The sound of them crying makes me sad, but I do realize that it's necessary to wean them. My question is, why do it at three weeks? That seems a bit young to me.

No it is not young to let the puppies try food when they are 3 1/2 weeks old. We did not start to wean them off, just let them try solid food:-)

The mother still gave them milk until they turned 8 weeks old. So they did both, solid food + milk:-))

Uhhhmmm. Why not let them be with the mamma Corgi? What kind of a sick jolly did you get out of this?

@Xcorgi: No kind of sick jolly at all! If the mother had been in there at that time, she would have eaten all the food that the puppies had. They were not away from there mum more than 5 minutes. So do not jump to any weird conclusions, please:-)

@Xcorgi Have you ever been a breeder? If so then you REALLY should know that the bitch needs to be separated from the puppies at times, especially when the puppies are to learn how to eat solid food. AND, as you can see in this clip, the mother is clearly looking towards the bowl of food..NOT the puppies....

Don't jump to conclusions, your mind might be twisted enough to think that someone would do this to hurt the puppies, but I'm sure MOST breeders have better sense then that.

Hihi, Bilbo och Bamse gör också det. Vaknar mitt i natten och börjar yla... Mamma Tina ylar inte speciellt mycket men morfar Frodo däremot... Om man inte svarar i telefonen snabbt nog sätter han igång och får med sig resten av gänget... För att inte tala om glassbilen, ambulansutryckning mm..
