  • HTF has Lock and Key, Time Stand Still, and Force Ten. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

  • @FeelingFreshSon I'm not the biggest fan of Time Stand Still but Lock and Key and Force Ten are definitely the gems of this album

  • Amen to that tinfoilhater!!!!!!

  • Peart's lyrics are pure poetry.

  • it's not fair to compare anyone else to rush...they definitely elevated this planet artistically, musically, and i don't think it's fair for all the other bands that they're even on this planet...maybe i'm just envious that they were so fortunate to find each other...even today i don't think they realise how great they are..but ask any high schooler of the last 30 years and they all seem to know the greatness of rush....

  • @tinfoilhatter Amen to that man......class of '83......Rush is so talented and timeless.....such great music and memories!

  • lyrically, it's extremely provocative.

  • The 1 disliker of this incredible song must've been denied his or her alimony payments. HA HA HA HA!!!!

"Lock And Key" is my FAV from Rush's "Hold Your Fire" album by the way.

  • of some of the album belongs to rush this is the best album in terms of musical quality, the use of sound effects are very apik.dan the most spectacular in almost all the songs nice to hear

  • the 1 disliker is alex lifeson.

thats what you get for writing a song without a guitar you gaiz :P

  • @33115metal No guitar?

  • @pajasper *very little guitar -_-

  • @33115metal You aren't listening then. There is guitar all over this song. Just because its not pushed through a Dual Rectifier doesn't mean there's no guitar! But its definitely still there and, as with most Lifeson leads, the lead is real nice.

  • @33115metal All three of them have wives.

    >.>

  • @fearsomesnow what does that have to do with anything i said?

  • @33115metal You said "you gaiz"

  • @fearsomesnow yah. i said "you guys" wtf does that have to do with them being married??

  • @33115metal Lol I took it as a different word.

    Nvm.

    DO NOT REPLY

  • The ending is also kinda trippy and mystical -- I know Rush never ended a lot of their songs properly on the studio albums preferring them to fade out (but of course they did live)

  • That 1 disliker --

    - Didn't carry the sensitive cargo

    - Wanted to face the killer instinct

    - Wanted to be victims

    - Did not lock up the killer instinct

    - Did NOT keep it under Lock & Key

    How can you HATE this?

  • I thank my parents for having great taste in music!! Rush !!!!!

  • the parents of the disliker locked the door of his bathroom

  • BTW, I challenge anyone to NOT air-drum at the end of this song.

  • @heashon2000 Aw, come on... totally impossible. :D

  • RUSH♥♥♥''LOCK AND KEY''(HQ)

  • this album always seems to make me sad

  • I always have trouble believing that this album had any problems in sales or on the charts.

  • @chitoryu12 It was WAY too ahead of its time. NO ONE was writing/recording music like this back in '87. You may recall that when people were looking to Whitesnake for creative inspiration, things were pretty sad musically. I'm sure most of the people who listened to this really didn't know what they were listening to because it didn't resemble anything that was audibly digestible at the time. In that respect, Rush accomplished what they set out to do, again.

  • @heashon2000 I think you're right. Nicely worded.

  • 2 words: very nice song.

  • @ikawpipa nice.

  • what kind of bass is he using?

    That punchy tone, wow!

  • @CircusEnvy23 Wal basses. Agreed... Amazing sound. Perhaps my favorite sounding Rush period.

  • Playing at Manchester Academy, Manchester on 08/07/2011

OH BOY I DIDN'T MISS IT?

    Big Rush Time.

    Fuck.

  • rush pure genious s music professors i think they must b the best live band ever 2 walk the planet true musicians

  • * Playing at Manchester Evening News Arena, Manchester on 19/05/2011

Noooo D: I live an hour away

  • 0 people are getting insulted because they clicked dislike :)

  • Genius

  • "Lock And Key" is my personal FAV on "Hold Your Fire".

  • they must've been on fire when they were making this album! (pardon the pun)

  • @123rushfan1, hence the title of the album "Hold Your Fire". I sure wish they'd kept the original cover of a man juggling balls of fire rather than this blood red one that gives some people headaches. But that's just my opinion.

