I completely agree with you. I went out the next day and bought the original song from itunes. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! The original song was so processed with voice correction and echoes. But the Idol performance was so much more REAL. He should sing with the flu more often!

His lyrics are so much more than "Wake Me Up.....". (Which was a fun song in the 80s). I saw him in Atlanta in July, and it was one of the best nights of my life, and he truly gave his all. For me, it was time and money very well spent.
I saw him in Berlin in Nov 2006 (cuz he wasn't going to take 25Live to the US) and thought he phoned in the performance. Saw him in Vegas this year and he was awesome. The voice was in great shape and the entertainer was in full gear. Still my favorite singer/songwriter. Find me a more prolific singer/songwriter and I'll eat your hat!
I was so hoping Itunes would put this up for sale. What beautiful emotion. It's better than any of the older versions of this song he'd done before. Very moving. This brings out all my emotions. He didn't apologise to the millions of people who he's letting down everytime he takes the stage and puts in a lacklustre performance.
His voice is screwed and I want my money back - 15 years I waited for a chance to see him live again - paid big money for tickets and left the concert feeling mugged.

I have enjoyed George Michaels music for many years! This appearence was a complete surprise and I loved every second of it. He IS a professional and it certainly showed with this performance.
George has been my favorite all my life and I just saw him in Tampa this past weekend...what an experience, cried before, during and after...waited for so long to see him and so glad he came to the US to tour...and this on Idol cried again even after seeing it and crying the first time. What a voice, what a talent...he makes me smile his voice and stage presence is unbelievable...a dream come true for me! Thanks George for so many years of tremendous music!

You will also notice that he is cupping his ear making sure he is in tune at the beginning of the song. This definitely not a lip sync. You can hear the slight imperfection at the beginning. It is still a phenominal song. He makes it more human.

I paid over 60 euros to hear a great concert and it was pathetic. I don't care about how he spend his days. He can pass his days giving head in bathrooms or smokin' joints and i got nothin' to say about it. But spending money to see a shadow of the artist I knew is pissing me off.
Favonegrassone - I attended all 25 Live concerts in Italy and I haven't seen anything slightly pathetic. George was on top form and the crowds went mad in all of them. I have to say I wouldn't go to another show in the Olympic Stadium in Rome, the venue is a nightmare in terms of accessibility.

At first, I thought, "what a marvelous, refreshingly understated performance" and then when speaking with Ryan afterward he mentioned he had a cold... wow. Regardless, this is one of those moments when we are reminded why George Michael is a superstar. Moving and memorable.
This song is so beautiful and as timely as the day it was released on the very underrated Listen Without Prejudice CD. He did what he could with what he had and came away with a memorable performance.
Paula and George go back a long way, she choreographed his Faith Tour 20 years ago! I would imagine he's crying because she's moved by the beautiful performance and also because it brings back memories

Beautiful song and still relevant today.
I was at one of his conserts many years ago, and he sounds better live then on tape. Never misses a note and always on pitch.

he has a cold and is singing thru it...it's an interesting thing to watch a professional singer pull it out when his vocal is sore and he probably has a nose of shit... and still no wavering...barely....as for movements. they are what he does to get into that space where he connects his soul to the words that he sings..he is a flawless machine that can take any chance.more balls to do it even when the world "knows" and judges..he did this he did that...well he did sing this moment into our lives

Navcity are you on glue?how stupid can some people be?So he picked a live backing track where his cold was clearly evident and where there were one or two imperfections in his vocals.Beleive me i have heard george sing live and he is normally 10 times better than this.

You will also notice that he is cupping his ear making sure he is in tune at the beginning of the song. This definitely not a lip sync. You can hear the slight imperfection at the beginning. It is still a phenominal song. He makes it more human.

I paid over 60 euros to hear a great concert and it was pathetic. I don't care about how he spend his days. He can pass his days giving head in bathrooms or smokin' joints and i got nothin' to say about it. But spending money to see a shadow of the artist I knew is pissing me off.

Favonegrassone - I attended all 25 Live concerts in Italy and I haven't seen anything slightly pathetic. George was on top form and the crowds went mad in all of them. I have to say I wouldn't go to another show in the Olympic Stadium in Rome, the venue is a nightmare in terms of accessibility.

I was soooo excited when they started covering GM songs but thought, theres no way they got him to show up. So I was screaming when they announced him!
I was even happier when the finalists didn't crowd around him and let him sing by himself.
My night could have only been rendered perfect had Amy/Angie/Janis-wannabe not been on the show. She sucks harder than a three dollar whore on half price night....

This is an exquisite performance from an artist who can truly feel the music he is singing! The emotion he brought out in this song is nothing more than magnificent! This man is genuinely gifted! At first, I thought, "what a marvelous, refreshingly understated performance" and then when speaking with Ryan afterward he mentioned he had a cold... wow. Regardless, this is one of those moments when we are reminded why George Michael is a superstar. Moving and memorable.
