny Seraphine!

  • if im not mistaken, Green Day stole the opening riff in this song. Cheaters!

  • @MrBavery Don't talk about stealing - it is obvious that the WHOLE SONG is a blatant rip-off of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Same key, basically the same progression, similar groove, with a bridge in the relative minor. All you horn fanatics think horn bands are the only bands with any talent or originality, and that Chicago is the "Only" band to combine jass and rock n roll.

  • @xiphoguy Don't even begin to label me, when you don't know who I am. I don't even listen to this band, although I like their stuff. I'm in a band, and we have talent. Billy Joel has talent. Disturbed has talent, whoah shit! Alot of songs have similar keys, similar scales to follow, and similar riffs to play. What you said was "...Same key, basically the same progression, similar groove, with a bridge in the relative minor. That sounds like a different song to me.Green Day COMPLETELY ripped this

  • @xiphoguy So why don't you just think about what your really saying, before you make an argument with someone who knows what they're talking about? Okay?

  • @MrBavery What were we arguing about? I agreed w you that Green Day ripped off the song, i just went on to say that Chicago themselves may have gotten parts of the songs from "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". (BTW, I also noticed that the first phrase of the melody of both songs is the same). Ironically, George Harrison lost a plagiarism suit against the composers of "He's So Fine" because it was too similar to "My Sweet Lord". There are only 12 different notes; it's a matter of AMOUNT similarity

  • Chicks love the Peter Cetera.

  • Donnie was way to 80's head banger for Chicago but it was electric to watch him

  • The dude is trying way to hard to play like Terry. He doesn't cut it!

  • Really? You don't think he cuts it? The guy is in a no win situation. Filling TK's shoes. If he plays too differently, or God forbid with his own style, he'd be trashed by guys like you. Do you play guitar? This guy is a VERY good guitarist. Don't crap on him because he's not Terry, because nobody is. Give him a break. He did a very good job of emulating what people expect, and giving it something more. He smokes.

  • @TheRealRVG Looks like Frampton.Regardless wish I could play like him

  • Check out the face book fan page-INDUCT CHICAGO INTO THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME...Trying to get The Hall of Shame to get it done..

  • @karen031207 : the "hall of shame" is a BIG JOKE!..CHICAGO, could've, would've, should've (along w/ GRAND FUNK RAILROAD & PAUL REVERE & THE RAIDERS) been inducted, if it were'nt for those KNUCKLE HEADS who ever they are! x0\

  • to richard105...The RNRHOF is 100% politics, and early on Chicago did something (cant recall what) to piss off someone on the Board of Directors, and the guy said that as long as he was on the Committee, Chicago would never be inducted. Sucks, huh?

If you want to hear a horn section that will blow the walls out, just google "Tower of Power"

  • Very, very nice wriff!!!!

  • FUCKING AWESOME.

  • Who's the guitar player? Is that Terry Kath?

  • @titostacos to all: that is not Terry Kath nor Peter Frampton on guitar, it is

Donnie Dacus ( from the movie HAIR), he filled in when Kath shot himself.....

  • Fuck the Rock hall of fame. And rolling stone magazine

  • @rainmanx63 fuck yeah !!!

  • @rainmanx63 they put it in ohio because nobody wanted it in new york or in los angeles and the mayor of cleavland got behind it now that they have an annex in new york they have an opportunity to do something differant they could have some mention of new york musicians not inducted yet like the songwriters hall of fame did.

  • @rainmanx63 Right on

  • I saw them live about 15 feet away at the Morris Center for Performing arts in south bend in 2003. What a great show!!!!!!!!!!!!

Notre Dame's Ara Parseghian was in the audience!

  • Re: the guitar solo - It was the '70's, and arena rock was all about over-the-top, self-indulgent guitar solos. At first I was trying to figure out why Peter Frampton was playing with Chicago and I thought it a bit rude that he was trying to steal the show. lol Great stuff none the less.

  • also madona is in the hall of fame what the hell is up with that (also Rush needs to be in there to)

  • They where on some DRUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck the hall of fame

  • by far the best "ROCK "band ever

  • Donnie Dacus was a WEE bit overboard on his solo. More in line with a Spinal Tap show. Terry was no doubt turning in his grave.

  • Played this in High school band> Still love it!!

  • @cyberinjunding Sorry about the thumbs down, it was a mistake!

  • One of the best 70s song.

    *****

  • IT SEEMS LIKE FUCKING PETER FRAMPTON
