Dressage has been a very hard discipline for me. I'm trying to become good at it with my morgan gelding but its extremely difficult. We have been working on half passes but my horse has a terrible time keeping his quarters underneath him, he ends up moving his front end over, but his hind end just sort of trails out behind him. Do you have any tips to help me correct this?
@Equestrian08 back-up to trot and back-up to canter transitions and lots of 3 tracks shoulder-in should help you. If you hack out and have hills available, backing up wile going down a hill is great and galloping wile going uphill too. Also be sure the horse isn't overbending, that puts any horse that's not exceptionally well built on the forehand.
I mainly do show jumping and cross country with my pony, and I have never really been interested in dressage, but now I would like to learn some of the movements as I think they look impressive and it would also improve my pony's muscles. However, she suffers from swollen knees on her back legs, so I don't know how much would be too much for her. I think I will try some simple movements first and see how she copes with it. Thankyou very very much! This videos are so helpful!
