  • The 1.4 TSI motors VW are failing miserably.

    I knew a lot of TSI motors with 20-30.000km has broken, My Scirocco TSI 122cv has broken with 2 years and 38.000km, with the max care driving, the great filming, refueling in the best petrol station in Spain.

    23.600€ for this?For I had a broken motor?

    If I know this before I had buying a HOnda or Ford or Bmw

    I am INDIGNANT, I sent a letter to VW Spain in Barcelona and their answer it was poor and empty!

    IT`s my opinion and my sad personal experience!!

  • We have a Vw polo comfortline with this tsi engine, it is a great engine and works very well with the dsg gear box, at 100kph it only is reving at about 1900 rpms in 7th gear

  • I've got a Skoda Fabia with 1.2 TSI engine on it(63KW),I just want to say it's a very good engine,it runs very well,VERY VERY economic and it's very silent,you can barely hear it.They are right with what they say in this video,it's all true,I was so impressed about this engine and how less fuel it consumes.And the torque it's 160 Nm,quite qood for a 1.2 litre engine.Never mind those who say it's not reliable!A good deal as the fuel price continues to rise...

  • @sangolt88 yeah it should be . This TSi range of engines are great i really want a Fabia with 1.2 TSI engine in it power and low fuel consumption

    you get the same thing in the end, the engine with 5spd gearbox is going 120kmh at say 3000 rpm, and same engine with 6spd gearbox is going 120kmh at 2900 rpm. I took random figures. Polo 1.2TSI 77kw 6g goes 0-100 in 9.7s and same engine 5g Fabia goes 10.1s ;) with both having the same top speed, Polo 190kmh and Fabia 191kmh.

  • this is a great engine,but when we talk about consuption and torque no petrol engine can be comparised with diesel engine

  • I tested a 1.2 TSI Skoda fabia with the DSG box and it totally out performs the 1.6 Mazda 3 auto I have. This TSI engine is a work of genius.

  • At 3:39 you can see a white box over the alternator and a black round thing that looks like the oil filter. What is the white box and what is the black thing, is it oil filter? And does the oil spill on the engine when you unscrew the filter?

  • @pa3op89nbg The black thing is a spin-on oil filter with a check valve (to prevent oil spillage when unscrewed).

  • @pa3op89nbg The white box is probably the oil cooler (oil is cooled before passing through the filter).

  • I'm going to get a lot of hate replys.... but the 1.4TSI/1.2TSI and 1.6TDI engines are pieces of shit. They have really big electronic problems....

  • @SWR012 only when it's cold started. when it drops from 1100rpm to 800rpm, it's almost soundless.

  • As said in the video,they tried their best to minimize power losses from friction...more valves = more friction...this is not a performance engine..it's a combination of low emission and high economy engine,but with enough horsepower and torque to match a 1.6 or even a 1.8 engine...Imo that's the genius of all TSi engines.. !

    and the gave it a 5speed manual to Ibiza 1.2 tsi? why? to promot the damn polo?

    welldone VW! dont support the brands that brinks you more sales, like seat etc, keep promoting the polo that is much more expensive and low in standar equip.

  • @johnnyxp64 The final gear ratio in 5speed gearbox is 2.69 while the final gear ratio in 6sped gearbox is 2.64 which is no difference at all, the 6th speed IS NOT an ECO speed, only the gears are slightly better distributed, no difference in RPM that you can notice and that can reflect on noise or fuel consumption.

  • @pa3op89nbg so if i understand correctly you are saying that in 6th speed the "dyno curve" is not "diving down deep" and that the engines continues been agile and has acceleration, but how isnt this possible to affect the fuel consumsion! basically its like having my own Cupra Ibiza DSG7 (that i bought actually recently) and dont use the 7th gear for ECO and always been forced to travel at 6th!????

    how to you difine "better gear distributions?"

  • @PATRYKZAJAC Well, the 1.2TSI 77kw outperforms the 1.6 atmo engines with same power primarily in flexibilty of the engine i.e. torque, average 1.6 16v normally aspirated engine develops about 150nm of torque at around 4000 rpm, while the 1.2TSI pumps out 175nm @1550 to 4100 rpm which is great.

  • @Sebastian7224 actually, 20v engines are not better than 16v(5v per cylinder vs 4v), the 20v was used years ago in the audis and vw's but abandoned to 16v designs now available

  • @lordoftheriffs79 trust meif u know something abaut engine work 3 valves for intake and 2 for exaust is wery good thing 16v have smaller power vithout turbo and supercharger than normal 20v no turbo

  • all that TSI sounds good ... but in the end all these motors are problematic ... they burn oil in most cases and ur pocket pays it all ... 1.4 GT with 170hp is the worst engine to choose ... horsepower sounds great but after 20k km u will definitely regret it ...

  • @skatiaris21 That engine received the Best Engine in the World in its volume class. That is the most prestigious award in the world when it comes to engines. So I presume that you're an expert to say what is good or not?

  • @pa3op89nbg he is talking about the 170 ps version that did have many problems...but they stopped their production soon enough..

  • The chains are supposed to last forever, which they usually do. However VW recently announced that the timing belts of some of the newer-generation engines will not require a change either. I think that's quite ambitious, but let's see what they'll come up with to achieve this...

  • Btw i 'd also like to point out that TSI stands for Twincharged Stratified Injection..That means both a turbocharged and a supercharger is used..While this applies to the 1.4litre (140-160ps) it doesnt apply to this 1.2l engine nor to the 1.8 20VT..That's all just marketing from VW,but it's hard times we live in,so i guess they used the "TSi" name for their own benefit...

  • Now that's a great engine...Too bad it's going to be launched in the start of 2010 in Greece..Anyhows,i noticed that it's an 8Valve engine,while i thought it was a 16-valve..I also noticed that the camshaft belt is a chain actually..Does that mean that it's gonna need less maintance ? What is the mileage in which the services must be done..It's already a very economical engine,but still i d like to know the service mileage,if you can tell me..Thanks a lot !