  • Everyone always says there should be more bands like Rush, but hell, thats whats makes them so damn good right?

If everyone was as complex and as virtuous as them, then Rush wouldnt be valued as it is nowadays now would it?

Granted I hate half the crap that plays on the radio, but that's why I have 1.5 days worth of Rush on mah ipod in the car.

  • Watching this live is amazing. Geddy ripping the bass, singing his heart out, jamming on the keys and playing the bass pedals. Alex also hitting samples with his feet and just Neil tearing it up. The only power trio that sounds like an orchestra!

    RUSH forever!

  • "Lock And Key" is probably my FAV from "Hold Your Fire". Rush recorded most of that record in the English countryside, as well as "Power Windows" with producer Peter Collins.

  • for someone to find a flaw would not even be human here

  • best thing to ever come out of canada

  • First time I listened to this is I literally stopped midstep and stood like a stone for like 30 seconds

  • I can't resist going into air-drumming at the end of this tune.

  • @heashon2000

Rush is the only band where you'll see an entire audience at a concert air drumming instead of air guitaring.

  • @chitoryu12 Also the only band where their fans sing along to instrumentals.

  • all the 0 people who disliked are gay

  • One word: Perfect.

  • bieber should cover this!

  • @Xiclotrode THAT would be a matter of mercy, ged out spot

  • DUDE! Hold your fire is the most Dynamic album i ever heard. I put this on a list at my dance along with Force 10 and the guy freakin' laughed at me! Oh, i wanted to beat the shit outta him right then and there And how is Justin Beiber better than this, i mean really! All music is today is just chanting about sex, money and fame! Come on back rush!

  • i wish i were at a concert right now

  • Geddyy is a very underrated keyboard player as well! LOVE his programming and playing style.

  • Orgasmic song! I cant belive theyr comming back to Holland the 27th of MAY!

  • seen rush..hold your fire..live in moncton nb,wish they would come back,FUCK i hate todays music, absolutely no talent whatsoever..

  • @leftrickenbacker I KNOW RIGHT !!!! LIKE BIEBER W T FFFFFF IS THAT SHIT!

  • @moveEcritik i hear yea..!

  • @leftrickenbacker I'm almost positive people like you and me have more talent than 3/4 of the idiotic musicians out there today. This talent we have comes from our appreciation of true musicianship like this.

that's why my band and i are trying really hard right now to make it ! :)

  • @leftrickenbacker wow i wish i could have witnessed them live in moncton.. I live in Moncton and I'm still waiting for them to come so i can see them live for the first time. but no, we get U2.... wtf.

  • @leftrickenbacker CTV news says there is a possibility of Rush coming to the maritimes this summer. although they also mentioned lady gaga...

  • @BenjaminBreeg942 The greatness of one outweighs the negative push force of the other!!!

  • @leftrickenbacker Do I get credit for being 13 and agreeing with you?

  • @ProZo17 yes you do,apparently you have a good ear for music.

  • @leftrickenbacker Thanks man. I think me and my friend are the only ones in my school who even knows who Rush is.

  • @leftrickenbacker Yeah really..

Although if you're into indie music you should check out Lock and Key by Mason Proper. That's what I was searching for when I decided to listen to this instead. Mason Proper is really good, but they're extremely unpopular.. shows you what, unfortunately, doesn't pass as good music these days..

  • @leftrickenbacker You don't like Daughtry? or John Mayor LOL

  • great song from a great lp! i remember when mtv first showed the video, i didn't know the guys had a new lp coming out, so i sat and watched the video, enjoyed it, and when the weekend came, i went out to one of my local record stores and got the whole "hold your fire" album....at this point, the entire lp is a 5-star classic..every tune is still perfect in my ears from when i got it at 15 during my sophomore year of high school.....oh, yeah, neil peart's playing is fantastic!!

  • the chorus is epic!

  • The last perfect Rush album. The rest have been nearly perfect.

  • deep sound!!!!

  • lol i have this on a cassette tape. im afraid to play it because the tape player almost ate the poor thing.

  • @KarinXKisame cool i got 2112 caress of steel and grace under pressure on cassete and all the worlds a stage on vinyl

  • The ending gives me goosebumps. How can a band be so good?

