Music is very revolutionary. With music, you reach the multitudes and spread a message of resistance, counter culture,, unity and many other feelings. To say music is not revolutionary is just asinine. Because obviously music only existed at the same time the corporations existed right? (Sarcasm for you who didn't catch on) Music is everything.
@ortsac92 Lets pretend this is a discussion (you know, the rare kind of converstion where people listen to eachothers arguements): if music is so revolutionary, can you name to me ANY music that started off a revolutionary movement (that is not made-up)?
Anyway, I'm sure most of you will grow up some day, no hard feelings.
@McProZak Casas de carton by Los Guaraguos (I think thats how you spell it lol) In El Salvador songs like this which protested were banned off the airwaves and if you were caught listening to it, you would be executed under suspicion of being FMLN. Granted that it did't start the revolution but it sure did help further it you get me?
Hes got a good point alot of the musicians that did that type of music in Latin America were seriously persecuted. But i think its also safe to say that the anti war movement during Vietnam was greatly influenced by folks like John Lennon. Music helps to create culture.
@reddemon242 Well yeah you know if tom was playing it would be alot funkier instead of a progression that goes from the root to the 6th to the 5th i think. Totally agree that Tom is bad ass prolly one of my favorite guitarists he just pulls fat ass riffs out of thin air. It isn't a random keyboardist either its Zach playing and that is the drummer from mars volta never really listened to them though.
I was impressed w/ this band -- I can do without the 'singing' parts though (too much like nu metal or "emo"/metal hardcore -- whatever that contrived wallowing bs is called now.)
you got me there. More than entertainment, well yeah it's also an industry and a lot of pretentiousness. But by all means, keep your head in your ass if that feels good for you.

Zach de la Rocha i loved so much of your music...your insight is incredible.. i understand fully how a very few control the masses..munipulate at anyone and everyone's expense..just don't let it consume you... in the end when push comes to shove...loves conquers all...it is the only thing we take with us...i hope you happiness...

Yeah, liberty can be obtained when the people who follow make sure it's never tainted, and always on the ready for it to be taken away. But if the people allow gov't to play a game where they do everything for themselves and not the people then that's not liberty. I like Zack's revolution message, but Communism doesn't work like Karl Marx saw, Not the way Lenin, Stalin, and Castro did it.

Zach doesn't believe in the presidency..
He believes in liberty and equality, both of which are fuckin impossible with a ruler that decides things for you.
VivA,
Peace.

He's a communist and proud of it.

He said he followed the philosophy of Zapatismo, which is a mixture of autonomism, anarchism and communism.

"Yeah, liberty can be obtained when the people who follow make sure it's never tainted"
When liberated, you do not follow -- you decide for yourself. There is no dictator, president or minister of liberty.
