@bzzymatt its all done with thin wires. its not normally visible, unless you look hard enough. same way the old time sci-fi videos were done.

This is one of the most awesome LEGO shuttle launches I've ever seen. Love everything, the background, the sound effects, the shuttle pad and even the shuttle itself. Great job! BTW, is this a set, or did you make this yourself?

the set is 6339, long discontinued, unfortunately...I got it in '96 or so, when I was around 5. There have been several other iterations of Lego Space Shuttles, but none have had (to my knowledge) a launch pad or such other details. I'm plenty content with this one, even if the actual shuttle is more realistic in newer sets.

It's a joy to build and a joy to play with, even more so when you're a little kid!

I think he used blue screen, because at 1:53, the blue window at the frint of the shuttle blends in with the background.

@coreyteen13 no it's a green screen. and don't say I'm wrong because I have experience in chroma key work. if he used a blue screen, the the window would have been keyed out of every shot he was doing a shot that involved chroma key. the reason the windshield is keyed out is because of the lighting in the area he was filming. it's a reflectivity problem. I had the same problem when I shot one of my videos.