  • I'm seeing Rush tonight

    be jealous

  • @evilvon awwwww im jealous

  • @evilvon WPB or Tampa?

  • @SusieQ4FOO Tampa fo sho.

    i love wpb though

  • I would sit in my buddy's basement listening to this album everyday after school. Got me through some tough days.

  • @OldsmarMartialArts i uploaded high water If its not blocked in your country

  • Wow.

That was worth all 318 seconds.

  • lock any key forever

  • I love Alex's use of Arpeggio's on this track.

  • thumbs up if you have ever held your breath listening to the drum fill @ 4:41

  • This is their best song.

  • another great Rush song

  • overall, i think this entire album is put together extremely well. it has a great drum sound and even Alex's guitar has amazing strumming patterns. Its like he is doing more of the work than his amp is.

  • `Lee's parents were Jewish refugees from Poland who had been survivors of Nazi concentration camps Dachau and Bergen-Belsen during World War II. In 2004, Canadian Jewish News featured Lee's reflections on his mother's experiences as a refugee, and of his own Jewish heritage.

  • Genius

  • I,m a Rush Fan and i Love the music

  • I love listening to this song while im drivin' in my car, time flies then...

  • They are QUALITY!

The best LIVE band or otherwise ........PERIOD!

  • rushs bicurious album

  • HQ COMPARED TO A VINYL! with scratches Lol

  • High quality of album folder? ¬¬

  • Neal Peart is awesome

  • This song completely devours you from start to finish, such an overwhelming force. It's as if the song provokes the restlessness and chill of the very same inner instinct being expressed, I love it, I love Rush:) 4:39-4:54 is golden, Neil is amazing.

  • Hold Your Fire is likely my personal favorite rock album . A mature balance of instrumentation.

  • hooked on these guys since 1975 when i was in college and now have my granddaughter listening. should be mandatory for any child. just sayin'.

  • @jr55ful I got my nephew & neice and several other much younger family members hooked on them, at first they was "ok" then I took them to a live show of Rush and just to prove a point I took them to what ever band they wanted to see live after that, and Rush is still the choice for me to take a first timer to.. you just cant compare

  • All of the songs on this album are simply amazing. they're all so powerful!

  • One of the best bands on earth

  • @valderamablues I have to agree with you there

  • @valderamablues THE best band on earth

  • @valderamablues THE best band on earth

  • Comment removed

  • neils drums sounds fantastic on this track, AND the entire album! great upload man! :V

  • Poetry, philosophy, high thought!

    Masterpiece

  • @TrejosEd Well Said My Friend

  • one of my least favored rush albums but this tune and force 10 are great

  • Definitely a mysterious song. 5 stars! This song should be playing on the radio.

  • The album "hold your fire" is on of the most overlooked albums of all time, but it's just so amazing

  • Hey... it's my favorite Rush song that nobody has ever heard.

  • @kazzman and ain't that a shame that this came out when hairbands ruled? those bands put out stuff that would have trouble qualifying as toilet paper for this song.

  • @jr55ful

Your comment is win. I'm still trying to get my girlfriend to actually take time to listen to Rush instead of screaming when I put them on. I listen to HER Hollywood Undead and 3Oh!3 without complaining.

  • @kazzman hahahaha. masterpieces lie within the obscure depths of Rush's eighties and nineties albums

  • @kazzman i know wat ur talkin about

  • @kazzman its my favorite too, besides Manhattan Project and Presto.

im 14 and i think this is the best band in the world

  • @fearsomesnow And now I am 15, still think that this is the best band in the world, and my favorite songs are now Emotion Detector, Jacob's Ladder and this.

I think it's much easier to appreciate a song if you know the lyrics or are able to sing it.

  • @kazzman I've heard of it but its no where near even my top ten Rush songs. Hold Your Fire , in my opinion, was one of their weakest albums. The 80s weren't their best sound but its still great stuff. I think Presto is the most under rated Rush albums and is superior to this album.

  • @ViciousAlienKlown

presto (the song) was my 12 year old's favorite rush song.

if i could wave my magic wand, i would make everything all right....

  • @ViciousAlienKlown Hold Your Fire is definitely not weak. Presto and Caress of Steel were weak.

