  • uhmm good G#d this is music at its humblest... most certain sure, something Joe knew well everytime, sublety is everythin' ... but so's the urgency & intent - always peaceful & reverent ...cheers hero ' o mine !! ....hey stoner!

  • This music, the rythm, the Lyrics, Strummer voice, this song give tears to my eyes.

    Thank You Clash.

  • nice number, can't hear em, and i loved ur description-unique :)

  • Luv this tune!!!

  • This song is so chilling!

  • for me this song is good for floating down the lazy river

  • Not the best clash song ever but Joe wrote and it's the clash so it's still awesome

  • i really miss them

  • You can tell by these lyrics that Joe is really getting into his beat poet vibe on this song!

  • why the fuck is this song not on essential clash, thats wat i wanna no

  • Joe!

  • Joe!

  • Ahhhhhh This is Beautiful music :)

  • RIP Joe..

  • i am afraid of hero worship, but these guys verged on brilliant. stellar.

  • Toper headon is the drummer of the planet.

  • Fantastic hearing this. My only copy is on Vinyl and I haven' t heard it in probably 20+ years. So I'm listening to this and turn around to find my 6 yr. old doing a heady dance, eyes closed, arms extended up--brings a huge smile to my face. She looks at me smiles, I nod my head in approval and say, "EX-ACTLY!"

  • "Like the apple fell off the tree you know, Pah! fell right on his headddd" Big hug to you Joe!

  • OMG this song makes me miss Joe sooooo much!

  • 50 up- Zero down

  • Still, by far, one of the best songs on the best Clash album. AppoCC119 you are doing Youtube a great service my friend.

  • try playing with the balance of left and right speaker 1 song on left speaker other set of lyrics on right speaker its just in the experimental mix or in other words as the floods of god washed away sin city the message on the tablets was valium :P

  • Thanks so much for this :D

  • One of fav's from the best ever album, remember the price ? so much for so little, how good were those days back then ? we were the real working class.....take me back.

  • HOLA?

  • Gotta Fender Stratosphere

    I can do anything tonight

  • the best band ever

  • "Gee man, what's it all about?"

  • I don't know what it is about this song...but I cry, get goosebumps, and feel something so true and powerful. Like nothing else.

Joe Strummer. Genius. Guy you could have a beer with and not know-for one second-that he was a genius.

  • Fuck ... this takes me back, best album ever, one of the best songs from that album.

    2 channels playing over each other...cool !!

  • RIP MIKEY & JOE WE MISS YOU

  • True

  • "Tape reels crumble like forgotten memories. Old man sweeps up the pieces to make room for something new. The young beats the drum of the dieing day. Digital twilight of sparkling constellations. Wise men telling stories of dreams. Time passes by unnoticed. Waking thoughts making room for the rising sunlight to fill up our eyes."- rest in Peace Joe, Thanx guys for your great music and inspiration. Thank you for posting.

  • Correction; It's the wandering down the street drunk at 5AM song. Much thanks for the posts.

  • "The Clash, you see, were the only punk band with groove, the first to realise that if you got people to move their ass then their minds would follow, embracing dub, funk, rocksteady and hip-hop long before any other rock band. They worked with Lee Scratch Perry, inspired Bob Marley to write Punky Reggae Party, and became one of the best loved and most influential bands of their era in the process."

  • To hear how SANDINISTA really sounds get yourself either a 1980's vinyl copy NOT vinyl re-release from recent years and NOT the remastered CD but the old NON remastered CD.

The remastered version is post oven-bake and

SACD centric mix . The album was recorded onto the dreaded Ampex tape that rotted.

  • sanacore4643 ...

Thanks for the advice on Sandinista it's much appreciated, from one Audiophile to another. May I ask your advice on the other albums / cd's?

  • Yes, this is...THE...end-of-party song. Or the pass out on the floor song. Or the drive all night song, the wandering down the street drunk at 4AM song, the song to write to, the song to smoke to, the song to ride the subway, brush your teeth or burn your oatmeal to--It is, in short, THE song. Is it Errol Flynn's birthday or not?

  • People who dont like the clash are just idiots. They probably watch to much tv and read to many newspapers. If you dont like the clash then you aint livin, so pick up your spade, dig a hole and jump in.

  • That seems a bit silly attitude, and certainly not one that will attract non-fans into giving The Clash a listen.

After all, if you can say that, what is to stop me from saying that everyone who doesn't like Genesis, The Kinks and Barclay James Harvest are idiots?

    Makes about as much sense.

Also, I don't see how reading newspapers would stop you from being a Clash fan.

  • m8 i was a little drunk and it was late,to be honest i dont really understand anything i was tryin to say lol.

  • @AppoCC119 word. joe strummer was a news junkie. news is gold

  • @AppoCC119 Thats true, to be a punk u have to be aware

  • @tctcetb tottaly agree!!!!! Long life to The Clash!!! The only band that matters...

    From Argentina

  • statements like that only come from idiots them selves, but im glad you at least have good taste.

  • This is one of my favs. Brilliant composition and the stereo play works so effectively. Known by so many for their live energy, sadly so many of these brilliant tracks never made it on a Clash set. And way before its time.

  • the only band that fucing matters

  • one of the best, takes me back to my spliff bunker an the hours ive spent there listening to this on my turntable.

  • Rolling Stone: And if you had to play one song to demonstrate the Clash's sound?

Joe: I'd play "If Music Could Talk," which is on Side Four on Sandinista!, but I always really liked "Rock the Casbah" -- that would be my number one fave.

  • Yeah, I'm a bore, I don't do joints. But the feeling is pretty much the same I believe.

  • This is the song where Topper really shines JAZZ BABY

and dont forget When Living in Fame you got to live up to your name!!!

  • Reminds me of blissfull drunken summer nights

  • I love this song :)! I once read in a interview with joe strummer, that this was the song that summed up the clash for him

  • Again, A superb Clash song in every way! If only more bands were adventurous and non-conforming as bands were back then. Fabulosos Cadillacs from Argentina is one of those bands that was non-compromising and heavily influenced by The Clash, but alas they also parted ways.

  • I believe Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are touring again, but I don't know if they are planning on new material or not.

  • i never quite got in the situation of having it play in a room when i'm with friends, but it often plays at the "wee wee hrs" - it's one of the perfect last songs of a night, i agree so very much. great atmosphere.

  • Good upload, one of my favorite clash songs.
