of some of the album belongs to rush this is the best album in terms of musical quality, the use of sound effects are very apik.dan the most spectacular in almost all the songs nice to hear
@33115metal You aren't listening then. There is guitar all over this song. Just because its not pushed through a Dual Rectifier doesn't mean there's no guitar! But its definitely still there and, as with most Lifeson leads, the lead is real nice.
The ending is also kinda trippy and mystical -- I know Rush never ended a lot of their songs properly on the studio albums preferring them to fade out (but of course they did live)
@chitoryu12 It was WAY too ahead of its time. NO ONE was writing/recording music like this back in '87. You may recall that when people were looking to Whitesnake for creative inspiration, things were pretty sad musically. I'm sure most of the people who listened to this really didn't know what they were listening to because it didn't resemble anything that was audibly digestible at the time. In that respect, Rush accomplished what they set out to do, again.
@123rushfan1, hence the title of the album "Hold Your Fire". I sure wish they'd kept the original cover of a man juggling balls of fire rather than this blood red one that gives some people headaches. But that's just my opinion.
Watching this live is amazing. Geddy ripping the bass, singing his heart out, jamming on the keys and playing the bass pedals. Alex also hitting samples with his feet and just Neil tearing it up. The only power trio that sounds like an orchestra!
"Lock And Key" is probably my FAV from "Hold Your Fire". Rush recorded most of that record in the English countryside, as well as "Power Windows" with producer Peter Collins.
DUDE! Hold your fire is the most Dynamic album i ever heard. I put this on a list at my dance along with Force 10 and the guy freakin' laughed at me! Oh, i wanted to beat the shit outta him right then and there And how is Justin Beiber better than this, i mean really! All music is today is just chanting about sex, money and fame! Come on back rush!
@leftrickenbacker I'm almost positive people like you and me have more talent than 3/4 of the idiotic musicians out there today. This talent we have comes from our appreciation of true musicianship like this.
that's why my band and i are trying really hard right now to make it ! :)
@leftrickenbacker wow i wish i could have witnessed them live in moncton.. I live in Moncton and I'm still waiting for them to come so i can see them live for the first time. but no, we get U2.... wtf.

great song from a great lp! i remember when mtv first showed the video, i didn't know the guys had a new lp coming out, so i sat and watched the video, enjoyed it, and when the weekend came, i went out to one of my local record stores and got the whole "hold your fire" album....at this point, the entire lp is a 5-star classic..every tune is still perfect in my ears from when i got it at 15 during my sophomore year of high school.....oh, yeah, neil peart's playing is fantastic!!
overall, i think this entire album is put together extremely well. it has a great drum sound and even Alex's guitar has amazing strumming patterns. Its like he is doing more of the work than his amp is.

One of my fav rush songs. Right up there with Red Barchetta. Pearts genius shines yet again in both the lyrics, and the drum track :) 5/5!