  • @ProjectDingmans ...Well, thats definitely your opinion and not mine, even Caress of Steel is better than Hold You Fire, which seems to be mechanical and soulless, Presto marked a good change for Rush who seemed to be getting away from way too much keyboards.

  • @kazzman Same here.

  • I have their entire vinyl collection. And it all rocks

  • @MiddletownDreamz So I think any one peep or perp that looked this link up is here for the memory or their friend told them to do that... oh ya the funny part... Rush is a good band

  • @ChadBurk4420 Anyone can look up this link, whoever they may be and they may do so on their own initiative. Yes, Rush is a good band.

  • @MiddletownDreamz dude i do too

  • What is so amazing about Rush is that they never put out a weak album.

Sure they change styles often, but that is what makes them so great.

  • I almost agree. Everything except Counterparts was pretty solid from start to finish. Counterparts has some gems but a lot of duds to. It's the only one I can't put on repeat for hours

  • Counterparts was fantastic.

What weak songs are you talking about?

  • I can't stand everything after Alien Shore or Cut to the Chase either

  • this song gives me a weird conflict. I LOVE the ending of this song...(how it ends)...BUT i do not like it when a rush ends.

  • Probably the best part of Rush is the fact that everyone can find a song they like from every album. They have such diversity in their songs that anyone can enjoy their music.

  • That's So True !

  • @gsruler

I've never heard a Rush song I don't like, and I've heard most of their songs!

  • This song needs to be played on their next tour!!!!

  • i like at least one song from each album so and i cant say that about a lot of the other bands i listen to except maybe dream theatr and metallica so RUSH ROCKS!!!!!

  • Been many years since I've heard this one. Could someone upload Turn the Page?"

  • i will try, but WMG doesn't let too many songs up

  • Thx bro! I really love this song, one of my favorites.

  • The best song on the album. Then Mission.

  • A great song from their last truly great album. Every album after this had some clunkers....and virtually ALL of Snakes & Arrows sucked, except far Cry.

  • I think S&A was awesome, it was a good CD, but it just goes to show you the diversity of their songs I guess. The 90's music was not as good, but it still had some good songs and lyrics. Again, it all depends on what type of music you like I guess.

  • What about "Roll THe Bones"? Bravado ROCKS!!!!

  • It's deff. my favorite Rush song.

  • I love this song and Force ten, the rest of the album is truly NOT there best, sorry I have to disagree.

  • Everyone Has There Opinions

  • @biggorilla730

How can you not agree? This was their best album! The songs were all so powerful!

  • Are you kidding?? Albums like Grace under Pressure, Moving Pictures, Signals, Permanent Waves, Those are their best albums. You can have Hold Your Fire and Presto. But they do show their diversity.

  • @biggorilla730 ...The Pass, Chain Lightning, Show Don't tell, Hand over fist the album had some good songs, I felt Hold Your Fire was the clunker album from them. Counterparts and test for Echo were good.

  • oh come on! Malignant Narcissism wasn't that bad.

Of course, I kinda think the same way about Presto, so fair enough.

  • Lol presto is also amazing

  • This is my fave album.

  • One Of Mine For Sure

  • This was their most uplifting album in my opinion, the words are awesome and the music is killer, I use to listen to this everyday for more then two years.

  • Everyday !!! Woah ! I Listen to It Everyday Too, but Mostly To Read Comments =]

Thanks For The View And Comment !

  • RUSH RULES

  • I AGREE !=]

  • Love this song, thanks for the upload. LONG LIVE GEDDY LEE! My username tells all basically, LOL.

  • Dude, you gotta post more from Rush.

  • I Tried And It Was Copyright Blocked

  • WMG forbids me to upload Rush!!!

But i got these 2 uploaded good Hopefully they don't remove them

Although i have some more good music to listen to At My Page (Click From:moveEcritik)

  • One of my fav rush songs. Right up there with Red Barchetta. Pearts genius shines yet again in both the lyrics, and the drum track :) 5/5!

  • I love rush thanks for the comment

  • Dude rush is my favorite bad! Their fucking genius!

  • very good song, excellent quality too

  • Thank You I Love High Def =]
